That most well constructed, well thought-out post I've ever seen on Thumbs! Of course problems occurred in the arrangement of the composition. It says it all. It says it all!!!

From what I've seen of MGS, it's all campy fun. It's like 80's action movies ramped up, but with some actually cool stuff, too (great gameplay, excellent set pieces, great visual direction). And it's the cool stuff that it's respected for. Snake's voice is so campy it just puts a smile on my face. I love it.

Damn, that's one addictive game...

It's not about planets, but Velociraptor Safari is certainly physics-based, and we had a highscore table going, too. Probably not the right one, but it's all I can think of...

Yeah, I agree. I think there were going for "epic", but all they ended up with was "sparse" (and unnecessarily so). I kind of expected the PC version to populate everything a bit more, but it sounds like they haven't done that.Did you get to the mission on the Citadel where you meet the respected Geisha style woman (straight out of Firefly, anyone?) but when you finally meet this exotic, beautiful, intelligent, powerful woman... she's in an empty room and looks and dresses exactly like the character on the door....... Kind of took me out of the moment in the 360 version. Did they fix it for the PC one?

I was going to post that I thought I was over it, then I went to the Wiki about the whole Limbo of the Lost affair (http://lotl.wikia.com), and my disbelief has been ignited again... The background section has grown - a lot! I wonder if there were any original backgrounds in there at all!

Well, you know, there's a school of thought that says plagiarism is something lawyers made up to make money from artists. If any of the people who ACTUALLY MADE the graphics they stole are upset, then fair enough, but I reckon they couldn't give two hoots.

Holy shit! They TOTALLY ripped those graphics. Wow. That's some balls. But I have to say, considering this was done by three guys, it could look a lot worse! (Did they pre-render all of the bits with the characters talking?! Plus I think those things help remind you of your own mortality. Would we still moan about silly things if there was a possibility of being mauled by a bear on our way to work? I think not. More bears, I say!

I have to say that, well, ummm.... I didn't like it. I really don't see what's so amazing about it. I feel like it's the Emperor's New Clothes... at least the Character Generator thing. You get a preset blob, which comes with a preset number of things you can attach to it. Legs (always on the ground), arms (always used to grabbing things), eyes, mouth and spikes. What's so amazing about that? It feels like a 3D version of Mr Potato Head. I'm sure I must be missing something... but there really isn't that much variance between all the user created characters. They're certainly nowhere near nature... Consider the differences between a snake, a kangaroo and a tortoise... All of Spore's creatures have pretty much the same attributes and look. Ok, I know I must be very wrong about this and probably deserve a good pounding. It may just be the pre-hype killing my experience (as it can often do). Thoughts?

You mean it wasn't done in a "post modernist" kind of way? They just totally ripped off the graphics...?! I wonder if the finished game was any good. Is there a final copy out there somewhere?

Yikes, it really is "Guitar Hero: Rock Band", isn't it? I really hope it fails miserably just so that Rock Band gets all the best DLC. Of course EA were complete idiots in delaying the world release of Rock Band, so that might work against it in other territories where it's not so established.
