Well, I already spoke to him and he gave a full refund immediately without any prompting. The game itself crashes from time to time, most likely because it's a bootleg. I'm pretty sure this guy is just some dude in China (yeah, she ordered it from Hong Kong - doh!) who's making ends meet by selling stuff on eBay. Hmmmm.

Sad thing is that it's kind of dated now... The Matrix kind of stole its thunder, I'd say. But I'd still love to see a movie that captures the experience of reading it.

Just told the seller it was a bootleg. They wrote back and said "My mistake. Here's a refund."

Grand Thumb Auto 2: Return of The Thumb
ThunderPeel2001 replied to toblix's topic in Multiplayer Networking
Thank God, a sensible solution! Just to clarify: Like Wrestle said, I think we're talking 9+PM GMT. Does that work for you guys in the rest of the world? 9PM GMT = 4PM EST = 1PM PST -

That's fair enough... So how about Wednesday? -
Notice the word "tend", Mr. Argumentative.

I saw that mentioned in the newspaper and immediately made The Wire connection, too. I haven't actually watched it yet, but I guess I'll have to remember that The Wire is fictional world...

Yeah, what's wrong with Wed and Thurs? -
Well she got a full refund, which was cool, after one message. So um, yeah.

WED! EDIT: Ooh, nifty toy! -
It's a very good point, though. We tend to "futurize" things in very unrealistic ways in order to make it look "futuristic". In reality, no-one wants to walk down sheer bland white corridors all day long, and if anything, they'd try to disguise its technological origin into something more human friendly.

Wow, I've never really thought about that. Can you imagine: Professional bootlegs sold with their own copy protection?? I bet it's around the corner. I've sent a message to the seller, let's see what he says. Luckily my gf hasn't left any feedback yet, so I'll make sure something negative gets left. Finally! Non-UK people can appreciate what we have to put up with: Look at his burning evil eyes!!! "They're out to get YOU" (Yes, this is real.) http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=HToRWLu0BqU Also real: and we're forced to watch it all the bloody time on DVDs we've BOUGHT! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=jxtoaTF9hu8 Thankfully, though, someone did an excellent parody of the above: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=8wRxfz_6E7o Came across these US ones, too: http://he.fi/video/view/RIAA_PSA Jack Black: "They steal our internets!": http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=-LkWKvMCzqA

Wow cool! EDIT: Their website makes no mention of GTA, but it did do the MGS3 intro. EDIT EDIT: Note to self -- MUST READ POST BEFORE REPLYING

I'm sure I already answered this(?). FO3 is DRM free on Steam. As for the "incompatible software found", even on the retail version this is easy to avoid: Just click on setup.exe and it skips the check. Once it's installed it keeps an eye out for any virtual DVD drives when you load the game and won't boot if it finds any... Unless you cloak them, or use the alternate official Launcher, it which case it works perfectly (or of course, simply run the game from the original DVD). Just to admit something a little shady: I borrowed a friend's copy and when he decided he wanted it back I ordered my own... but I wanted to play it that evening. As I technically own a copy (it's sitting in a post office somewhere) I didn't feel too bad trying to get it working. I'd like to just point out that it was unbelievably easy to get working without the DVD in the drive. I was shocked. You have to wonder why they even bother with SecuROM at all. EDIT: I suppose it makes it harder for people to download a version(?). I seriously doubt you will have any problems to be honest

I interviewed dudes who made The Last Express
ThunderPeel2001 replied to Chris's topic in Video Gaming
Man, it really makes me want to go back and play Last Express again. Nice job! Maybe Mechner would be interested in doing an interview, too? -
To be fair, you're guilty of the most most blunt and obnoxious posts here recently. There was a time when the Thumbs Forum featured more of that stuff, but recently things have really calmed down into a nice little clique community. There's a lot less stranger-bashing than there used to be.

I interviewed dudes who made The Last Express

Awesome, I'm definitely going to read that! I remember reading something about how they found the last remaining original Orient Express cart and photographed the fuck out of it so that the ingame one was entirely accurate. Apparently before they found it no-one knew it existed. I'd love to see it translated into a fully 3D enviroment, I bet it would totally rock. -
Yep, I guess I'm going to avoid stealthy tactics. It's a shame there's still some Oblivion in there after such a slick opening. Still loving the game world, though

Charging people money to help themselves? It sounds a bit like... SCIENTOLOGY -
Wow, that whole megabit/megabyte thing was such a con! I can't believe the difference.
-
Yep, but you can turn it off in the options.

I DO understand the red/green thing and had been strictly adhering to it through my game... but it was just an accident! Also, if want to put some spin onto it... all I did was open an unlocked door. In Real Life I would have been able to explain my actions, at least. I was unarmed and not even fighting back, but still they kept pummelling me... the basts. Anyway, I've spoken to two other people who had the same problem and ended up re-loading an old savegame, so at least it's not just me I seem to remember Oblivion giving you a warning the first time you were about to do something illegal...? Actually, being in stealth wouldn't help as there's a giant killer robot lurking inside, waiting for anyone to break in open the door.
