  1. J Allard Missing Link discovered!!!

Wow. 2005? I'm having a flash back to my mid 20s.
  2. Maybe they don't know? And with Hera being abducted now, if Starbuck is a hybrid it still remains quite significant. And looking at the big picture, Chief's daughter was a half-cylon until the writers figured out their mistake and dropped in the sudden, out of place, write her the fuck out of the script "you're not the father" bomb.

  4. Street Fighter IV

Oh shit that's awesome AND informative
  5. GDC

I *might* be there and check out the IGF, but I won't be going for GDC proper.
  6. Street Fighter IV

The MadCatz site says they're backordered to April, which seems awfully distant. I'm not saying nobody is going to be playing SFIV by then, but they've kind of missed the momentum of the release.
  7. I'm starting a petition: DO NOT make the podcast longer than it is. Shorter is better.
  8. Beyond Cheesy?

Cool. You can also get bonus rat dung along with BG&E!
  9. Beyond Cheesy?

Some of these puns are horrible but a few of them do Roquefort. Butter just want to say that this is a weird, but gouda, move by UBISoft. The game was creamed in retail so this, at least, gets the word out and exposes new kids to the game, hopefully in anticipation of more BG&E2 news. It's edam annoying that this game once-$60 game is now something being given away with cheese now. It's rather limited exposure, but exposure nonetheless. Anyway, I don't think I can string together anymore puns.
  10. Street Fighter IV

Getting Akuma is pretty easy on the lowest difficulty. It's Gouken that was a pain. I'm about four characters away from unlocking Seth. I can say that I've certainly noticed an improvement in my SFIV play and Seth is becoming a bit less annoying and easier to counter/defeat, but it's still a total fucking hassle when you're fighting him with characters you're not familiar with. It took a while for me to beat him with Zangief before I realized that I can just do jump+spinning Lariat constantly against him. Cheap shit, but you have to fight fire with fire. It's certainly less cheap than constant teleport+piledrivers.
  11. I'm working on site now and won't be home til 7pm EST, three hours too late
  12. Beyond Cheesy?

I should have known when I posted the first pun that this would become a Munster pun fest.
  13. Beyond Cheesy?

I think I might pick it up for the hell of it, assuming I see this cheese productâ„¢ in my local shop. It's worth it, I think, as the game is quite Gouda.
  14. I think they sure as hell tried their damned hardest to get across the point that the lack of love is what led to Liam's death. What I got out of it was the idea that cylons can reproduce but only if they feel "love" or whatever it is programmed to be like. I guess it seems like decent programming. Even if Cavil had female cylons on board, he wouldn't be able to reproduce since he's a douche. Wish some humans were programmed this way. Still, I feel like there's potential for a really, really corny "love conquers all" ending here.
  15. Dantes Inferno trailer

The tagline at the end is appropriate because encapsulates everything I feel about the developers and publishers of this game.
  16. Street Fighter IV

I'm on 360, along with Wrestlevania. We had a few matches tonight and it was good fun. Always nice to play against non-random people because they tend to play for fun and experimentation and don't stick 100% with the familiar characters. If I don't see another Ken/Ryu player (and I say this as someone that does prefer using Ken), it won't be too soon. It's just a shame you can't have multi-person game lobbies like SF2 Live had. Winner stays, loser passes on to the next player. Non playing characters watch the match. That was the great thing in that game (despite its shitty netcode) and it would be really welcome here.
  17. Street Fighter IV

FUHHHHHHK. I had two perfects and three ultra finishes, and I go and lose to Seth on the easiest difficulty. Fucking shit.
  18. Street Fighter IV

God no. I spent like fifteen minutes trying to pull off one of the Normal trial combos with Ken. I took one look at the Hard trials and said "eff that." Apparently, I'm not as good at Street Fighter as I once thought. Then again, I skipped all of Alpha and barely touched 3 so it's to be expected. I am, at least, thankful that they made it so characters can be unlocked on the easiest difficulty. Makes it less of a pain to get through (although it's annoying that in a 1 v 1 game you have about a third of your characters locked to begin with.) The "Defeat Gouken on Hardest Difficulty" achievement, however, will permanently remain outside of my reach.
  19. Nobi Nobi Boy

I ate a cat, then I shat it out. The menu system is unusual. It's an odd thing, and it's even better since you can directly upload to YouTube. Here's my figuring what the fuck out is going on I still don't know.
  20. Street Fighter IV

I think 90% of the people that I played chose either Ken or Ryu. Which is kinda annoying. I think the problem with that right now is that SFIV is still new and everyone goes with the "familiar" characters, of which Ryu and Ken are the best known. I'm sure things will mix up quite a bit after a while. Also, the fact that half the characters are locked at the beginning has a lot to do with it. WHY CAPCOM WHY? But I did get into an eight or so match bout with one dude and we typically chose different characters, including a couple of the new ones, and it was obvious that we were still feeling out the changes to the system. It was quite fun though, especially since there was zero lag and the other guy was about the same skill level. He decimated me with Sagat, but I destroyed him with Honda, and we were about equal with Ken/Ryu, which made for some exciting matches. I kinda wish it had the "coin mode" that SF2 Live (not HD) had, where you can get a party of four players and just take turns. Being stuck in a one on one system makes it hard for a group of friends to play. Well, I think those two are obviously related. Just good design, I guess. But the problem that I keep having is that while regular special moves are easier to pull off, I'm having a harder time pulling off the Supers. Since it's more lenient with the moves, I end up doing a shoryuken or hadouken (single quarter circle) instead of the super (double quarter circle) that I want. Might have made sense to make the super moves use a distinct motion, but I guess the purists would complain. I didn't have any problems with Sagat but Seth is just a fucking nightmare.
  21. Save us John Connor!!! (Part II)

    Seriously, we're done professionally.
  22. Retro Game Challenge

Yes, it is enjoyable(*), but being forced to the challenges one after the other really messes with the flow of the various games. Also, the numerous nods to magazines and other games are nice. http://sorethumbsblog.com/post/78221321/dan-sock-found (*) I'm currently on the second game.
  23. The last song you got stuck in your head.

I had the Ken Stage music stuck in my head since I picked up SFIV yesterday. I kinda miss the music of SFII. It was so catchy. I barely noticed the music in SFIV. Shame that.
  24. Grand Thumb Auto XII: Those Damned Thumbs

I think this was the first one I missed.
  25. Street Fighter IV

Played a bit of it last night when I probably should have been sleeping. I was intending to do a single, quick arcade run through but things ended up taking longer than I planned. For reasons I'll get into later. First off, it's pretty awesome. As a long time fan of Street Fighter 2, and someone that never played Alpha and only slightly played SF3 (which I didn't like all that much), I feel right at home here. Was able to jump right in with Ken and play well and effectively right from the start. It was a good feeling. Everything moves well, responds well and controls well. Basically, it's the SF2 I loved, modernized. I do have a few issues with the controls, but most of those I attribute to the XBox controller. I found the game to be forgiving when pulling off special moves, but, partly because of that, also difficult to consistently pull-off the super combos. When I'd try to do the double hadouken+punch movement, I'd end up doing a shoryuken more often than not. I'm hoping those MadCatz pads or something comes out soon. Anyway, I was plowing my way through the game on Medium difficulty. No trouble initially, but I expected that. I didn't lose a match until I got to E.Honda, when I lost two, and then continued until I got to this new fat-ball character Rufus. Dead or Alive apparently doesn't have a monopoly on character bounciness, although it's considerably more disturbing here. He beat me in the first match because I didn't know what to expect from him -- weird spin moves threw me off -- but had no problem with him in the rematch. Then came Seth. Holy fucking shit. I spent more time *trying* to beat Seth than all other World Warriors combined. I say "trying" because I couldn't beat this cheap, teleporting, unblockable move fucker at all. I gave up and went to sleep. Talk about a dissonance in difficulty. Fuck that guy. But the rest of the game was pretty good. We should play online someday!
