You mean this? Indy 4 was middling, but I'd never say it was a bag of arse, despite its faults. I still enjoyed it.

He has? But it's nearly been made a few times, hasn't it? What about that Chuck Russell script? Also, wasn't Chris Cunningham going to do it at one point? I guess I'm out the loop. Some good news, though: That Neuromancer movie was originally announced a year ago. I'm guessing that it's not going to happen any time soon, as I read it was supposed to be a rush project back then. -

Errr... I think the fact that it's from the director of Torque is a bigger problem, myself. That and the fact that the book has had things ripped out of it so many times that most people will find it "unoriginal". Considering that Neo essentially = Case and Reeves managed to pull it off, I reckon Christiansen might be ok. After all, Lucas isn't involved. -
Looks sucky. Also, I know it's not the biggest thing in the universe, but what does this title even have to do with Persia any more? The lead character in all the concept art is very white with blue eyes. It's a small thing, but *sigh*, this really has NOTHING to do with Prince of Persia any more.

It turns out that these sets are "new" EL sets, and I have to say that since I've calibrated them I've had no problems with them what so ever! (Except for the noise.) I've ordered the Gum Rubber Composites that you mentioned in your podcast. (I did a lot of research and ended up deciding to take a chance on them.) I hope they work with these "new" EL sets. I've emailed DrumSoft to ask for advice... no response yet. An excellent resource for information and reviews on all the drum mods: http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49676

It says the model part is: DPSN-186CB-1A There's quite a few other numbers on there. I'll grab them too when I get the chance.

Hmmm, that's really cool. Thanks guys. I can definitely enjoy the sandbox thing, but I got a bit hung up on the achievement. Is there any extra bonus or award for not dying or not failing a mission? I guess I should just get stuck in!
-
Thanks! It's stupid that an achievement should make me change the way I play the game, but I think I'll do it non-the-less. Is that the general consensus, I guess? That the playability is kind of reduced to hitting a brick over and over in a slow and tortuous manner?

I'd say that you most likely need the French power supply. It should take your French mains current and turn it into something the XBox wants (which I'm pretty sure is the same for all 360s). You could also try a higher amped adapter? *shrugs* When I get home I can look at the part number for my UK PAL 360's PSU and you can see if it's the same as the US one. If it is, then I guess all you need is the plug changing through an adapter.

How can I send them back? Do I return them to Amazon or what? Such a pain in the ass... the entire box with everything in was huge! Argh. Looks like I need to do some research, and quick. I still can't believe they're selling us EL kits!!! Wtf?!

Is it possible to finish the main story first and then go back and do everything else? I'm thinking about the "30 hours" achievement. I could keep doing all the side missions (which I'm enjoying), but I may as well plough through the main storyline if I can just do them later anyway. Anyone else getting a little frustrated with GTA? I've not read any reviews on the game, and tried to steer clear of as much opinion as I possibly can (apologies if what I'm about to say has already been said here). Basically the game boils down to these things: Cut-scene, travel, mission. The problem I'm having is having to repeat certain missions over and over. It's so annoyingly dull having to start back at your apartment, find a cab that's empty, flag it down, skip to the end, jump out the cab, find car, fail mission, repeat.

The Jack Thompson circus of delight continues...

Yep, I guess it's a good thing he's not given too much attention. I just can't wait for his disbarment. The problem with only reporting his "fall" is that it might generate sympathy for him - the lone voice of reason silenced by left wing bureaucrats. It'd be better if the (wider) public got an impression of the unstable man that he is first, and then saw him fall. He'd lose all credibility after that. His Wikipedia page reads to me like he's being persecuted (rather than prosecuted) by the Florida Bar, for example. Of course it's the bloody media's fault for allowing one nutcase to gain that much attention (it reminds me of the woman that wanted to ban Blankets). -
Oh my God. It has Heart-Shaped Box on it! HEART-SHAPED BOX!!! This must have been what Courtney Love meant when she licensed the Nirvana back-catalogue: "We are going to remain very tasteful and true to the spirit of Nirvana while taking the music to places it has never been before." Gawd bless her soulless, money grabbing ways!

Jeez, do I live in a little gaming bubble or what? I meant to say "mainstream gaming press". AFAIK GamePolitics.com is the only site covering his possible disbarment. (Although I guess if it does happen then the other gaming sites will pick up on it.) -

Not sure why his disbarment trial isn't getting more mainstream press coverage...? -
I know I'm being a bit of a dick, but please: He's a journo who's seen promo videos from Neversoft (at least he admitted his sources) and is going around telling people how "duly, it kicks ass". I can't think of another company that needs a PR boost more after the outright lies they told regarding the Rock Band compatibility issue. For a game genre so cliquey, they need genuine low-level support. Call me old and cranky, but even if he's an honest dude, he should show a little more responsibility in his position. Sure it LOOKS like it kicks ass, but don't go around hinting that you're "in the know" when all you've seen is a video, for christsakes. Also, to be fair, he's commented on three other topics - one of which was the "Introduce Yourself" thread. Out of 7 posts, that seems pretty focussed on GH4 to me.

Have you sent it back? Their returns policy is supposed to be excellent. I'm a little disappointed to discover that I have EL drums (the first iteration of the kit, with all the issues). How on earth this can be, with a game that's only JUST been released, I have no beeping idea. I'm a bit miffed This could explain why only half the notes seem to have been picked up. I'll definitely get onto the calibration, though. I saw an indepth guide to calibration on the Rock Band forums, so I'll get around to going through it at some point. It could just be a mixture of no talent and bad calibration. I'm really surprised that the EL kits are still being sold, though. When was it manufactured for Europe?! I went on a spending spree for the songs: The (Arguably) Punk Pack 01 (this definitely IS punk, I don't know why it's "arguably"!). "Complete Control" from The Clash? Yes, please! The Harmonix Pack (love Count Zero - and I fancied trying out the others, too). That Stone Temple Pilots song from Purple. My girlfriend fiance nearly exploded with excitement when she saw "Still Alive" from Portal on there. B-52s "Roam". The Pretenders one (amazing cover - sounds just like Chrissie Hynd!). All of the Weezer tracks (I love Weezer - I hope they add the Blue Album or Pinkerton in their entirety). I think that's it, so far! Miffy: Sounds like you're a good big brother!

So you just decided to join our forum in order to put in a good word about some software that you've never actually used. I'm sure you're right: In a promotional video presented by the people who are selling the software, it probably does look like it kicks ass. Why don't you ask for a few more videos from Neversoft and write a world exclusive review now? Better yet, next time you're talking to their PR guy, do some real journalism and ask why they stopped Rock Band controllers from working with Guitar Hero.

Hurrah!!! I finally got my hands on Rock Band. First impressions... It's fantastic. It's such a massive leap forward from Guitar Hero that it really shows GH3 up for being what it is: A small step side-ways (and maybe a little backwards). In comparison to Rock Band, Guitar Hero 3 is an evolutionary mis-step; an inbred stump on the rhythm-game family-tree. There's so many nice little touches to make the user feel more involved with the music, it's amazing. The fact that on top of that, there's FOUR different "instruments", each with their own perfectly rounded attributes, and their own ways of drawing you into the music, is even more amazing. How on earth did you do all this, Harmonix, in the time it took Neversoft to re-skin (and de-soul) GH2?! I was lucky enough to play it four-player on my first go, and the response from everyone playing it (one guy and two girls, all of whom are not gamers) was pure JOY. Soon the girls were making their own characters and forcing me to set up a band. They LOVED it and I can see why Rock Band added the ability to create your own rocker - it really does make it more personal. The only bad sides I felt were with the instruments themselves, and perhaps the narrowness of the "notes" as they travel towards you (they seem harder to hit than GH's). The new guitar, which I was really looking to getting my hands on, was a bit underwhelming. Sure, it LOOKS fantastic, I mean it looks almost as good as a real instrument, and I like the idea of the solo buttons that don't require strumming, but the strum bar doesn't have the same "click" as the old GH2 guitar and it was a little off putting -- even for the others who had never played GH before. The Rock Band guitar seems a LOT harder to play down-strumming only, as the bar doesn't seem to return to the middle quite as quickly, or properly, as you feel it should. The flip side to this is that I was forced to (finally) strum up AND down (a good thing), and I also have to admit it feels more "analogue" and "natural" than my older guitar's "clicks". Still, it didn't take me long to switch back to my trusty, familiar, Fisher-Price GH2 guitar, though. The drums were SO difficult, even on easy. I've no idea why. None of us have ever played drums before, which admittedly, may have something to do with it. The noise made by hitting them was too loud, almost overshadowing the rest of the music and making it hard to hear the drums you were supposed to be playing. It felt that this also made it harder to find the right rhythm. (Modding: Here I come!) Other than that, Rock Band is SUCH a huge leap forward from Guitar Hero in SO many ways, and with the additional tracks being added every single week, I doubt I'll be going back to GH any time soon. Simply astounding

I have to agree. This IS a big leap forward. I've been avoiding the press/arguments/whatever about this game and just been enjoying it on my own terms. I had no idea people where dissing it. I really believe this is a *massive* leap forward for games, simply because of the time and detail that's gone into creating it: You cannot compare it with anything else. Look at Oblivion. It got rave reviews for its massive world (the main storyline kinda sucked) and look how basic that seems in comparison now -- every NPC has the same three voices -- women often have men's voices and vise versa. The lack of attention to detail may seem like a shallow complaint, but in this day of intense HD graphical mayhem, it's really where the next progression is going to take place. IMHO.

I'll give it a go when I get some time! Great job on making and actually completing a game. That's a pretty major achievement in itself
-
It's annoying, really, but I'm usually so focussed on the little map that I'll slam into a cop car and spend the next ten minutes evading the police. It would be better to get a good idea of the layout, but I don't think that's going to happen unless I take the time out to really learn the map properly. I don't know why the didn't use the waypoint system from the races - that would allow you to learn where you were going without taking your eyes off the road. (Did anyone notice that glaringly missing waypoint during the race, btw? A big "sharp left" wasn't there, which was pretty annoying!) Also

WOW! Neversoft must be great!!! GH4 is going to be amazing!!! You've completely changed my mind!!! (Do you get a bonus now?)

Man, that's so cool, I wish I'd known, too. I only just learned this, but apparently Juliette Lewis is the DJ on Radio Broker...!? Wow! I need to listen more carefully...
