It's VERY like Brass-Eye... Scary, eh?
Who are these chumps, anyway? Where's their "secret" website?
-
The title of this thread speaks for itself.Huh?

That video is the fucking worst thing I have seen.WHAT IS THE POINT OF THAT THING
Is that a picture of you with Peter Molyneux? If so, did you tell him how "twattish" you consider him to be?

The UI is fine...? Not sure what your problem with it is... You'll probably get used to it after some time, it's pretty straight forward.
Also, of course it changes for Widescreen TVs. You must have it set up wrong.
There's millions of them on Amazon, too (search for 360 SCART). There's an official one and loads of third party ones. I bet they're all pretty equal really.
-
1. Um?
2. Gold membership allows you play games online with your chums.
3. Ah..
4. You can buy a SCART lead, and yes, it does look very nice with one!
5. No you set that yourself in the Settings.
6. No, once you've used a credit card it "helpfully" remembers it for you so you don't ever have to enter it again... Although you can't delete it either

No harddrive or online content? Surely not? No harddrive means no (extremely limited) backwards compatibility and no online services means... No XBLA games or online matches with chums!

Yessum! This thread's hit the right forum... Anyone else interested in Speedball 2? I have to say that I'm a little let down by the fact it's literally an emulation of the Amiga version... but hopefully they might "spruce" it up in some way. At least the gameplay should be good!

Just to re-add my 2c: Gears and Guitar Hero are great places to start, IMO. I've not played Crackdown, though. I, personally, am bored to death with "gritty" games. I liked Gears because it was fun, well designed, very polished and... fun, despite the grit.
Hope you like whatever you end decide on!
Also: Make sure you pick up these games second hand... (except maybe Guitar Hero)... "next gen" prices are not nice!

...so yes.You expect me to take the time read links? ME?! Hmph!
(Thanks for pointing that out.)

I guess everyone was waiting to do that!

I didn't mind the original, way back when, but seriously... this has zero to offer to today's gamer! They haven't changed anything... it's the same shoddy game with slightly spruced up graphics...! No new moves! No new playstyles! No new characters!
Why not go for something more playable, like IK+, or just give us Street Fighter Alpha 3 and be done?

I'm pretty sure that's Team17Doh!
I'm sure there was a game company called Level 17. Somewhere... Honest.
Edit: Actually I was mixing Team17 with these guys... maybe they if aimed for a higher level they would have produced some decent games

Read: "Our profits look like they might begin to fall, let's take do some research. Gee, it turns out that the public has caught up with all those moaning critics who complained about formulaic re-releases. Plus there's an older generation of gamers emerging who don't have the free-time to develop the skills necessary to become proficient at stupidly hard games. They've got money, as well. Guess we should do something 'new' and 'exciting'."

Is Bully coming to the 360?
-
Not sure about the list so far (wasn't Lost Planet supposed to be hugely disappointing?). As far I'm concerned, there's two great games on the 360:
Gears of War
Guitar Hero II
There's nothing else I've played I couldn't leave, but I haven't played an awful lot. There could well be some other great games out there that I'm completely ignorant to (Viva Pinata always looked interesting and Oblivion got good reviews, but I've never found the time to get into it properly).
Metacritic (an average score from loads of different reviews) says:
1 Gears of War (2006) 94%
2 Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, The (2006) 94%
3 Guitar Hero II (2007) 93%
and then...
4 Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (2006) 90%
5 Forza Motorsport 2 (2007) 90%
6 Call of Duty 2 (2005) 90%
That's it for anything over 89% :'(
I would heartily recommend Gears of War and Guitar Hero II (if you don't already have GH2 on the PS2, or something).

Prince of Persia was a sweet remake and worth the cash. I didn't know Bomberman was out.... How could I miss that?? Also, Speedball II (Amiga) is on its way for the 360 LA, too.
-
Lol! Good job! It's funny when you just know that you're going to play them one day, so you may as well pick them up now
-
Ah! Thanks, Dan!

Cool..... It certainly sounds like the stuff regarding the Consolevania towers is a reference to the promise of "better things" (ie. it's exactly the same, only now they've got some guy who knows nothing about computer games to answer to).
It makes you wonder why they've gone back to their old show... I can only imagine it's because they enjoyed making it so much?

Time will tell!

I have to break a lance (Dutch expression) for Gears of War here: I thought it was rocking good and I'm a PC gamer historically.Same here. Plus, there's nothing really like it on the PC, it certainly doesn't borrow as much people are saying. The duck and cover gameplay was inspired, if you ask me. It's a straight forward shooter, with not much else, but it's also highly addictive, extremely playable, polished and most of all, fun, game. The storyline sucked, as did the characters, but it was inventive enough to the adrenaline pumping. I doubt it will find an audience on the PC, though, it's too straight-forward (ie. consoley) for the PC market, I think.
If you want to talk about sub-PC, uninteresting FPSs, then surely we should start with things like Prey?

Thanks for your comments, Rodi! I'll keep watching the series.
Watershed moment for me; guarantees I'm hooked on this show, as I couldn't agree more (massively-over-hyped Space Invaders reskin that it is).Well, he didn't say it was a bad game, so you might disagree there. I just found it a pleasure to play, though, re-skin/hyped or not.
Just remember: he's "not evil!"Now! I DO seem to remember something about Consolevania being made into a TV show? Is that right? Is all this (Consolvania Towers/The Sponsors) a reference to the failure of that? Or am I completely wrong?
-
Yikes... this is the first episode of Consolevania I've ever seen... Freaky, is the word I'd use. I felt there were quite a few references I didn't get (who's the "dog" character? who was the "not evil" guy supposed to be? was the guy in the anorak a reference to anyone in particular?). The reviews themselves were good, as it's nice to hear someone talk somewhat in detail about games, and feel like you're on the same wavelength. Some of the comments that were made were really interesting, too. It's a helluva lot better than Gamesmaster and that other one with Violet Berlin... but of course, they were shite.
Not quite sure where these guy's boundaries are the moment though, I kind of get the feeling that they could come out with some really ignorant borderline rascist/homophobic/sexist stuff for no reason... but that's the "thrill" of homemade internet videos, I guess. Will I end up liking them, or is part of the comedy laughing at them for their "outrageous"/unpredictable comments? Hmmm.
"Gears of War isn't really that good" - Whaaa? I respectfully think he's talking out of his arse on this one. For me it was the first 360 game that made think "phew, there ARE decent games for this machine". Still, we can't all agree on everything. I might check out Overlord based on his review, though.
MASSIVE HYPOCRISY! It's in the game

I'm well aware of that post (and the thread attached to it). What the fuck does that have to do with anything?
