The Purcell art has nothing to do with Monkey Island 5, but with a Monkey Island animated movie that was proposed a decade ago and died in extremely early stages. Of course it wouldn't have anything to do with Monkey Island 5 anyway because Monkey Island 5 doesn't exist.

Right on its announcement I remember them talking about it being online, but since then you can't find anything on it. I don't know what conclusions to draw from that.

Something I've never been clear on, is this game online?

Where's Starcraft Adventures?
-
Because this one has a unique 3-day structure. The game takes place over the same three days, and you save every time you go back in time and start it over by playing the Song of Time. But when you do that you lose all your replenishable items and progress (at least the time-sensitive stuff). There are also owl statues located in important places that allow you to save exactly where you were (for if you have to turn the game off in the middle of a dungeon, for example), but these are temporary saves that disappear once you reload them. Like I said, the game's pretty daunting and strange at first. I got it when it came out and honestly got nowhere and threw it down almost immediately. But I came back to it several months later and forced myself to play a decent bit of it before giving up again. You do get used to it. EDIT: Or what Noyb said.

Majora's Mask is amazing. Unlike most Zeldas though it's pretty intimidating from the start, and the time system requires getting used to. Once you're into though it's awesome.
-
But Ocarina of Time isn't even comparable to Simon 3D. Yes, we all know 2D ages better than 3D and that Fate of Atlantis still looks great, but you know you didn't even get the damn shield. You haven't played the game.

Yes, you'll want to do that. If you're a fucking idiot. Majora's Mask is not a game that you skip. So it runs on the OoT engine and has the same visual style. Get the fuck over it. It's got more depth and originality than any other Zelda game, though Wind Waker definitely took a cue from some of its better aspects. And no person who says "In Zelda, I pretty much know there's nothing out there" can have possibly played a Zelda game for over fifteen seconds. Majora's Mask has TONS of voluntary shit to do and find, including 52 heart pieces (the most of any zelda?), and they're not all just at the bottom of a lake or something but in fact involve doing all kinds of weird and awesome shit like thwarting the invasion of cow-abducting aliens. All the various side quests probably amount to 50% of the game's content (and considerably more of the game's awesomeness, so if you stupidly just beat the game and quit you missed out on the whole game), as the main quest is relatively short in comparison to other Zeldas. The game also has all these little stories going on in the background and you can track down where certain characters are hanging out at a certain point in the three day time line even though you don't need to and you can talk to all the NPCs while wearing different masks just because you want to see what they'll say about it (much like performing your different powers on people in Psychonauts). There's just so much stuff to find in this game, and it's also got this wonderfully bleak tone (that you know, doesn't stem from having environments with a lot of mist and brown textures but from the story) and it feels more like a personal, side adventure than one of an epic scale (similar to Link's Awakening). If you passed it over because you thought it was just an OoT clone or because you don't like the way it looks then at the very least you missed out on something really good and are sadly an idiot. Or you could just go straight to Wind Waker, which is also a great game.

Yeah it sounds like all the lines that carry over from Culture Shock were re-recorded.

I am also posting this from my Wii, though not before like a day of not being able to stay connected.

I just want to second Marek's paper mario 2 recommendation so you don't pass it over like every single person in the world did.

I ended up just getting Zelda. I went in thinking I was going to buy Red Steel and Rayman as well, but I got cold feet at the last minute and decided I was going to hold my money until I saw more reviews. I really should have picked up Rayman. Red Steel's not looking so attractive after reading some reviews, but I dunno, I may end up caving in just because I want to shoot stuff with the Wiimote. I'm having so much fun with the Wii right now I'll play anything regardless of quality.

Aggg, terrible memories and pain revisited. The game looked very promising, and it was no doubt the biggest blow to the adventure community until Sam & Max got axed. The Gamespot feature is really good and detailed and makes for an interesting read. EDIT: When was this feature written?

I'm totally excited about this.

Sure a few graphical tweaks might be necessary, but it's not like this sort of thing hasn't been done before. There are lots of adventures that have received console ports, including Monkey Island 4, and I don't think that game suffered much in the transition (at least as far as the concerns you brought up). Text was made easier to read and pixel hunting wasn't really any less or more of a problem...that damn banana picker was equally inconspicuous in the PC version. I don't think the Wiimote suffers from "wobbling," either...but that's something that really can't be seen until we get our hands on it. As far as I know if you don't have trouble with wobbling using your mouse you shouldn't with the pointer. The PC version might be the ideal one, but I really can't think of a reason why Sam & Max couldn't work quite well on the Wii.
-
I'm just going to add that it would be totally awesome if Sam & Max does end up with a Wii port.
-
You can buy BG&E as a digital purchase on Gamespot. (Through "boonty?")
-
Why can't you have a "full-world" game on the Wii?
-
As an aside, why would anyone want a Grim Fandango movie? And why Tim Burton?
-
They have the rights to all the others. They might actually still have the rights to sell Hit the Road too. Not that they will.

Good one.
