Why would anyone think you were being greedy?
  2. BioShock Infinite

Same here. The artwork looks great. One of the best things about the Bioshock games is that they take place in a world that's unusual for games. It's not some uber realistic war simulation set in a war torn city or jungle, it's a turn of the century, Art Deco, steam-punk amalgamation. I don't just see a "dude with a gun", I see an older man with a weird-ass steam-punk gun, wearing clothes from the industrial revolution era, with a burning American flag behind him, and that's far more interesting to me than some young guy in army fatigues. It's weird that there's so much love for Far Cry here if a "dude with a gun" is such a turn off :-/

Dude, some lurker has probably already grabbed it. You should take it while there's a slight chance.
  4. Mass Effect 3

This is where we divide. There was nothing to do in those massive levels. It was just a huge pain in the arse getting from one place to the next for the sake of a conversation. The elevators were plain evil, and part of the "bigger is better" sickness that plagued the first game -- if the levels weren't so unnecessarily huge, you wouldn't need to take the world's slowest elevator to get to different parts of them. Think about your ship, the Normandy; Just getting to a slightly different deck so you could talk to your crew members took forever. What was gained by that choice? Consider how they did it in Knights of the Old Republic -- being able to quickly skip around your ship to see if anyone had anything new to say was much better. The adding of floors and elevators to an area like that was completely unnecessary. Same goes for the Citadel -- huge empty spaces of nothing that were never actually used for anything. In ME2 they cut the area down massively, and it worked much better. I contend that the mechanics of the first game were a mess. So was the characterization, for that matter. Hint: If all your character has to say is tell you is an insanely detailed history of their culture, your characters are too boring. Especially since, after forcing myself to pay attention to it, they go and change it in the sequels anyway. Utterly, utterly pointless.

    I'll take your place!
  6. Let's not let ourselves get too carried away with enthusiasm, guys.
  7. Mass Effect 3

I'd agree. There's many many things wrong with ME1, but there was an interesting atmosphere and plot. ME2, while definitely improving things as a game (less annoying, more enjoyable), sadly the story was insanely dull. ME3 thoughts pending.

Doesn't that link contain a code?
  9. Mass Effect 3

Wow. Why would you do this to yourself? You know how much you hate those games...

    Looks good! If insanely difficult.
  13. Far Cry 3

Kinda lame that the guards immediately assumed a tiger mauling was done by you, but still sounds pretty fun.
  14. Feminism

  15. Steam Greenlight

This is being ironic, right? Right??? Why won't it start being ironic???
  16. Far Cry 3

Yikes! That's a bit stupidly priced.
  17. General Video Game Deals Thread

Bah. I really want Walking Dead to be 75% off sometime soon.
  18. Plug your shit

(I guess this is why it's good to let the audience decide what something means )
  19. Far Cry 3

Ah! Yes, that does make a lot of sense. Thanks for explaining it to me. Is this the general consensus as to why people don't like the story? I really am intrigued. Thanks! EDIT: You know, you make a really good point. In books and movies it works great if the story moves along at a thundering pace, making the viewer want to keep up. But with games, it actually gets annoying. I remember experiencing this feeling with Fallout, Oblivion and GTAIV. I just wanted to leave the main quest and go exploring, but doing so required me to disconnect a little from the game world: Yes, X needs to be completed immediately... but I want to wander around first, so I have to pretend that X isn't happening. Interesting.
  20. It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like CHRISTMAS

Oh man! I want that so badly!
  21. Far Cry 3

I'm intrigued by this hatred for the story. They've clearly gone with the "average dude thrown into a crazy situation who emerges as a hero" trope (see: Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Die Hard, Total Recall, Alien, etc. etc. etc.). That's usually a pretty great story, if you ask me, so I'm confused as to why you think it's the worst story you can think of?
  22. Oblivion

Ha ha. Jerk! (I actually just remembered it from the first time you posted it.)
  23. Plug your shit

His head is always shown as being big... I thought your inclusion of him was a brilliant ironic statement on his childish mentality!
