  1. Thunderpeel do what women do, LOSE WEIGHT IN ORDER TO FEEL BETTER ABOUT YOURSELF.

Weight loss is the best anti-depressant!

Yayyy!! Significant weight loss makes me feel better about myself and improves the level of attractiveness of the men who hit on me! Hurraayyy!!! My life is better when I am thin! :) :)

  2. That's the worst advice ever. But I agree! Thunderpeel I'm sorry to hear that happened to you, but I think you will enjoy the freedom after a while. 'Specially if you start exercising and working out and doing all that healthy diet bollocks, 'cos then you can feel good about yourself and enter the dating world with a newfound confidence blah blah blah. So I recommend exercise! It is the remedy to everything. And some good friends and some dancing is also a remedy for everything.

    Kroms you win.

  3. Hehe, your mum sucks. Female anatomy is the most awesome to draw. 90% of people I draw are female, just because I find their anatomy and faces so much more appealing to draw.

I also like drawing, so much I starting art uni in September. That's gonna be cool. I also like playing guitar and writing. Recently I started writing a story that's going well except for that after every other paragraph I seem to have written BLAH BLAH BLAH THIS BIT IS SHITE REWRITE REQUIRED. But hey whatever, it's fun!

Also I'm really poor right now so I'm going to make little greeting cards out of my designs and sell them on Brighton Seafront, and also busk because surely people will give me SOME money for humiliating myself for playing not-so-great guitar at them. Especially if I have a sign that reads I AM SHIT AT GUITAR AND THIS EXPERIENCE IS KILLING ME BUT I'M DOING THIS BECAUSE I NEED MONEY... :(

  4. Yeah they did in the end, I am not sure what the exact problem was. But she still needs the part for her car, which is stuck near Calais, but I have two weeks to ship it to some address for her :)

Okay next question for those of you who live in Paris - where's cool to go? I've done the touristy crap when I was in school and I hated it. I did some flashy restaurants and stuff another time, and that was cool. But really I wanna see some cool stuff - cool pubs/trinkety shops/little local cafes/nice parks/anything cool like that. I will be heading there to see my mum eventually so would be good to get some interesting leads....

  5. Awww, I think it must be something wrong with Calais indeed. They need to get right to the South of France too, and there's six of them, so it's gonna be no easy or cheap task to find an alternative. And then even if they got there, they'd have to drive back to Ireland somehow...

At the moment I'm just waiting for my mum to call me back so I can talk about how to help her further, I reckon I can order the part online and send it to some address there for her, superfaststyle, and maybe she can get a mechanic to sort it out for her soonish.

  6. Hey frenchies!

My mum is on holiday in France with my sisters, however it all got off to a bit of a bad start when the 'Hydraulic Slave Cylinder' on her car blew fucking up while she was driving. Now her car has broken down and apparently it's a bank holiday over there and her french in minimal, and since none of my sisters studied French in school LIKE I ADVISED THEM TO, they're a bit stuck. A bit stuck somewhere near Calais, but will be heading in the general direction of Paris today in a rented car or something.

However, if they can't get the part for their car and have it fixed, they're kinda screwed cos it's a seven seater and for some reason this is irreplaceable and will leave them stranded, I don't know the exact details because my mothers heart was too broken and she wasn't making a great deal of sense on the phone.

Can some of you French folk maybe try to locate, using the magic of phonery, from your local scrapyard, a HYDRAULIC SLAVE CYLINDER for a Mitsubishi Chariot, 1997cc, Diesel engine, year 1995, erm... let me know if you need any more information. If you can acquire it or find out a place where it can be acquired, my mum can come pick it up off you (if you live enough by, but I seem to recall most of you living Paris-area), or something, I don't know. We'll figure it out if you find it. And of course I will pay you lots of money (well, I will pay for any incurred costs) because my mums holiday will be saved, my little sisters will all be saved, and you sir, you will be a hero.

  7. Okay the deal is that those photos look very much like me (IRL me but I can't find a good photo comparison) but are not me, I was a bit creeped out when I saw them. They look like a weird cross between me and my little sister. I guess the only people who are going to care about this thread are people who know me personally, and even then they're not actually going to care. Oh PS I started the thread whilst logged in on Spaff's laptop and then couldn't be bothered to delete it, log out, log in and repost it.

Anyway, Dan believed it was me when I posted it as my facebook profile the other night. And Dan's known me for four years.

Knowing my dad she probably is my half sister. Her mum is probably also my half sister and that's why the resemblance is so strong.

  8. Well fuckers, I read a website about how to avoid getting ELECTROCUTED during thunderstorms and it said something like, KEEP WATCHING TV! Stay indoors and watch TV, don't unplug the TV because you might die. Something like that anyway.

Elmuerte, it doesn't start properly. Power flashes on for a second but then goes off. Anything can be done about corrupted memory?

Thanks for all the advice everyone. Might try hacking the box apart later. Will prepare a "welcome home" speech for Katie later...

  9. Hate typing forum posts on my phone ...

Anyway I'm catsitting for someone while they're on holiday. Was trying to watch TV and then an awesome thunderstorm started. As one particularly loud crash of thunder occurred, however, the digibox went off.

Everything is plugged into a surge protector and nothing else seems affected. But the light on the digibox won't go on now, except for half a second if I unplug it and then plug it back in. Is it normal for the light to remain off if the cable somewhere has been lightning'd? Will it work again if the cable is fixed? I don't even know how cable works, doesn't it go below ground? I don't m ow what I'm talking about as I do not have a tv, it took me 6 fucking hours trying to figure out how to make the picture be shown in colour instead of black and white... The digi box is a goodmans if that helps. And I don't know what the cable provider is. Is that what you call them, cable providers? Anyway.

  10. There is also a really high level of rape crimes in South Africa, which goes hand-in-hand to support the survey results.

I've been hit on by a number of south african men and honestly, with no PC sugarcoating... a disproportionately high number of them were extraordinarily sexually aggressive and "slimey" ("I believe God sent you, an angel on Earth, to meet me. I believe it is fate. You are the most beautiful women I have ever seen"... blah blah blah). I'm pretty sure that most women who have been hit on by random SA men can tell you it was not a pleasant experience, maybe even verging on quite scary. Whether you want to be over-opinionated in a way that is different from me about it or not, Thunderpeel, as a girl I can tell you that the vast majority of experiences I have had with SA men have been overwhelmingly bad.

Of course this is not reflective of all south african men - I'm not stupid and I don't judge an entire group of people based on a couple of them that I have happened to meet. However, it does seem to reflect on an attitude adopted by an obviously significant number of people in South Africa, towards women. I think it's safe for us to discuss this without being deemed racist ;)

The article was really amazing and saddening for me to read. There is also apparently a high level of male-male rape, which was pretty amazing to me. I guess it is a power thing, but I have never been to SA and haven't met enough real (born and raised) SA people to really feel like I have enough of an understanding to discuss it properly. Interested in hearing what everyone else has to say about it.

    Anyway it's pretty fucked...

PS when I say SA men, I mean men who were born and raised in South Africa. I can't think of an example off the top of my head where I've had similar uncool experiences with men from South Africa who were raised in or have lived in the UK for a good number of years.

  11. Hey, if anybody has that edition of the Faraway Tree that Spaff posted above, I will actually pay you as much as I can afford for it. It brings me happy memories but I have been unable to find it these days :(
