It wasn't the story that was immersive, it was the way it was told. The game made you actually feel emotion, and concern for the world around you, after you cause the cascade, you see the death and destruction caused by it. After you fight your way through swarms of Marines and reach the surafce, you only discover that the situation is much worse above than below, then must subside back into the murky ground. There are many more examples, so don't say the game is mindless violence with no story.

Make a GTA game with good graphics...

The story of D3 is basically the same as that in Half Life 1

okay, if you just d/l the fileplanet 25 minute version, the 1st half is valve's presentation which features the arrival at city 17, then the dune buggy,then another vehicle which is like a hovercraft, then some combat agaisnt combine troops, then you meet father gregory, then fight some striders. The second presentation by ATI is my fav, it starts in an apartment building where you meet some people living there and see combine troops searching rooms, more dune buggy stuff, then you meet eli vance(the black scientist from black mesa), then a strider attack, then CS on the source engine.

Yo, I'm Chepito (Real name Dan) Found this site through MixnMjojo, Lovin' it so far. Into all the old LucasArts adventure games, (My fav. being Grim Fandango obviously) and i also like FPS games like Half-Life. I'm 18 years old and will be going to college in the fall. Other than that i like going fishin' and jamming...

Watch the video, at the very end they show Counter Strike running on the source engine, that is what HL2 mulitplayer is going to be, CS and Day of Defeat on the source engine. In addition in case no one knows...Valve has remade HL, Op4, BS, TFC, CS, DoD all on the source engine and will be released with HL2, it may be seperate and cost very little or ship with the game.

I'm currently playing through the Longest journey, it's pretty good.

It does look like it has alot of potential. And it looks like it's gonna another one of these new "true" FPS games, where you can actually see your body, i.e. leg's arm's, etc. just by looking down...
