  1. Fable: Where's the story??

I'm confused as to the point of this post. Fable's story isn't any worse than most mainstream games... why single it out? Molyneux, for all his huffing and puffing, has never put an emphasis on story (Black and White? Populous? etc.) and with Fable from what I'd read before I played it I was expecting a traditional, cliche-ridden fantasy story (which is what I got).
  2. Mother wins ban on violent porn

Posts in Idle Banter aren't in the count.
  3. Some free advice to Peter Molyneux...

You have recalled it correctly, except that you can do the "truly evil" option? Maybe it's because I have the PC version (The Lost Chapters), which has extra stuff. In fact I remember most quests having such a "truly evil" option; for example, in one quest a guard hires you to kill an assassin, but the assassin will offer you money to kill the guard instead. You can take the assassin's money, then kill the assassin and go back and get your money from the guard (and kill the guard too, though somewhat pointless).
  4. PS3 SixAxis/rumble U-turn imminent?

The gist of it is this: a guy has two sons. One is a hard worker who stays on the farm and is the best son ever and so on. The other one (the prodigal son) goes to the city, gets drunk, gambles, fucks hookers, etc. The prodigal son goes broke, ends up with nothing, and goes back to his father. The father throws a party and lavishes gifts on the prodigal son, which pisses the first, hard-working son off. Thus there isn't really any actual repentance involved (the prodigal son returns not because he realizes the error of his ways, but because he has nowhere else to go). The story is about unconditional forgiveness/mercy. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming?
  5. PS3 SixAxis/rumble U-turn imminent?

    No, that's not the point.
  6. Post You Pic Thread

I know this wasn't what you intended, but I immediately thought of Gina (the Pegasus Six)...
  7. Command & Conquer 3 demo

To play as Nod and/or against GDI in the demo, drop down the faction select box and hit 'N' and/or 'G'. (This apparently works for the AI types as well, but not the alien faction.)
  8. Command & Conquer 3 demo

Nope, that's new. But it's the way most strategy games work and was a concession made to appeal to the larger RTS audience or something... in the BFME games I think there was an option to switch between C&C-style (left click to move) and regular-style (I didn't actually play them, but I recall that being mentioned), but apparently no such option was implemented for C&C3. Which is unfortunate, because I keep trying to play it like the old C&Cs. And sometimes it doesn't work that way, e.g. the jumpjet move in the tutorial is left-click to move. I know way too much about C&C for my own good.
  9. Command & Conquer 3 demo

This was actually in Tiberian Sun (and was awesome back then, too) but was for some reason cut from RA2 and Generals.
  10. Command & Conquer 3 demo

I think it's great, but that's from a guy whose PC gaming started with C&C.
  11. Supreme Commander demo out now!

Military wise, TW is obviously more intensive. And I suppose the character management thing is more complicated. And the taxes and population and... okay, maybe you're right. I was just thinking of Civ's broader scope, I guess.
  12. Supreme Commander demo out now!

I love playing Total War, but I autoresolve the battles whenever possible (i.e. whenever my troops so massively outnumber the enemy that I can take the exaggerated troop losses the computer calculates) because the strategic (turn-based) game is much more interesting IMO than the tactical (real-time) battles. It's like Civilization light.
  13. Supreme Commander demo out now!

Haha, this is hilarious. The C&C community is all "Generals sucked, EA sucks, and C&C3 will suck, all hail SupCom!" and here it's the opposite. Since I'll always hold a special place in my gaming heart for C&C (Red Alert was one of the first PC games I played, and I eagerly got C&C and Tiberian Sun soon after that), I'm looking forward to C&C3 as well. Kane is just about the best video game villain ever (in terms of over-the-top evilness, at least). I haven't tried the SupCom demo, but I'm not planning to because the screenshots never interested me.
  14. Peacemaker

The conspiracy theorist in me says there might be a reason for that.
  15. Peacemaker

    Or Hidden Agenda, perhaps?
  16. New people: Read this, say hi.

I imagine most of us had to do at least some editing to get our avatars to the appropriate dimensions for forum use, so I'm not sure yours really counts, Miffy. I think I can help to bring the average down a bit, though not close to the ideal 1 or 2 for new posters.
  17. How would you do that?

Eh? Sure you can. I used to do that all the time.
  18. How did you find Idle Forums?

    From AGS, for me.
  19. Let's all celebrate with new avatars!

I changed my avatar a couple of weeks back, and what do you know, it goes with the new forums (well, except for Idle Banter).
  20. So I just played Dreamfall...

Yes, I think it's common consensus on these forums that Dreamfall is pretty terrible as a game. I think that, in general, it's given some credit for trying to do things that most games don't, but certainly not for succeeding at them on any level.
  21. Battlestar Galactica Season 3

Yeah, they seem to reserve real cliffhangers for the actual season finales. (Okay, so nobody thought Adama was going to die at the end of season one, but everything else that happened in Kobol's Last Gleaming was an actual cliffhanger.)
  22. Wii number exchange

Yes, generally. (Adama is his surname, so it could also technically refer to his son Lee Adama, callsign Apollo.)
  23. Battlestar Galactica Season 3

According to the podcast (which has Tamoh Penikett [Helo] and Grace Park [sharon] in addition to the usual RDM), Adama and Roslin were high on New Caprica. I honestly can't tell if he's joking or not. Also, Moore's summary of the episode is, "How much do you hate Starbuck?", which I think I found much funnier that it actually is.
  24. PlayStation Mayhem

Yes, originally it was "couldn't", but people are lazy and don't really pay attention to what they're saying most of the time anyway.
