Sal wins, most likely... but I'd probably find myself telling her. Yes, the current problems are about a relationship you're not involved with (as painful as that must be to admit), but you do have a relationship with her, too. A weird one, true, but a relationship, non-the-less. And I'd hope there's some trust there... right? Of course, as I said, Sal is most right when she says that heaping more shit onto Girl A's plate will most likely just ruin everything. So... DO NOT FOLLOW MY ADVICE! Seriously. My only concern is that you might be turning yourself into a martyr by trying to be a good "friend"... when really you have ulterior motives. If you can genuinely be her friend, then cool, but I worry that you'll slowly convince yourself that any deeper friendship that might develop is signs of her falling for you. That doesn't seem to me to be a good place to be.

Reminds me of HOUSE. When it was first broadcast over here (in the UK), there was tons of things online like, "Yeah, it's a great show, but it's so embarrassing to watch Hugh Laurie's awful American accent. It practically ruins the show!" To which the response was: "Um, I'm actually from New England, and that's exactly how we speak. In fact, I didn't know he was British until I read this thread." "I can vouch for the above poster. Dr. House sounds like everyone I know. It's perfect." etc. I was amazed, because I thought it sounded terrible, too.

It's probably worth mentioning that Nachimir is in the minority here. Just about every review (on here, and professional critics) seems to agree: This is an improvement over the original.

That list STANK, but it wasn't done by the HCG101 dude, was it? I only read reviews of games I've played, but they were as critical or praising in exactly the right amount. I hate it when fan sites praise shite games, especially the Adventure Game community.

Haha, no worries. I haven't re-read them, so that's just my opinion on first reading. But I won't budge on the beginning of Book 5 -- or, come to think of it, the handling of the big event at the end of Book 6. Still, perhaps I was too harsh on the first two books.

Yep, they did. But I'm not about to learn how to code in order to play a game with slightly nicer graphics. That said, it would be awesome if someone could hack it so that the gradients went from top-to-bottom, and not corner-to-corner.

Hey, it was the MacGuffin in Sneakers, and I love that movie! But yeah, very true. (I hope people aren't tempted to reveal spoilers if they haven't seen it, yet. I do that here sometimes, and usually they're minor -- This is one case where they'll genuinely spoil enjoyment!)

Yeah, it's worth noting that they redid the voice acting in the first game, and used the actress from the other games. The first person they used had a really whiny delivery in hindsight, so if that irked you (like I know it irked Ben), getting the new Steam version is probably preferable. Also, there's new commentary in the Steam version where you can hear Ron Gilbert point out all the mistakes he made with the game. It's quite interesting.

Same here. I'm sure it had its problems. I'm sure if I'd paused it and walked away I would have seen major issues with it, but while it was on, it totally worked for me. I liked how it called back to the first episode, too. It was all very clever.

Brett's pretty awesome, he deserves props. It's been a while since I saw his Holmes, though. It'd be interesting to compare now. Also, I'm surprised no-one is talking about it, but I thought this week's episode ROCKED. A brilliant adaptation of the original story that easily surpasses it. Very rewarding.
