No I was there on really short notice and not having internet prevented me from researching anything so I just wandered around back and forth along the Channel. Twas nice indeed. Would have been nicer on a proper summer day, but I guess they don't have those in this country. meh. Maybe I'll be back in November and meet people this time (that don't owe me money )

Spaff > well done sir, that made me smile:tup:

I tried to get a ticket at the film festival but never did. The reaction then was kind of muted. Forgot about it until recently when I saw it was getting some repertory releases. BTW, for London people: a new print/version of Eraserhead is screening this week at the ICA.

Roflopolis.com - New blog <- ego post + Thumbs e3 video lure
n0wak replied to Spaff's topic in Idle Banter
Roflopolis. Gameslol. Should I rebrand my weblog to something like ChairmanLMAO or something? Good anyway I'll be sure to check it out when I have a stable internet connection (and yes, frequent updates are key. I log on in internet cafes just so I can push content up because I'm a loser ) -
I went down to Brighton for a day and was almost blown off the ground by the wind. Christ is it windy there. I was there on short notice so didn't get to meet any of the throngs of Brighton thumbs

Hi, I no longer have internet access in London and only one person showed up (besides me) for the London meet-up: I'm also crying in the shower.

So, yesterday I did half of the co-op campaign of Bionic Commando (great) and then played the demo of Galaga Legions (awesome, totally blew my mind -- from the guys that did Pac-Man: CE) and I'm thinking, has there ever been a time like now that's been so good for small, bite-sized classic styled games? Geometry Wars 2, Castle Crashers (coming soon!), Pixeljunk Eden (ok, PS3, but whatever), even Braid. And why did all this stuff have to come out when I'm an ocean away from my XBox 360?

Hey cool, I just downloaded the SDK myself And finally upgraded the iPod to 2.0. Been playing around with a few free apps but haven't bothered with any pay games yet. I'm curious about GalCon though. HOWEVER, I have been playing with this: http://toucharcade.com/2008/08/13/frotz-interactive-fiction-comes-to-the-iphone/ FROTZ. On the go. YES! And it comes bundled with a whole slew of games. Awesome. I could never really get into IF because I never had the patience for it, but one a train or plane it could be great.

The official 'Welcome N0wak to London' thread

So it was just the two of us. Which in someways was good because Soul Calibur III is a two player games and there weren't enough free credits to go around. It was a tug of war as we alternated winning and losing until I pick Kilik, the cheap bastard, and one a few in a row before losing to... Kilik. Then Thunderpeel played against a girl and lost (in another Kilik vs Kilik game. Man, I love SC but it has some serious balance issues). All in all the seven free credits nearly made up for the crazy overpriced London sushi. Ok, not really. Still, fun was had by all (two people). -

ok, how about this. Central and obvious place to meet. Meet me in front of the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square. I know it's a little crowded there with all the tourists and Olympic stuff, but I'll be waiting there in front of it at 4pm wearing mostly all black, with a large camera bag strung over my shoulder and a *black* "Canada" shirt. I wore this shirt yesterday but it's the most identifiable thing I have to wear. -

So what's a good place to meet? A pub? Cause then I need suggestions because I don't know any? Maybe buy some booze and drink it in the park some place (this is an original idea )? I say 4pm. ? -

Good for me. Though it might just be you and I. -
There are a lot of games with really lousy songs in them, almost all of which are by SEGA, it seems. The Sonic games are particularly atrocious. And Nintendo did have the Donkey Kong Rap in Smash Brothers. But these aren't what you're after. However, if you are posting one "credits" song (Portal) then I do need to point out another (funny enough, by SEGA): Anu Orta Veriya. It deserves a nod because, the song, is true to the game and its universe... it is sung in Panzer Dragoons fictional language. That's worth a mention, I think.

So, uh, this weekend is coming up mighty quick. Anyone free? I might have a bbq with other internet people on Saturday but my Sunday is free. -
I too have not seen this show (or really heard of it), but I have seen that clip about a dozen times across the internet. Makes me wish I had a TV here.

Oh man. TIGSource? You got my vote! Can't comment on the engine though since I'm on a Mac.

That's such bullshit. Yeah. When you remove the cheaper alternatives to first-day overpriced games, the prices of the first-day titles are going to decrease? Really? Without that internal competition? If anything, it'd give them reason to charge more since there wouldn't be any alternative. I mean, christ, isn't that kind of shit patently obvious? Madden didn't miraculously lose half its MSRP after EA killed off any NFL competition. I'm in favour of second hand retail -- it's how I got some of my rarer games and the like -- but at the same time I have no sympathy for the scamtastic major retailers that buy games for a third of their value and then sell them, used, for something like $5 or $10 off the price of the new one. That's bullshit and I'd encourage the major publishers going after these type of retailers, but don't go after the entirety of the second hand market. You'll only hurt kids on allowances and people that can't afford to pay $70 for your shitty annual sports games.

This entire thing is baffling to me. Yeah, I know that we are too good for a 50 Cent game here, but this is a follow up to a million seller. They can it? For Spyro and Crash Bandicoot?? Really? Ghostbusters? Riddick? I guess after merging with Blizzard and getting WoW, Activision got tired of making money. That's the only reason I can think of for this whole thing.

Conference? No. Too $$, er, ££££. Expo? Definitely maybe. Perhaps a meet involving alcohol after that but I'd need suggestions *cough*offers*cough* on places to crash for the night.

I liked the movie, it had a lot of great parts and moments but, overall, I thought it was kinda flat. It had all these ancillary plot threads that never really went anywhere or where stretched too long for no purpose. Batman's entire trip outside of Gotham City seemed pointless. Overall it felt very inconsistent to me. When it was good, it was great. When it was ok, it was excessively pointless. Would have been a 10/10 if they had an editor with balls.

I like web apps and conferences so I'm curious what this conference is?

Found the power cord for my PsP any game recommednations?

Space Invaders Extreme Playing it now (of course I brought some video games with me to London!) and it is great, especially if you love retro remakes like Pac Man:CE and other similar, shiny games like Geometry Wars. Didn't think I'd like a Space Invaders game but there you go. -

Though both are statistically pretty safe, I'd rather be in a crashing train than a crashing plane.
