grim fandango was one of the longer adventure games ive played. full throttle was short, but very satisfying. sam&max was quite lenghty as i recall. SiN
-
it is their first game, so i can only assume that by "double fine" gamespy means "tim schafer and co". and yes, its coming to pc, xbox & ps2 SiN

thats beside the point. the point is that the review was objective, and not biased towards anyone/thing for cash reasons or whatever other nonsense reasons were posted. SiN

not true. PC Gamer UK, Issue 143. The Moment of Silence scores a 48% by John Walker, who is one hell of an adventure game fan. the reviews concluding paragraph has the rather excellent line, "A kind word to finish: Um, it's better than Myst. But then so's typhoid" I don't understand why everyone insists that every published magazine MUST be the devil ... its simply not the case. SiN

oh man, i SO need to read that! a quick google search says that no-one has any scans ... would u mind scanning it up for me plz? SiN

ah, Jill of the Jungle brings back memories ... ... when i got an internet connection in, ohhhhhh, 1996, i wasnt quite sure what to do with it. my dad was using it for email, etc, but i didnt find it too handy. until of course he showed me that we could d/l game demos with it. so every weekend me & my dad would sit at the pc, and download tonnes & tonnes of demos. i play 'em all, delete most of em, but Jill of the Jungle (and every epic megagame for that matter) stayed on the HDD ... i absolutely loved the game! unfortunatly, i never registered for a thing, so sorry, no luck here. but if u get your grubby hands on it & dont mind passing it along, i would be very greatful SiN

it looks absolutely awesome! and on a related note, having read todays action news, it seems schafer will be updating the news daily! :) SiN

i am, kinda. see, i absolutely love collecting up all the boxes and neatly stacking them up on my shelf (which is near full now). if i can find a game in the original box at a reasonable price, im definitly buying it! if i cant, i dont mind a torrent. the thing is, if im gonna pay good money for it, i wanna get the whole thing, box et-all. if not, than its not quite worth it for me. SiN

i'd rather not pay $25 bucks extra to get it shipped to canada with the box ... thats ridiculously expensive. SiN
-
no we wont, because im pretty sure people were saying the exact same thing 10 years ago, except they must have said "when the common processor speeds are about 1-2GHz" instead ... havent seen any changes have we? eventually though, ur right, the focus will change, but it'll be independent from how hardware evolves. after reading that jordan mechner interview on gamasutra, i totally had to get the game. i have a torrent going SLOWLY right now, but i was JUST gonna order it from cd-access until i read this about shipping to canada : so, its either ebay or torrent for me SiN

i quite liked the article ... many points made LOTS of sense. as a programmer, the bit about having sony, microsoft & nintendo somewhat "unite" is definitly a good thing. now i kno they're in competition and all, but at least if they all had a single, unified API that came in a single DevKit, life would be easier for your standard programmer. AND games would be on all 4 systems (pc included) always, since a "port" would be a recompile away ... ... now each system will have its own unique commands (like the 'cube having gba connectivity) but if 95% of the syntax was the same, it'd make developers lives far easier and make game creation far cheaper. mine stutters at load points, and i have a pretty high-end laptop, but im REALLY not bothered to fix it ... it stutturs for like 2 seconds or something ... i can live with that! im FAR to busy enjoying the game to bother to screw with the game. SiN

good review ... a little too "im a hardcore tolkien fan talking about how inaccurate BfME is" at some points but you also got your gameplay related points across very well, so thumbs up on the review. SiN

gta2 was the best game in the entire series in terms of pure gameplay. while gta3+ are all awesome, nothing beats that overhead view for planning/manouvering an escape from the cops ... also, the missions in gta2 were rather cool, quite varied. if u havent tried gta2, u DEFINITLY need to give it a shot! hey, you guys got worms3d before we did here in north america ... i couldnt wait for the canadian release date, so i imported it for C$100 ... fun game, so it was worth it i suppose. SiN

PSP review on gamespot "To turn the PSP's power on, you'll slide a switch..."
SiN replied to jp-30's topic in Video Gaming
is it just me, or does GameSpot seem very pro-PSP? they seem to have alot more enthusiasm for the psp, and let the "little things" go by, while nit-picking at the DS ... SiN -
was on the llamasoft forum earlier today ... it seems Unity has been canned. fuck, im SO sad about this ... first sam&max and then Unity ... innovation & creativity have officially died. the odd thing is though, im no sad in the sense that "shit, ill never get to play unity", its more like, "damn, there goes our last hope at a great indy game" i should have seen it coming when yak didnt update his blog for months, but i thought he was in crunch mode ... the final touches were being put onto the game, but alas, there'll be no more psychedelic shooting for a while. its a pity really, and thats the second game lionhead has cancelled ... they seem to be trimming their fat, and i totally understand why unity had to be canned, i just wish it didnt have to happen. comments?
