  1. Spore

And freakonomics argues the complete opposite of that. I think some of the vitriol against Card is summarized nicely in his book Empire.
  2. Fuck. Two days too early. I get back into London on the 31st (My timing with London events sucks because they had a Q&A in London with Simon and the cast of The Wire two days after I left )

  4. World of Goo

Supposedly, a Mac version is coming too ... eventually
  5. YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES

BUT, they are supposedly getting a virtual console for the DS. If this means I can play the Gameboy classic "Golf" again, I'm sold (and I'm not joking. Zelda 3 too, I guess.) Oh, and you forgot to mention this announcement. Although hearing the music reminds me of a certain dark-complected person misappropriating a bicycle. Fucking internet.
  6. Ziggy! Nooooooo

This is great! But seeing everyone participate in a game that they already know is a bit off-putting to a noob like me. For the next game, can we get something that no one (here) has played? Something new-ish?
  7. Megaman 9!

No. I want to play it but obviously can not. I'll have impressions for you... in November.
  8. Jetpack Brontosaurus

http://blurst.com/jetpack-brontosaurus/ Is up! Flashbang just "soft-launched" their new game site, Blurst, and have finally added this game. The controls are a little touchy and there's some clipping and other minor issues but, really, those kinds of things were present in Safari and they never distracted from the fun.
  9. Off-Road Velociraptor Safari

Indeed it is! It's very pretty! Perhaps deserving of its own thread.
  10. WipEout HD

I'd love to play it but, for now, have to settle for WipeOut Pulse (which is quite good). But all the tracks in HD are old tracks in high res, right? Aren't a lot of the ones from the PSP games? There's some good tracks in those games but I'm curious as to how they translate to high-definition.
  11. Off-Road Velociraptor Safari

And it's "live" with "I Hate Clowns"
  12. iPhone/iTouch gaming

Just bought this http://fingergaming.com/2008/09/reign-of-swords-strategy-game-in-app-store/ Will give impressions later, after I actually play it.

  14. iPhone/iTouch gaming

So I bought iSplume. That was the first iPod App I purchased and it's... OK. Passes the time in short bursts but there's not a lot to it. Then again, it is $3 and I did feel like giving Flashbang Studios my money after all the enjoyment I got out of Velociraptor. Unfortunately, this game is totally deficient in dinosaurs. Gonna try some other stuff soon.
  15. Idle Eyes (aka: art recommendations)

Recently came across the art of Peter Duke. So nice http://www.pederduke.com I'm surprised I hadn't heard of this guy until now... he's certainly been doing it for a while.
  16. Red Alert 3

But that Russian actress is kinda hot though.
  17. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Oh, n'gai reblogs -- as the nerds say -- plenty of stuff I post. It's my brush with internet gaming media celebrity. It's not a very big brush. On topic, I should add: in two months in London I bought 18 CDs! Most of them at Rough Trade and Sound 323. You know, maybe that town isn't so bad after all.
  18. Movie/TV recommendations

    Oooh, want to see: http://www.aintitcool.com/node/38383
  19. Molyneux on Fable II... "It's flawed"

But didn't he recently give the game "nine out of ten"? I'm getting mixed signals here
  20. Off-Road Velociraptor Safari

http://www.blurst.com/ I am looking forward to this. Their twitter feed says it should be up mid next week, so I expect goodness. Tempted to get iSplume for the iPod too.
  21. Google to buy Valve?!

I wouldn't say Lively is a game. However, to make you go hmmmm, Google has bought an in-game advertising network. That really is their bread and butter and expertise, but at the same time they do have a massive distribution network and infrastructure so having some of that pie, where they could put their ads in, would likely be tempting. They did, after all, just release a browser after everyone said they're not in the browser game (and also bought SketchUp a while back).
  22. Sid Meier

Hey, so, uh, anyone playing Civilization Revolutions? I've been playing DS version over the last few weeks and despite a few problems it's as thoroughly engrossing as any PC version. And that's saying a lot for the DS. I'd love to play an online game, but I don't have wifi here so that sucks But yes, this is still a relatively new release in Euroland (two weeks ago -- now I know your pain, Euro gamers) so it can be easily found in stores. Do pick it up. Quite good
  23. Hey guys, what's your idlethumbs username? Add me.
  24. Lame

Sucks. And all this after the big hiring rush months ago? Sucks even more.
