Do we need to have played Someplace Else first? I think there are some interesting HL2 mods in development, but mods of any decent quality with such an engine take forever.

FoA, again. (Along with DOTT. As I mentioned in another thread, they came with my first computer. But I thought DOTT was just fucked up for quite a few years before I got around to actually playing it.) Oh man I know how you feel. I have 3 and CS2 installed at the moment and I only open CS2 when I really need its effects. My retro game collection is pitiful; mostly old LEC adventure games. And The Incredible Machine. (Actually, FoA, DOTT, and IM all came with my first computer. Wierd.) Oh, I've also got Wolfenstein 3D and some old edu-tainment games (Reader Rabbit, etc).

As many people are pointing out elsewhere, it's basically a publicity stunt. "Look, it's under $300!" Good for the short term, but the effects on the games will probably make it a bad idea in the long term.
