  1. Off-topic slightly, but what do you think of Myst IV so far, Redwall? I'm finding the puzzle design a lot better than Myst III at least, which from what I've played of it was crap. That said, I'm not too enthused with the story and acting. Mainly I'm irritated that they undid the Sirrus/Achenar death from the end of Myst, which I thought was the best part of that game.

    And Yeesha sucks.

Actually, I liked the puzzles in Exile better. But I've only gone through Spire so far, and it had a music puzzle (strike one, I'm tone deaf) that didn't make any sense to me at all (strike two). I've just started Haven, and it seems better, but I haven't really found any puzzles yet. I've just been walking around in the jungle... which, I must say, has a very strange predator-to-prey ratio. And yes, Yeesha is annoying as hell.

  2. Adventure game reviews are terrible...

    1. If the reviewer doesn't like adventures (which, sadly, is often the case) they either a) give it a terrible review because they don't like adventures or B) give it a good review because they don't know what's a good adventure and what isn't and don't want to piss adventure gamers (or the developers and publishers off)

    2. If the reviewer likes adventures, then they know adventure games are rare and need huge sales to become a viable genre again and give all but the worst games good reviews

  3. I played on medium and didn't have problems with the snipers. Were you playing on hard, Kingz?

I also didn't die much in HL2; I seemed to just barely survive each encounter, get some health in the next area, and then get into another encounter I just barely survived... etc. Apparently medium difficulty was designed for me.

I seem to remember the snipers being easy though. I just ran from cover to cover until I was able to chuck grenades at them. At the part with Barney there was an ammo box with unlimited grenades, too.

Really, the only parts I remember being hard (i.e. where I died a lot) was outside Nova Prospekt with the 2 or 3 gunships and most of "Follow Freeman".

On topic (:shifty:), I watched a friend of mine play Half-Life 2 and I felt similar. I kept trying to get him to listen to Dr. Breen at the beginning, and he just ran around chucking luggage at guards for twenty minutes. He spent most of the sequence in Kleiner's lab crouched and checking out Alyx's ass. When Alyx stepped into the teleporter he was like, "What's that? Is she going to die?" :frusty:

  4. I think it's hardly appropriate to compare an auteuristic piece as Zim to meaningless (but winky fun) entertainment rolling off the Nickelodeon assembly line.

Powerpuff Girls and Dexter's Lab rolled off the Cartoon Network assembly line... Zim was Nick, though.

  5. If that's directed at me, I really don't know what you're talking about.

Am I accidentally quoting the guy or something? ... cause I've never read any of his work.

Crichton's latest book (State of Fear) implies that global warming was made up to scare people into supporting the environmental movement. (although he's very careful to not actually say that)

  6. just listening to hell march! brings back my first C&C memories! what a bloody awesome song!

anyway i can actually d/l these songs, or am i forced to just listen to em off the website?

    SiN

I think for copyright reasons you can't download them off his site, but I'm sure you can find downloads elsewhere.

  7. I was told that tiberian sun was shit. I remember upon completing the original C&C there was an advert for it that got me all worked up. C&C was so good I couldn't wait for the second one to come out.

I never played it because spaff told me it was shit. Shame.

I thought Tiberian Sun was great. Not the promised messiah to usher in the new era of RTS games (still waiting for that), but it was a good sequel.

Tiberian Twilight would probably have been shit with who EA had behind it before they pulled it. I'm quite happy they're making Red Alert 3 next. I like to think they might just let the Tiberian series end with TS.

Err, what were we talking about?

  8. The whole objective of most of Opposing Force is to find and disable "the package" i.e. the nuke. I just replayed it last week so it's fresh in my mind.

It probably would have been better if he had let them nuke it though.

What was with those Black Ops (the guys with the nuke), anyway? Who were they working for, considering they shot military personell on sight?
