  1. time to make some album covers

A quick two min job... (with some minor changes to the original image).
  2. Crock Band

Well, um. If it looks new, you could always buy a new one and return your old one...
  3. Crock Band

They will do by the end of the week. They've got a waiting list. I'm #48. I just hope I can find the money! That's really good to hear! Hurrah! I'm going to keep it up with the Strat (when I get my XBox back) as it just looks sooooo sweet.
  4. Crock Band

There ARE third party peripherals, and here in the UK you can buy the game separately (not sure about the US/Canada) so you can use what you like. The problem is that the market for these 3rd party things is mighty mighty small as most people will just go with the official one.
  5. Crock Band

For anyone about to buy Rock Band, I recommend factoring in the following: 1. The drums for Rock Band are not great. Not by a long shot. They're loud (to the point where you can't hear what you're "playing"). They're not always great at registering notes. No matter which kit you get (there are a few variants), chances are that you'll be looking at modifications. Annoying, but likely. 2. Rock Band can be used with any USB microphone. 3. The guitar can be bought separately, but most people prefer the GH2 or GH3 models. Now! Buy the game, by all means, but instead of buying the drums, I'd suggest buying these: http://www.goodwoodmods.com/products.html They are the best drums you can buy, and much better than simply modding a Rock Band set. They're quiet and deadly accurate and they've been hand-made specifically for use with Rock Band... But they're also very expensive. If you don't need a second guitar, I'd have to say stick with your GH one. Although the RB guitar looks the shit (and it really does), it doesn't play the same as your GH one without warranty-busting modifications. (There's no "click" when you strum, and the strum bar doesn't feel as "responsive" as the GH guitars. That's not to say that you won't get used to it, though, but most people I've seen seem to concur that they play better with the GH ones.) After playing Rock Band, it's what I'd do if I was about to buy it now. Better to get something that's fun to play out of the box than spend time taping socks to your kit, especially if you're planning to get very involved in the game. Just a few things to consider!
  6. Movie/TV recommendations

Aye, which is why Indy and company never touch the Ark in the movie. Nice touch! Also they designed the Ark to match the description of it from surviving accounts. Pretty damned cool
  7. Movie/TV recommendations

Umm, did you expect it to? The Ark is real, what's inside it is up for you to decide. People believed it contained the power of God, or something like that. It is described as "the strength and glory of God" in the Bible, for instance.Whereas the "Holy Grail" was completely made up by a French dude 1,000 years later. So at least it's a bit more historical. Thud. What an impossibly inane comment. (No, I'm not religious.)
  8. Kryptonite 00233247152399

I didn't really think that Kryptonite would be of interest to anyone but researchers? Weird. It's not exactly diamonds and gold dust, is it? I will be willing to offer my kind assistant to you 00233247152399 Regards, james So, did you call the number? I wonder if it was actually made by someone who didn't like "James". Kind of the Ghanan equivalent of writing "Free sex, call 00233247152399" on a toilet wall. Lol.
  9. So, this "GTA 4" thing then...

    That is brilliant!
  10. Movie/TV recommendations

I'd say that was a bit of a myth myself. Nobody wrestled control from his hands during his first movies. His first feature film, THX 1138, was excellent in its own way and he had complete creative control. The same followed for all his movies, really. If anything, from reading his biography and the mammoth (and utterly superb) "Making of Star Wars", he just doesn't seem to work as hard at getting the *perfect* script before he begins. Star Wars took SEVEN YEARS to perfect in script form, and even the penultimate draft wasn't much better than The Phantom Menace. (He only nailed the whole spirituality of the script in the last pass... before that it was just about crystals and things). I respect him for sticking to his guns but at the same time I wish he'd find that fire again and put out something that *he* wanted to make artistically, rather than trying to make money from his projects (he can afford a financial dud, after all).
  11. Big Fat Recommendation

    Is Rock Baaand out yet?
  12. Zero Punctuation

I'm not sure if that's really saying good about the game It's on my "give it a proper go" list, though. I have to say that the stats put me off a bit, too. (They seem so old fashioned these days, it's amazing they're still around.) Isn't it really easy to accidentally "gimp" your character by picking the wrong skills at the beginning?
  13. Guitar Hero III (and demo!)

    Good lord. Wow.
  14. Zero Punctuation

It's still one of my "to be played properly" games. It's just too dense to penetrate without spending hours and hours (and hours) in it, I imagine. The plot is immensely dull, too. I certainly don't want to have to go back through one of those boring portals again... Yikes. But there's plenty of other things to do... if you can be bothered
  15. Crock Band

Some of the early Elites had the same problem, or so I heard. Sucks, doesn't it? At least the refurbs should be RRoD proof... I hope. It'll be interesting to see how our countries handle the situation. I just got emailed a label today and so I had to go out and buy and box and protection to put my XBox in, so I can mail it.
  16. Movie/TV recommendations

Well it's just as fake as everything else then
  17. Where is everybody?

I'm sure Wrestle will take it as a good sport. Right, Wrestle? It's just a bit of banter. I don't want to get into another argument and I'm sure our resident grouch-master doesn't, either.
  18. So, this "GTA 4" thing then...

Agreed, that bit got me too. Very nicely done.
  19. So, this "GTA 4" thing then...

Yeah, when I got to the races (with their big arrows in the middle of the road), I kind of wondered why they didn't use the same system for waypoints. I would have preferred being able to enjoy the scenery!
  20. Guitar Hero 4 "Not Just About Guitars"

That is absolutely, unbelievably hilarious! It looks like a 70s educational video, with all of the misjudged "coolness" that goes along with something like that. That terrible "cool" haircut, the camp miming "rocker" and the amazingly cheesy voice-over man... wow. I can just imagine the same "don't worry, we can be cool, too" setup telling people the dangers of rock n roll... "Listening to Rock music CAN be a safe, enjoyable pastime, provided you take the necessary precautions. If you feel the presence of Satan at any time, turn off the music immediately and go to your nearest church." "Louder doesn't always mean better. Many rock heroes prefer to listen to music at a moderate level, and they're just as cool as anyone. Just ask punk rocker Sandi Thom." "Remember kids, it's not cool to chase the dragon. So if you're offered some dangerous narcotics in the middle of a party, it's ok to call the police, even if the person offering them to you is your best friend. Don't worry, they'll thank you later."
  21. Where is everybody?

Happy Birthday Thrik and BooJaka! Why don't you stop the lame Yahtzee impression? Dropping lame put-downs and moans in every post is getting predictable.
  22. Movie/TV recommendations

Well, the Ark is real, and that's a very cool idea (and it was by far the best movie, too), but the Sankara Stones possessing children?! A man reaching into people's chests and pulling out their still beating hearts? I think you need to watch Doom again, pronto (it's terrible!). The Holy Grail was made up in the French poem "Perceval, le Conte du Graal" in the 1100's and even then it only became "holy" in later versions made by different authors. By comparison, the Mayan crystal skulls actually actually ARE real and remain a mystery for modern science. There are 13 "master skulls" and we still don't know how they were made and by whom. There is ancient superstition surrounding them saying that you should never look into their eyes, too. So aside from the beginning, it does stay true to the "ancient mysteries" bit... even if it comes to an 'unconventional' conclusion. I do understand that it's probably hard for people to swallow the Does that lessen your disappointment any? 23. Crock Band

I hope so! If I can't, I'll be very annoyed!
  24. Crock Band

Much appreciated. *sob* I was just planning a Rock Band party for Friday when it happened... how ironic! Still, I'll have a free fully functioning refurbed one in a week or three. (At least the returns policy is decent.)
  25. Crock Band

    *sigh*
