I think the G-Man was always on the edge between seriousness and cheesiness anyway.

I Am So Lame (vote for me in a contest begging thread)

I'd vote if I didn't have to log into FilePlanet. -
The one time I noticed some (probably scripted) AI was when I ducked under a tunnel in the ground during one of the big Strider fights and the Strider bent its legs to kneel down and continue shooting at me. Scared the shit out of me, actually, because I'd never seen them do that before. While I agree HL1's Marine AI was much better, you also didn't fight the Marines all that much, which was one of the (few) things that disappointed me about HL. The Xen aliens were just like any other game monster; the Marines were interesting. (The same symptom is found in other games as well: Halo, Far Cry, etc. God knows why developers replace intelligent enemies with stupid ones. Too much work, I guess.) I actually read a thing by the guy who did Halo's AI where he explained (among other things) that originally, the "Leader dead! Run away!" line was played much less; but people didn't realize that the grunts were running away until they made the line play every time it happened. So your comment about visible AI is very true.

"Think of automobiles powered by these machines! Think of tanks! Think of AIRPLANES!" "Kerner, you fool! Think BIG like the AMERICANS! Think of BOMBS!" -- The Fate of Atlantis

Yeah, I quite like the evolution of April; I just hope Zoe's not too similar to April in the first game (as her description seems to indicate).

But if you're going to have ALIENS INVADING, you might as well throw in some unusual weapons.

I think it's just that it's much harder to give 3d-art personality than it is 2d-art. (But it certainly can be done, as the perennial example Psychonauts shows.)

I don't mind "frak" so much (for the most part the actors pull it off) but "motherfrakker" is a bit too much for me.

He's so naive.

I started watching it (from a link elsewhere, before seeing this post), anticipated actual gameplay, and closed it, bored, after about ten seconds. Also, Far Cry's story was saved by the voice acting. It was so bad that it seemed like a parody rather than a serious attempt. The guy who played Jack was especially hilarious.

You should probably watch the miniseries first.

Keep in mind that according to RDM the occupation of New Caprica will only last 4-5 episodes.

This sort of thing reminds me of Generals and Zero Hour. The feature that THE GAME WAS NAMED FOR was held back for the expansion pack.

He does look a bit like Joe Kucan in the last image, minus the evil.

Pat Robertson? I agree though. It's really awkward to be a liberal defending Bush to a bunch of conservatives.

At some point I actually destroyed the orphanage (or at least a random building the citizens claimed was the orphanage).

The thing that made Tyrol's story alright for me was Dean Stockwell. I'm hoping he's a Cylon just so we can have him around for a long time (and RDM's podcast made me think he is. "Umm... I guess I can't talk about Cavil much until Part II. He's a priest. Yep.") I agree with basically everything that's been said here (which is rather depressing, really. Not very interesting at all.) I'd like to add one more bad thing about Part I: no Cottle. Luckily, we'll be getting some in Part II.

Snakes on a Plane (and Gnarls Barkley)
Redwall replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Movies & Television
Holy shit, until you posted that link I thought this whole "snakes on a plane" thing was a joke. (I thought the Samuel L. Jackson thing was related to Stay Alive.) -
I think it's always been that way, oddly. Irked me at first too, but you learn to love it.

Interestingly, I got Blade Runner for $10 at my local grocery store. Must be the game to get in awkward places.

Save it as .png (or .gif). JPG doesn't support transparency.

Ewww, Litmus. (It's a good quote, just not a very good episode.)
