  1. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Hey, I wasn't making any :innocent:s. I was just making an observation. Ms. Pac-Man ONLY wears a bow. I was just curious to the authenticity of her costume. As to the original topic: I, too, am listening to War Stories. It's pretty good. Just got the "Limited Edition" collectors version. Bad idea. The packaging is nice and all and it comes with an extra disc and an art book. Problem is, it's all packed so tightly into the package that I literally couldn't get it out. I spent over ten minutes trying to pry it out. The thing ripped. I had to get the knife out and cut a hole in it to get at the damn music. God. It was like the ultimate DRM. Next time I'll save the aggravation and just download the thing.
  2. Portal

I don't know if I'm as enthused about it as the rest of you. The presentation is great, yes, and the writing and so on... but something doesn't feel right to me. I think it might be that I approached the game strictly as a puzzle game (after playing the likes of Crush and playing around with that Echochrome protoype) and in that sense it's a little flawed. I don't think the puzzles really scratch the potential of what they were trying to do. In some places it felt like the "live fire" and "instant death water pits" were there strictly as cop-outs for better level design. A sort of FPS approach to a puzzler, really (can Valve even make a game without guns?) Level 10 on advanced was particularly frustrating. You can often see the way you need to go but to get there you need perfect accuracy and twitch reflexes to avoid instant death. It gets annoying reloading over and over again. The levels that really work are the ones you explore and try to figure out, at your own pace, what to do without the dread of death. That said, I really, really hope there'll be extra content for this. Also: getting medals, silver and gold, is really fucking hard.
  3. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Does that mean you... won't be wearing any clothes?
  4. Phantom Hourglass

Breaking the system's tradition of DS acronym subtitles (PH?), Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is out now and most are saying it's fantastic and awesome (and some are saying it's the best Zelda ever, but let's ignore those loons.) Anyone playing it? I bought it today but I've yet to play it as I'm still working my way through the ho-hum Halo 3 campaign since I was away last week and missed the giant nerd rush (thank god).
  5. What the "Halo"?

I finally finished the campaign today. I have to say that the Halo storyline and story telling is totally Which is a shame cause some of the settings are kind cool, especially the painted backdrops and so on. But everything else environmental is pretty dull. You'd think that after thousands of years of experience the forerunners would design their structures with a little more usability in mind. That said, multiplayer is fun ESPECIALLY the whole database that it keeps of games played, videos, screenshots and so on. Here's my crap http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Halo3/Default.aspx?player=n0wak I'd be up for a game. Send me a message Wrestlevania, if you see me online.
  6. BioShock - They weren't kidding...

This is true. I tried this. Also, I watched a guy take a piss before I strangled him.
  7. Gaming semantics

<seinfeld voice>What are first-person adventure games and what is the deal with them? </seinfeld>
  8. Gaming semantics

BTW, just so it's mentioned, there are second person shooters.
  9. Voice Acting in Final Fantasy IV

NOT WITHOUT STOPPING AT FFVI TOWN FIRST you blasphemer.
  10. Gaming semantics

Question: since "first-person" and "third-person" originate, for the most part, from 3D games does the terminology retroactively apply to 2D games where such a distinction was never made? Is Contra or Gunstar Heroes, then, a third person shooter?
  11. Lotus Symphony

It's big with corporate networks, along with Microsoft Exchange and Groupwise Just give me an email address and let me use Thunderbird, I say. But no. They have to always use these retardo bloatwares.
  12. Lotus Symphony

Is it at all like Lotus Notes? Cause we transitioned to that at work earlier in the year and using that piece of useless software is very much like listening to a symphony consisting entirely of asses, farting in unison. Lotus :fart:
  13. That Game Which Must Not Be Named!

That excuse doesn't hold since the spoilers for Halo 3 are already out there.
  14. That Game Which Must Not Be Named!

I'll buy it too. As much as I hated the single player game the multiplayer in Halo 2 was the most fun I had with XBox Live. I'd regularly play games with a group of local guys -- some I knew and some I didn't -- and that took away some of the random internet douchebaggery. That's the thing. Halo 3 will sell millions and that means there's a bigger chance that the people you would like to game with will have it too. So, yeah, catch me online.
  15. Internet Message Boards to Not Read

reddit, gamefaqs, GAF, gamespot, just about any forum with the word "Game" in it (WE ARE SAFE!) But YouTube takes the cake.
  16. Rez HD announced for Live Arcade!

Original console, right? You mean Dreamcast, right? Otherwise:
  17. Mercury Meltdown - Opinions?

I definitely want to pick it up. I played it on the PSP for a while and enjoyed it quite a bit. It was quite a good sequel, if you ask me. The original had a good premise but the execution left a lot to be desired. It was a first gen PSP game and it had THE WORST load times. Anyway, yeah. The puzzles are fairly varied and interesting. There's lots of them and it doesn't take a lot of time to do each so it's a perfect pick up and play game. Can't comment on how well the controls have translated to the Wii though.
  18. Rez HD announced for Live Arcade!

Rez is a fantastic, enchanting Kandisnky-like trance of a transcendal experience! But I'd rather get Ikaruga! Though I suck at it, I want to be on those leaderboards (I don't think I ever broke 10 million, but I was close). Although I worry how the 360 controller will handle it... need a good d-pad for that.
  19. Movie/TV recommendations

just saw No Country For Old Men Best Coens' film since Fargo. MAYBE EVEN BETTER. That is all.
