Grand Thumb Auto X: The Fellowship of the Thumb
n0wak replied to toblix's topic in Multiplayer Networking
Huh. That's interesting. Would the car handle different, due to the damage, based on who was driving their version of it? -
Grand Thumb Auto X: The Fellowship of the Thumb

They just announced the achievements for The Lost and the Damned (less than a month away) and one is particularly of interest for future gaming: Ignoring the crap, motorcyles + baseball bats. -
Idle Thumbs 15: I'll Kill the Last Alien
n0wak replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Yeah, there's plenty of debate about this (still) in the Mirror's Edge thread. I like what RPS said too, equating the core of the game to a racing game. If you enjoy that aspect of it (and the in-game movement really is fantastic) where you're always trying to better your time and performance, trying to get on the leaderboards, you'll likely get a lot out of it. Just wish they fleshed out the whole leaderboard aspect of it a tad more (like, say, Geometry Wars 2.) Unfortunately, to unlock a lot of the time trials you have to complete the single player story campaign -

I have evidence of toblix's suicidal tendencies. Somebody call a therapist. -

Yeah, it's super lo-fi. Have a point-and-shoot camera that takes video and it's set up just to the side of the tv (hence the skewed perspective). -
Sure there are. There are games being made right now that won't be out until 2010. Are you telling me that none of them will surpass, from a technical and artistic point of view, Gears of War... which, by then, will be a four year old game? Pfft. Besides, that is all part of Sony's strategy :shifty: (actual Kaz Hirai quote)

I'm in, but not Tuesdays. Tuesdays are reserved for blowing up toblix with a rocket launcher.

That's CANADIAN TV.

Huh. Look at that. A Mafia 2 thread from 2004 http://www.idlethumbs.net/forums/archive/index.php/t-243.html Also we need more discussion about A Boy and his Blob.

Well, it's hard to say. It's a very love it/hate it type of game and your enjoyment is entirely dependent on what you expect to get out of it. BUT, I can say one thing. I assume you are considering it for PC, if so then you must know that Burnout Paradise is coming with a complete pack next month and if you haven't played it: go for that. It's less frustrating.

So are you of the Miyamoto branch or the Molyneux branch? I tolerate either as long as you're not one of those heathen Kojima followers. Also, I really hate it when people label those that argue in favour of no gods as being "evangelical atheists". No. They're not. That's a very Christian word and definition and it doesn't apply.

All you need* is to show up on Tuesday and message one of us. We'll send an invite to the party. * And an XBox 360, XBox Live membership, and a copy of GTAIV. -
No. It was a general thing. I don't know who has any. PM me or something.

Yes. I'd like one too. And is it me or is http://www.quakelive.com/ completely inaccessible? (No, it's not just me)
-
Is that maybe because of the closed beta factor? I'm guessing you're more likely to have a higher proportion of old school Quake players now. Hopefully once they go public and the masses enter, the skill curve will balance out more. Seems about right, no? Me: need invite.

HEY NERDS, ARE YOU READY? ( r u e ) My nerd badge is suspended because I totally forgot this was today. If it wasn't for someone's offhand remark on Twitter, I'd have missed the premiere. Anyway, yeah, EARTH!

Present. -
Yes, it should be quite pretty. Too bad you're not coming to Toronto. I'd show you around.
-
Yes. This one's been covered extensively http://www.idlethumbs.net/forums/showthread.php?t=5641 It's making me want to dig back in and try to beat the high score. I wonder if the leaderboards in that thread are up to date.

If you're driving the M10, sure. But the Rockies? Or, really, anywhere in Canada (that isn't south ontario or southern prairies)? That to me IS the vacation. I've done two road trips across Canada (one easterly, one westerly) and both were beautiful adventures. Haven't been to the Rockies yet though (but I am hoping for a Yukon trip one day.) I guess it depends on how much you like scenery and nature though. If you're not into that, then, yeah. Might as well stay in Vancouver and daytrip to Banff or something.

What he said. It's beautiful, visually, but the controls are kind of floaty and the goals of the game are rather... vague. Got stuck in some place thanks to some rocks falling on me or something. I can't remember. It seems like it has potential but it has a long way to go.
