Shouldn't a "Full HD" TV simply upscale a 1080i input to 1080p automatically? There's no extra information, afterall, it's just the difference between interlaced and progressive, right? This is good to hear! The strange thing is, though, is that I'm sure Mass Effect ran smoother when I turned the grain off. Hmm, no matter, it's great to hear that you're not experiencing any slow down! What were you outputting? 720 or 1080? I read on Wikipedia that only certain models have HDMI ability... But I don't understand if it means that they come with an extra output or just that you can buy a special XBox 360 HDMI cable and it will work. Using VGA there's no sound output, so I really need to hook up my surround sound via an optical lead. Do HDMI and Component transfer sound? The TV I'm using is a 42" LCD LG 42PC55 apparently.

Is there a way to do it on the GB color, do you know? I had the old Mario game and although I completed all the levels and got all the awards, it never actually unlocked everything it was supposed to. Apparently it was a known bug and the only solution was to start over... except I never knew how. I even considered the magnet idea at one point... but I had no idea what would happen. I probably won't bother to try now admittedly, but I did wonder about it. It'd be nice to know if there is a way.

C'mon... hug?

I think they kind of painted themselves into a corner.

C'mon, Wrestle: IT WAS A JOKE! As was painfully fucking apparent. You're not the thought police, but you are grumpy, reactionary git sometimes You're also bloody preachy when you're pissed off!Can we be friends now?

Edit: Urg. Misread again. You were absolutely correct, eljay, my bad. I realised what WV meant, but I thought you'd missed it too. Not true. snip: [Nope, you've missed it. He actually meant (and...] :snip I realise this too, myself now - so I was wrong in what I said, although it certainly wasn't deliberate or an evil attempt to distort anything. His implication being that I'd obviously taken some personal slant when I responded that there was some surface irony. To quote Wrestlevania: "And the reason I didn't reply about fucking Table Tennis was because, through some utterly bizarre logic, you took my response as some personal slight. n those instances, circumstances like that are just best walked away from. Wish I'd been able to spot it here as well.." In both instances he was wrong. Why on earth should I take either comment as a personal slant, I don't understand. (Of course, I didn't, the idea is ridiculous.) Why WV didn't just PM me and explain that it wasn't a personal slant (if that's what he really believed), I don't know either. If either Wrestlevania or Nachmir seriously wanted to change my views or attitude, why did they decide to go about it using hostile comments in a public forum? Isn't that likely to stir up the exact opposite of the desired reaction? Try stopping someoen the street and saying: "On a more serious note; pull your head out your arse. You've contributed to good discussion on here before, so stop fucking about with the lame witticisms of late and get back to it." and seeing what kind of reaction you'd get. Try saying it to a friend, colleague or family member. What reaction are you likely to get? It's very unlikely to be, "gee, you're so right. I feel so foolish now, thanks for pointing that out." Why not PM me and say, "chill out dude, there's no need to be taking things so seriously" or "I think you need to calm down a bit, he didn't mean it the way you took it"? So either Wrestlevania and Nachmir completely mis-judged their "serious" (their word) attempts to change my attitude, or they just felt like venting at me (or maybe Wrestlevania felt picked on, I don't know). Either way, it's the WRONG WAY to go about stuff, and quite frankly I see no reason to taper my response to either of them. This, after all, was my offending comment (brace yourself, it's a bit strong, I don't know what I was thinking when I posted it):
-
Edit: I misinterpreted your comment Wrestle. Of course I didn't "quote out of context to suit my own needs". Don't be a twat. It was a simple misunderstanding of what you wrote. In reference to your comments about Zero Tolerance: I certainly didn't take your comments as a personal slant and even added a smiley to show I was joking. That's when you lost your head and became a prick, taking my overtly jokey comment as a personal slant. Which is what you apparently want to accuse me of. Projecting a little, WV?
-
Unless I've personally grieved you, I suggest you keep your generalised personal attacks to yourself. What did you expect to happen when you attack someone's personality? "Oh, thanks for that. I really appreciate your insight"? Idiot. Please give me an example or a recent "storm of conflict" that involved me, or be quiet. Let me get this straight... You wished you'd known in advance that telling someone to "get their head out of their arse" and "stop making lame witticisms" would be taken as a personal slant? Jesus Christ. Get some help, man.

I didn't realise that not being interested in the truth was a positive thing. I didn't realise it was something that was useful in arguments, commentary or discussions. Do you find that it gets in the way of exchanging ideas and opinions? "I'm sorry, I find truth tends to cloud the issues." Huh? Normal discussion involves the exchanging of ideas... isn't that what Wrestlevania is asking people to do? If people respond to my opinions with counter-arguments, why should I not respond with my own opinions, countering theirs? Why is this threatening to you? It's an internet forum. It's not personal. I'm not trying to win. I've actually avoided conflict many times (including in this very thread). But I will state my opinion if I feel the need, and there's nothing wrong with that. Sorry if "arguments" scare you. There's no malice or feelings of superiority behind them. At least not for me, despite what you may think. I don't sit around thinking I'm better than anyone on this forum... Why would I bother posting here most days, and reading people's post, if I didn't value reading what people had to say? If I see something I think is wrong, I will say why. It's not a personal attack. Again, please show these recent examples of me being such an incredibly horrible person. Which is why you've decided to delve in full throttle, is it? Very tactfully handled. It's not likely to get my back up, or make me feel defensive, is it? Why not just PM me? If I'm being attacked for no bloody reason, I am! Tsk! Can I just tell YOU (since you have no problems with criticising my posts) that I generally ignore your posts because I find them unnecessarily glib and inflammatory. I'm not just saying that because I feel defensive (which I do), it's something I genuinely felt it before you posted in this thread. It's not nice when someone clumbsily deals with their issues about you, is it?

Jackson to direct Hobbit movie. Also sequal. Wait, what?
ThunderPeel2001 replied to DanJW's topic in Movies & Television
You know, the more I think about this, and some of the comments made in this thread, the more I don't think I want The Hobbit to be made. At first I thought it would be a brilliant idea, but now I'm not so sure. In my mind it was going to be directed by Jackson and star Holm and McKellen. But now it's something else, and nearly ten years later. LotR was of a time... it feels like that time has passed. Look what happened to Star Wars.... Maybe it's just better they leave it (I can't believe I'm saying that), let people enjoy The Hobbit as a book and not risk sullying their great work on LotR for the sake of extra cash... -

It actually looks a lot better on you than it does on the Double Fine website. Maybe I need it... Hmmm. -
Huh? I think you need to both take your heads out of your asses. What's the problem with expressing opinions?! I almost got flamed for saying something very true: Zero Tolerance's reviews are weak. Pathetically weak. Strip away the comedy and you've got nothing worth basing an opinion on. I was concerned that people might go take his jokes as being reason enough to buy or not buy a game. Then I was told that of course they're weak, nobody is using them for buying guides, don't be stupid... And then one of the same people, a few messages on, is talking about not buying a game... based on a ZT review. Taking yourself a bit too seriously eh, Wrestle? Don't take it out on me. (I notice you don't say anything to Rodi, who said the exact same thing before me.) Nachmir: I'm always obsessed with being right, but that also means accepting when I'm wrong. What do you mean "recently"? Actually, saying that, I've not posted anything substantial here since December... What are you talking about? And what exactly does that have to do with this thread? Did you just feel like joining in on some TP bashing? EDIT: Oh wait! This is about that Rockstar Table Tennis post from two weeks ago, isn't it? Why not just confront me instead of randomly complaining at me? I'm not attacking you WV, I respect you a great deal. All I can say that I was completely, totally, utterly and comprehensively baffled by your comment... did I not have the right to question it? I happened to have been on the look out for Rockstar Tennis for some time and so was well aware of its price, and was very pleased at getting it for £8. For someone to just randomly complain about that price, and not even say why, just made absolutely zero sense to me: So I posted all I knew about its price and asked you to explain. Don't take it personally, it wasn't a personal attack, just genuine bafflement... which I still don't understand, incidentally. There was no malice, I'm not singling you out or anything.

I haven't seen it, so I'll take your word for it... but you can't ignore the surface irony

So are people using Zero Tolerance as a buying guide now... Hmmmm?

Ah, well. When I get Rock Band I can compare. Actually, that's one thing that's missing from GH: Easy comparison of friend's scores. When not have an "info" tab on the song names so you can see extra information like friend's scores? GH3 doesn't even bother ranking your friends scores in order!

Damned evil New Line!!! If they hadn't stiffed Jackson and Co on the money then it would have been made by now. Greedy unethical sods! -
