consolevania's international shared game playing thing
n0wak replied to Spaff's topic in Idle Banter
You know what, I have the perfect game for this. I'll be willing to send it out first because I'm not touching it and it's not a game that many are likely to have played: my import copy of Band Brothers for DS. It's a music game so there isn't any story to catch up or bearings to find -- just songs to beat. It's in Japanese, but it's easy enough to figure out. And, as a bonus, if we get it beat it unlocks a music mixer of sorts so we can make a collaborative music track too. And it's a shame that it hasn't been brought out of Japan. That saucy little bat would be a nice, new addition to the Nintendo mascot canon. -
Yeah, Bomberman Live would be great. You can play with local guests against people online. There aren't any real team modes, unfortunately, but you can do it unofficially.

Awesome! I can't wait for this to continue the streak of really, really great TV show to video game conversions

THIS COULD HAPPEN TO YOU WHEN YOU POST ON THE INTERNET

consolevania's international shared game playing thing

Minish Cap wasn't very good and I can forsee somebody getting the game half-way through not knowing where the fuck to go or what the hell to do because it's never clear. More so in Minish Cap. Worst Zelda game ever (Note: I have only played NES, SNES Zeldas and Wind Waker) -
I wouldn't say it's flawless. Gears of War, for all its "EAT SHIT AND DIE" faults, has a far smoother co-op experience. With Gears you can join a friend's current campaign and it places you right in there. Then you can drop out and your friend can continue with an AI controlled Dom. With Crackdown, when you get someone joining you for co-op it takes you out of your current world and drops the two of you into a new instance. Yes, it's fun once you're there, but that transition is far from seamless. Flawless it ain't. Speaking of co-op, I'm looking forward to "Army of Two" despite the fact that it seems to have all the same faults of Gears and it's published by EA. Hooray for a mini-revival in co-op play though!

LULZ I posted a comment correcting some tard on Joystiq once. I posted ANONYMOUSLY. I am obviously part of a terrorist organization. Also, I once replaced hotlinked images from my server showing up on somebody's MySpace site with something offensive... I AM HAXOR.

Which itself was predated by "Tobal No. 1" containing the "Final Fantasy VII" demo.

Meanwhile, at the other side of the world, Kuono-san is posting to a forum complaining about weird women nerds touching him.

Fuck! I was playing this one game once that was exactly the same thing. It just dropped me into the game without a tutorial. How the fuck was I supposed to know what was going on? I figured out how to move alright and before I knew it there was this little short dude coming up to me. I went up to it to say hi and I FUCKING DIED. Like, what the hell? What am I supposed to do? And what the fuck are those question blocks for?

Man, I wish I could experience Z:LttP for the first time all over again instead of the two dozenth time. The mystery is kind of gone when you know where everything is and you have a set path through the game that you always follow.

Or Level 42...

Maybe you're thinking Level 5?

Asking "what are the best XBox 360 games" is dependent on what you like: shooting stuff or racing? I mean, there is "Guitar Hero 2" and "Viva Pinata", but beyond that not much deviates from that formula. Lost Planet is not worth your time, but "Dead Rising" is great despite some of the nay-sayers. Same with "Crackdown". I agree with the above post. Gears of War is pretty fun if you have someone to co-op with through the campaign, making fun of the dialogue and working together through some tricky parts, otherwise it's a bit... eh. Your best bets are in the XBox Live Arcade! Lot of gems there.

It was better to dig up an old thread than post a new one, but Bomberman Live is totally awesome When XBox Live Arcade launched this was the game that I (and many others) thought would be perfect for it. Instead, Hudson in all its wisdom released Bomberman: Act Zero I guess the failure of that made them see the light cause Bomberman Live is what everyone wanted from the start... a decent, online Bomberman. There's a lot of customization. A bunch of modes. EIGHT player matches. Kinda wish that some of the classic levels (conveyor belts; tunnels) were there, but that's a minor complaint. I got in a player match with some random people in the evening and after a number of frantic 8 (more like 6-7, always someone dropped ) player matches I realized that it was 1:30. Eight player online Bomberman with revenge turned on (when you die you go into a cart on the side of the board that you can chuck bombs from. If you kill someone, you switch places and you're back in the game) is crazy. Definitely the most fun with an online arcade game I've had yet. So worth the $10.

Guy leaves job for another job to be near family. NEWS AT 11.

I don't understand what's so funny. Freehand tools, mostly for presentations, have existed for years. This is just an evolution of the designs.

Nintendo's weight scale controller. That is all That's not to say that there aren't new IPs shown but they've been few thus far and the ones that have been shown are very much in that established dark/gritty type of genre. You have your open ended world thing (Infamous) and you have your futuristic shooters and that's about all. And with E3 scaled down as much as it is, it mostly exists as an expo for the BIG publishers. The smaller guys won't be Kentia Hall'ing their way into the "quirky games of E3" lists so, really, don't set your expectations too high. HOWEVER, there do seem to be plenty of nice small, downloadable games coming for XBLA and PSN (like that Escher-like puzzler). Kind of sad that they have these giant spectacles for these games and the ones that strike my fancy the most are... sub ten dollar downloadable games!?
-
And of course, they follow this up by announcing... a new football game!?

Tell me about it. Level 19 is where the real emotion begins. --- And it sounds like he's making "Species: The Game."

Context needed. What are your thoughts on "Armageddon" and "The Island"?

It was mentioned and lightly discussed in the "waiting for thread" The first trailer was more of a teaser than anything, revealing setting, some of the engine, and the main character. This new one is pretty much the trailer and the GTA4 that I was expecting. Yeah, the first trailer was cool and "different", but what did you think was going to happen? GTA: Koyaanisqatsi ? No. It's GTA. There will be guns. There will be guys beat up. There will be a lot of cops. There will be various kinds of vehicles. And there will be some semblance of a plot. This trailer covers that side of it and, really, does it as good as any game trailer around, really (most suck).
