Did they ever get around to adding controller support?

Co-writer, with three other people with much stronger comedy credits than him. Plus a director with very strong comedy credits, too. The film fails because of its writing, not because of SBC's acting (although that didn't help).

Borat was clever and funny. I found Bruno to be lacking, and The Dictator the worst of all. It's odd to judge movies by their star, though.
-
Uhuh.
-
Fuck me! The Dictator sucked! Moonrise Kingdom wasn't bad, though.

I know what you mean, that's why I bit the bullet and picked one up on eBay. I got a pretty decent price, too. Very happy with it and, of course, since I'm an XBox player, it works on PC, too: MAME goodness

The Gears of War trailer was, of course, brilliant -- I literally bought the game from that trailer alone, and the director of that trailer has moved into features, etc, etc. But I watched it a few more times and noticed that used the lyrics literally, as you say, and I couldn't believe how horrible and cheap it felt. I still like to think it was an accident... although I know it probably wasn't.

I think that's a little unfair. The period music of the time would have the same emotional resonance for those who lived in those times, that contemporary music does for us. I always thought that A Knight's Tale used modern music in this capacity brilliantly. Nobody in the audience is going to feel the same level of excitement at hearing a piece of lute music that someone in those times would have.

I can count on my fingers the number of games that don't fall into that category.
-
I should read that.

The writers have a good sense of humour. I'm sure the dinosaurs bit was a joke. (Like the Zombie Season they promised.)

I got myself a Madcatz TE Round 1 -- man it's GREAT. It was pretty pricey, of course, but it's amazing the difference it makes.

Holy crap! It looks habsolutely hamazing! Seriously looking forward to this one. -
I think he's great! (seewhatididthere?)

Purgatory was everyone's first impression -- and it was also the first thing the writers said that the show wasn't.
-
It's all a bit weird. It's too wide. I'm not sure I like it!

Yep. Teal and magenta! (Looks awesome, btw.)

Boogie Nights was amazing -- just pitch perfect. I found Magnolia to be a beautiful mess. Never really got onboard with Punch-Drunk Love. There Will Be Blood was astounding. I haven't seen Hard Eight. Speaking of which. If you liked There Will Be Blood, I'd highly recommend The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Another outrageously fantastic film from the same year.

Those both look great!

It's a hard film to appreciate on first watch, because of all the weight behind it. I personally really enjoyed it the first time, but the people I watched it with were literally expecting the best film evarrr!!!111. It's actually "just" really, really good, especially for its time.

Get out.

*********! (Just checking.)

I think this is why it only really bugged me on second viewing: I paid more attention to the characters because I knew how the film was going to end. Ultimately the "escalation" wasn't enough to keep me entertained the second time around. As I say, when you're paying attention to the characters (and really, that's the most important aspect to any story), it kind of falls flat in the final scene. I did find an interesting interpretation, though: "The entire film is a metaphor. Horror movies follow the same formula most of the time wherein the 5 stereotypical archetypes are killed off for one reason or another. The Ancient Ones represent we, the audience, who demand horror films to be this way. If that formula isn't carried out correctly, we get angry and eventually the horror genre will die out if things aren't changed." It's bad story-telling to throw your characters under a bus so the writer can make his point, though, and I'm sure Goddard and Whedon are aware of that.
