  1. Idle Thumbs showing up on Google

I do like that I'm the fifth result for "idle thumbs podcast"
  2. Yes. I'm actually thankful for IdleThumbs because they're typically a lot shorter than some of the other gaming podcasts which seem to meander aimlessly for up to (and sometimes well in excess of) two hours.
  3. New people: Read this, say hi.

Regularly updated content of any kind will do this.
  4. ‫‬‭‮‪‫‬‭‮Mirror's Edge

Looks even better in motion http://vimeo.com/2425217?pg=embed&sec=2425217
  5. Double Fine: News sometime this month!

Any chance it could be Atari? I've noticed that the Phil Harrison led company has recently picked up ex-Acti-no-vision games Ghostbusters and Riddick (yay:tup:) IPSO FATSO, maybe this too? Or is that possibly too much for Atari to handle?
  6. It's a vote for any day but Wednesday.
  7. New people: Read this, say hi.

hey, I know you from the internet!
  8. Kinetic typography in games

The kinetic type videos of scenes from movies were cool with the first bunch (Pulp Fiction / Big Lebowski) but they're getting kind of tired now. Anyway, video games are obviously taking cues about production quality and design from the other media, primarily those motion graphics focused fields like music videos and intro sequences, so it's nice to see it... though seeing it in something like a cinematic introduction to a game, as in GTAIV, is a poor use of the format. It's too film-like rather than game-like (ie. interactive.) But I do like what Codemasters has been doing with the Colin McRae series menus in general. They've always been pretty slick, minimal, with nicely animated type. It's nothing mindblowing, but compared to most games' bland menu systems it stands out quite a lot. I wish to see more of that kind of refined design in games, especially if it'll be interactive. (And the Mirror's Edge menu items are badly kerned. It bugs me.) Also: here's a couple of good type things that I haven't seen mentioned http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&VideoID=4450200 (actually, in some ways, the GTA intro reminded me of these. )
  9. ‫‬‭‮‪‫‬‭‮Mirror's Edge

I'm not there yet (close though) so I can't help, but I've been in a few of these "where the fuck do I go now" situations that the hint button doesn't really resolve. The worst is when you're in one of those stuck moments while some dudes with machineguns are shooting you. It's so fucking frustrating. This is a game that does not need guns, of any kind, and they had to game-ify it. I can understand one motivation for it: it gives you greater urgency to keep moving. But there are other ways of doing that. Focus on the whole package delivery idea, have deadlines, have dangerous explosive packages, something other than this. I just wish the whole game was like a giant time trial. I'm liking that mode the best.
  10. I vote: yay. Fuck, no, I can't. I have a meeting on Wednesday.
  11. Little BIG Planet

Another question: I published a level but marked it private since there are some bugs to work out. It gave me a "key". How can I get other people to play this level without making it public? Do I have to invite them into my party and take them there or is there another way?
  12. GET THE FUCK ON GTA NOW

I grabbed the camera real quick so I didn't get a proper shot
  13. Rez HD

Here's a good excuse: that deal is US only.
  14. Grand Theft Auto IV

I'll try to be on if I remember what time that is locally. 1500 EST? Though I'll probably be lagging like crazy.
  15. Hello old thread http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzZX9d18Ebg
  16. Grand Theft Auto IV

Might as well put podcasts on there too.
  17. Fuck Metacritic

MetaCritic wouldn't be a problem if the majority of reviewers didn't use the 7.5-9.5 scale to begin with. Look at their film/music reviews: they're all across the board with the ratings and getting a 90, after a fair number of reviews, is quite a feat of unanimity. But with games? Fairly common and completely predictable. That's not MetaCritic's fault.
  18. The All New XBox Gamertag Exchange Thread!

    I don't see anything wrong?
  19. Little BIG Planet

OK, so I totally created some Hot Scoops
  20. Little BIG Planet

Yeah, it takes a long time to get a good feel/workflow with the editor before you can even do things properly. I've been mostly dicking around with it so far, building little contraptions and creatures and playing around with gears and bolts and strings. I think I spent over two hours in the editor today trying to build one tiny little segment of a level together. It's buggy as hell but I'm going to flesh it out some more so that I can have a good starting point from which to make a newer, better level. On the plus side, I got the "Creator" trophy.
  21. Little BIG Planet

Anybody want to try scheduling a time for a little co-op tour of little big planet? I'm available anytime.
  22. Idle Eyes (aka: art recommendations)

I saw that a while ago: it's batshit insane. The whole thing is made of paper.
  23. NXE impressions?

I don't like it. It's too bloated and slow. I'm hoping that, at least, it improves the Marketplace UI and makes it easy to scroll through/browse, but all that shit is timing out on me now so I don't know how it is. The avatar/new friends list stuff is retarded though. I just want a list of which friends are online and what they're playing. It's really bloody hard to easily see this now. It's there in the guide but I want to see that stuff right when I boot up. On the plus side: system level parties.
