So even though Oddysee is the first game (I'm presuming) I should just skip it entirely?
-
I picked up Abe's Oddysee and Exoddus in the Steam sale, but I have yet to play them... I know they have a strong fanbase. Where should I begin?

That IS weird. "Haha! I h4x0red your account! Now I can pay to play... No, wait a minute. Undo!"

Oops. Did you get anyone to help? -
And you've been paying for a subscription since 2006?

It's a shame you couldn't let the guy level you up and then snatch your account back

You should completely let him know that he's the reason you're quitting, and how you loved the job before. It saddens me so much that managers don't understand how to manage people -- taking a highly motivated member of the team, and making them want to quit. Way to go, douchebag!

Man, I enjoy tits as much as the next straight guy who enjoys tits, but the last game was just absurdly embarrassing. (I remember being shown it in front of my ex's mother -- I don't know who was more offended, me or her, but it wasn't good.) The SC series is so much better than this, so why create awesome games and sell them as if digital cleavage is the only reason to play them? It's getting to the point where you want to hide the game and play it in private... Not so you can (ahem) "appreciate" certain aspects alone, but because it's so embarrassing if someone catches you playing it.

I think it's officially underwraps, but it wouldn't surprise me. I did get a little excited, though.

Oh, man! I just don't understand why they'd introduce a plot that could have been lifted from an episode of Dallas... Why set a show in that particular time, with all those period details, to do something that could be done in any soap opera. *sigh* Oh, well. Downton Abbey, I barely knew thee.

The film script that's going around is apparently very good... or so rumours suggest. I do think it's a bit crappy to do it after the death of John Hughes, but if it genuinely was a brilliant script, then that shouldn't stop them. Anyways, it was a nicely done 10 second video. I hope to god this Super Bowl short doesn't ruin Ferris for me, though.

It's too much for me. It's turned into a completely different type of show. Its exploration of the real issues found in that environment are what made it interesting. The footman with a limp, and the bitterness it would spark. The battles for respect from "them upstairs" and how poorly those in service could be treated on a day to day basis. The influence and responsibilities that such households would have in the communities where they resided. The dying of the old type of aristocracy and the birth of a new one. That was all interesting enough without having to resort to stuff like that. I still can't believe it. It's like the show is suddenly taking place on another planet.

I also happened across this unbelievable example of vacuous reporting: tvimxovKR9M Quote: "Yes, it seems to be true, a sequel may be getting close to..." To what, being made? No, to: "coming off the ground". Whatever that means. Then there's this: "Rick Rapier is the screenwriter behind the script, and we think, if all goes well, this could put on him the map." Really! What keen insight! You mean, if an unknown screenwriter writes a hit movie, he may become a success in Hollywood? You know, you just might be right!

Americans have probably already seen this, but it's pretty cool, especially if you don't see it coming: SuHmEo0Bx7Q

You can buy an official print from the artist here: http://brandonbird.com/jp_prints.html Failing that, there's a jolly large version here: http://i.huffpost.com/gadgets/slideshows/199933/slide_199933_520619_huge.jpg?1327859816608

If there's a London Thumbs Meet™ I'll try to be there.

I'm just watching Downton Abbey for the first time, and so far I've been loving it, but I'm on episode three and... Did Julian Fellowes suffer a stroke part way through writing?? Seriously... what the hell? I'd heard season two became unintentionally comical, but I'm on series one, episode three, and I'm incredulous at its absurdity. I cannot believe this is the route they've decided to take the series down...

That's exactly the same experience I had. Keep going it's great! (Until the episodes with Rita, anyway.) In other news: Ben and I saw a movie we both agreed on! In short: The Descendents =

I don't think it's really fair to cut them any slack for releasing bug-ridden games, no matter what the scope. In my limited experience working as a bug-tester for Sony in 2000, I don't recall any bugs being found that we didn't spot* -- known bugs were "signed off" all the time. The money men just did a quick calculation: Will this affect sales? Yes/No. For example: I seriously the doubt the testers who work at Bethesda never saw a naked courier in the thousands of hours in testing they've done. * - Actually I did hear about one major bug slipping through from the other part of Sony that worked with their development team (we tested finished products from other publishers -- everything needed to be tested before Sony would allow its release on their console). The inhouse team, having to play the same game all day, every day, would get bored and listen to music as they played... and they missed a serious sound error because of it. Oops!
