I haven't played it in a few weeks, but I haven't played anything but Space Invaders Extreme in a few weeks. If you see me online, send me a note and I'd be game.

Why? You in need of a writer? And it was something that I didn't do back then, save for typical weblog fodder and personal travel journal. Not exactly worth mentioning, that. It's only recently that it became something with more, shall we say, potential. Processing is pretty fun. I haven't touched it since it was version 0.7 or so, I think, maybe even earlier, but I really want to get back into it. That and Unity. So many things, so little time. How you doing that? Arduino or something similar?

I still think it's a bad idea precisely for the reasons you cite. It basically boils down to the tired old question of what you expect from a review? Are you looking for a personal opinion, a consumer's guide, a critical analysis, or just a measure of game's popularity? Whether a game is constantly played by 3 people or 300,000 people shouldn't affect your opinion if you thought it was complete ass. You should not be intimidated by nerdmobs for voicing it. Even more so, you should not have to face invalidation from the fucking developers themselves.

It's been a pretty great week-and-a-half for me! Continued working. People there seem to like what I've done so far, so it's all good. A few freelance opportunities have also show up on the side for more web stuff. I also started guest writing for Offworld and wrote a short, little piece for Edge. I called these extra-career-icular activities. Also, after almost ten years of weblogging, this is the first time I've ever been paid to write something. Things are looking rosy, and the weather's been great too.

I think I'm messed up.

Pulling out the whole "we have your server logs/took a look at your achievements" bullshit, in response to a negative review, is pretty high up on the whiny scale. I'm not touching the "how many hours you need to play something before rating it" argument with a ten foot pole -- it's so tired -- but every time I've seen a developer do this (more frequent in these days of constant data mining), it has never changed my opinion of the reviewer and it has made me, for sure, never want to touch the game in question. I don't like playing insecure games from insecure developers. I've got enough of that in my own life.

I bought it and it's great. Pretty much the same thing I played on the PSP, but still great. Glad to see that some of my skills are transferable; I'm in the top 250 on the leaderboards! And my games weren't even all that good. Haven't tried any of the multiplayer (or co-op) stuff yet.

I think that Q Games is quickly becoming one of my favourite Japanese game developers, closing in on the lofty high position of Q Entertainment I haven't picked up PixelJunk Eden Encore yet (because I haven't beaten the proper game yet. Need. More. Time.) but damn am I already looking forward to their next game <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EbsMtEv2CE&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EbsMtEv2CE&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

You forgot Space Invaders Extreme! Cause it's awesome and I'll gladly pay again for a console version. It's kinda annoying that Sonic and Knuckles is coming out as a stand-alone download when it should have been on Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection to begin with. I think they said there was no time to do that, which seems kind of... convenient now

Haven't noticed any problems like that. Championship mode is... less of what I expected. At least they have blind character selection now. Suck on that Japan. And I thought the replay functionality would be built in to, you know, any match. Kind of annoying that only "championship" winners get saved. And still no shared lobby for multiple people

If they make a series three, they better put Shynola on there. Maybe some Floria Sigismondi for some CanCon.

I've been doing nothing but HTML and javascript and CSS at work for weeks, so put this in your css .spoiler {border: 1px dotted rgb(237, 196, 194); color: black; background-color: black; cursor: help; padding: 0 10px 0 5px;} .spoiler img, .spoiler object {visibility: hidden;} .spoiled {background: #FFB; color: #000; } and instead of <span style="border: 1px dotted rgb(237, 196, 194); color: black; background-color: black; cursor: help;" onclick="this.style.color='black'; this.style.backgroundColor='transparent';">spoiler text</span> do <span class="spoiler" onclick="this.className = (this.className = (this.className=='spoiler')?'spoiled':'spoiler');">spoiler text</span> This has the benefit of being able to hide inline images too! I don't know about YouTube embeds. And you can re-spoil it after revealing. Need to test it some more.

Man, need to have a secondary night for these. I can't do these Tuesday afternoon matchups anymore

Yeah, I've been listening to it a lot too. "Paris is Burning" too, which fills me with all sorts of weird "my heart is yearning" for Paris feelings. Also been listening to (LOCAL!) band Years lately http://www.yearsmusic.ca/ as well as the dark ambient stylings of Elegi http://www.myspace.com/elegi (which is about as far as you can get from Ladyhawke)

A few of those remind me of some other ones: 1) in one GTA Thumbs session, a death match at the airport I believe, when the game started all the Ripleys (the plane taxis) spawned in one location, on top of the other. It initially lagged the shit out of the game and then became this weird little diversion. No idea what caused it. I think there are screen shots and/or video out there somewhere. 2) DiRT glitched out on me once and I managed to drive over a thousand kilometers (getting all the distance achievements) in about one second. I think the disc loading failed at one instant and the game just went black but it was still registering that I was moving. Annoying that I had to reset, but nice that I got some achievements points for my troubles.

I've pretty much given up on the Trials. There's a bunch of normal ones I can't do; and HARD? I've managed a few for Blanka, Vega, Sagat, but beyond those I don't have a chance in hell. The timing is insane and even if I could pull off one of these, what will it do? In a training environment it's one thing; in a competitive match with an aggressive opponent with network latency? Forget it. I'd be better off working on being consistent with the effective stuff and just playing smart rather than like some instant-reaction cyborg. Which has been working for me well. I finally hit 2000BP yesterday and feel comfortable enough to take on anyone with my Vega. I still encounter the odd good player that destroys me (often with Balrog or Guile. Still learning to counter those. Fucking Balrog is sooo strong.) but overall I'm getting better. Still playing this game more than anything else at this time.
