  1. Street Fighter IV

That's a pretty big downside. I wanted a stick but MadCatz's stupid supply constraints forced me to get a pad (needed something besides the regular XBox controller) and, frankly, I don't really want a stick anymore. It's more that sufficient for me. Most of my Street Fighting of yore was done on the SNES and not the arcade, so it's a throwback in that sense. Plus, it works very well with Mega Man 9 and Splosion Man.

Oh, I realize that. And I have more points than both of you combined
  3. Open Source (Free) Gaming

You missed the best of the bunch. "Star Control 2", aka. "The Ur-Quan Masters" http://sc2.sourceforge.net/
  4. Street Fighter IV

The great thing about SFIV is that it's the kind of game that you can just jump into whenever. Hadn't played in a month or so, and last night jumped in for a few matches with a friend. There was a little rust, on both sides, but it all came back quickly and it was an intense battle. Even recorded it <object width="640" height="505"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vonci4I4W4U&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vonci4I4W4U&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="505"></embed></object> We still make a lot of mistakes, but I'd say we're above average players. Anyone else still playing, or even dabbling? I could go for some more bouts against other people.
  5. Left 4 Thumbs

    Yes! Sunday afternoon, 4pm EST.
  6. WTFFF!!!!

THE ARROW ON HER SHIRT IN PHOTO ONE IS POINTING TO HER HEAD IN PHOTO TWO.
  7. Left 4 Thumbs

Yeah, the final score for that game was like 1220 to 80 or something ridiculous, which really doesn't underline just how close that entire game was, with you guys just barely making through the sewers to get the win.
  8. Left 4 Thumbs

It was a losing battle since we pretty much all ran out of ammo at that point. Couldn't do shit against the constant horde attacks and couldn't revive more than one person at a time.
  9. iPhone/iTouch gaming

You can do this at any time, even in App. This is particularly useful for the annoying apps that mute your music when you start them (not naming any names ) Though I have found that the last update made it a little more sensitive and I've canceled out to Home from a game when I just wanted to change the music. Also, I know that it's probably the BORING answer since it's just chess, but it's really well done chess so I highly recommend "Deep Green."

  11. Yeah, I have to agree with James. The basics of it are pretty obvious, but the nuances take a long while to get adjusted to. I still can't consistently rocket jump and it took me like over an hour of playing as a sniper before I even noticed the little charge meter on the scope -- before that I was wondering why I sucked so bad. After, I was OK. Not to mention that jumping in now is a little intimidating since you're a noob in an established and mature community. It doesn't take too long to get used to it, but be prepared to die often.
  12. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

    In a completely different vein, I've been in a bit of a faux-80s female-led trashy electro pop mood. I adore this so much: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2NQByp791c&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2NQByp791c&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> the perfect balance between kitchy and catchy. and <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZiUZbe-zjY&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZiUZbe-zjY&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> which is wonderfully trashy and not entirely safe for work. BONUS! <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SllfzY1DKYE&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SllfzY1DKYE&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

  14. Strike 2...

Er, yeah. I get confused sometimes on Idle Tongues.
  15. Strike 2...

Gamecube looks like it's sticking its thumb out Well, there's always the PC... up for some TF2?
  16. Left 4 Thumbs

The first video: so annoying. I get out of the train to shoot some zombies and dude for some fucking reason falls off the edge and I spend that whole ordeal sitting there, hanging around. And for the second, I didn't even hear that a tank was incoming -- I don't think anyone did -- and it got us completely off guard. (You should also put video of the very first level when we completely got the jump on you and destroyed you before you could barely leave the safe room.)
  17. MechWarrior 4 re-released for free

God yes. I loved Red Planet, though often I didn't have much of a choice in the matter as the local Battletech (in the basement of the CN Tower) would often be playing that than, you know, Battletech. I remember one time they put us into a game of Battletech set on "hardcore", where shit overheats fast, damage is extensive, and all the buttons are used. Nothing quite like having your core overheating, having to input a key combination on your keypad, over your head, to vent it only to get attacked and having to manually eject. Steel Battalion is not nearly as immersive.
  18. Eurogamer Expo 2009

Hmm... October. I might be in the general area.

If you're on PC, you can play Enviro Bear for free http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=4964.0
  20. Left 4 Thumbs

I was online but saw that you guys were already in game so I went to play TF2 instead I never thought that the 8 player limit would feel so imposing.
  21. The sad sad tale of Tim Langdell

Edge has been pulled again, without Mobigame's knowledge, from all iTunes regions.

Seeing Balrog kick is weird. Seeing him super-deform to do the Ultra is just wacky.
  23. Left 4 Thumbs

If you can play the campaigns on Expert Mode, you're already in good shape. We got slaughtered when we tried it And playing as a zombie. It's fine. You'll get used to them and their quirks in no time.
  24. Will listen tomorrow, but for now I have to say that your games mentioned list is getting increasingly esoteric with each passing episode. Where else can you hear "The Three Stooges in Brides is Brides", "Mega Man 9", "Amusing Educational Telequiz" and "Far Cry" mentioned in the span of an hour?
