And this is how you get typecast in Hollywood. She's done other stuff. Good stuff even. I mean uh, nevermind.

I dunno, I got about the same amount doing nothing BUT smashing. I made sure to increase my speed and drastically increase the inventory and insurance premiums, so that there was plenty to destroy and plenty to make off of it. Apart from some mistakes I made early (Accidentally bought stuff I didn't need), it was a most profitable venture. Oh, and I wish they'd hurry up and finish their site's community features.

Well, the only problem is that of the next three Wednesdays, one is Christmas Eve and the other is New Year's Eve.

Hey, I love Jason Rohrer too but I think, if anything, his games are more like "poems" and less like "literature." I know that's a rather pedantic distinction, but I think it's a good one.

Yeah. I just beat Chapter 7 myself. The plot is pretty stupid and forgettable. What I hate is that the game even sabotages itself UGH! I hate this game so much but like some creepy obsessive I can't stop loving it either and I keep coming back to it even though I know it's going to frustrate the shit out of me.

We made a quick getaway. While the cops were busy fighting with the decoy, my driver managed to get me, the boss, across town to the northern dock. Eager to get the fuck out there, I jumped into the water, got on the boat and rode off into the sunset. I went out farther and farther into the ocean and nothing was happening; my escape wasn't guaranteed. Then, my driver, whom I had ditched at the dock, informed me that I was on the wrong boat. I was already half way to Cuba at this point and thought it would be dangerous to head back to the dock. Thankfully, the driver was quick witted and took that boat himself. The two boats had a rendezvous in the middle of the ocean, I jumped over to his boat and he took mine and we made a clear getaway. Also, driving in a Jaguar with a rocket flying just to the right of me, and outrunning it, was kinda cool.

LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED

Yeah, I was going to suggest the same thing. S3 is something that you'd use, like, 2% of the time anyway -- the first few hours after posting a weblog when everyone is grabbing it. A few hours later (like now) I imagine that the demand is far more manageable. And since you only pay S3 for what you use, it works out. Er, uh, video gameS. BTW, that ARG wifi network DS game thing that was mentioned? That similar idea was used in MGS: Portable Ops. You get generated characters based on the network that you are near to. Regardless though, it's kind of a glitchy, unpredictable mechanic very much akin to Monster Rancher and the old Barcode Battlers. Apparently, the Barcode Battlers increased demand for some particular grocery products because their barcodes created particularly powerful creatures.

Yes. That's exactly the one that has me stumped.

I imagine that the reason the site is so sloooow is because you have just posted this and you're getting hammered. On the one hand, it's slow On the other, this does mean you're getting more popular

This is true, but it's no less asinine. Microsoft got in a lot of shit for being anti-competitive by integrating the browser into the OS and, years later, it's the same old shit. That's the problem with IE6. Most web developers are waaay ahead of the curve when it comes to web technologies than the average user and by integrating the browser into the OS and not making it possible to run multiple stand-alone versions, they've made it a complete bitch to test for. I had to clear out some IE6 errors this week myself Still, all the annoyances the inconsistencies in IE6 are nothing compared to the shit we had to deal with when Netscape 4 was still a valid option and people on Macs used Internet Explorer 5:fart: (which rendered things in vastly different ways than IE5 or 5.5 on PC) Also, there's this: http://24ways.org/2008/the-ie6-equation Which can be useful, I guess, but I generally prefer to avoid browser-specific code or conditionals. There are CSS workarounds to most everything as long as you aren't anal about things looking 100% the same across every browser. Unfortunately, I work with a lot of designers with a print background

Three months ago Actually, I need to finish this. I got stuck with two puzzle pieces left that were frustrating the fuck out of me (and I did not feel compelled to cheat) and they've just been sitting there for a couple of weeks. I should get those.

I signed up with my thumb username.

If you don't mind selling out to The Man, there are plenty of jobs/work in online advertising. At least, there are around here. Advertising is not going to go away and with companies tightening their spending, online is looking a lot more tempting (and cost effective) than TV or print.

Idle Thumbs 8: Green Lantern is the Blindfolded Fool
n0wak replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
No no. You're doing it all wrong. If you want people to come here in droves you have to write about the PROBLEMS OF Video game JOURNALISM. In parts. -
Anyone want to own their own Mark VII Viper or Cylon Raider? Now that the show's done: they're going on sale.

I'm good for any day this week. I have no plans because I am a loser.
