  1. Microsoft Songsmith

I'm guessing this isn't aimed at our demographic...
  2. The Wire

I've been subconsciously preparing myself for this horrible inevitability, so... Things to keep you going once The Wire has ended... Generation Kill: New HBO series about the beginning of the Iraq War by David Simon Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets: Factual book by David Simon that was largely the basis for The Wire (the real Jay Landsman is in it, for example) The Corner: Factual book by David Simon and Wire-writer Ed Burns about the inner cities of Baltimore (undoubtedly influenced The Wire, too) Clockers: A fictional book about the New York City drug trade written by Richard Price, kindred spirit to David Simon (supposed to be excellent) The Corner: 6 episode mini-series based on the the book, co-written by David Simon Homicide: Life on the Streets: Hmmm. Well, it's based on the book, but I don't think Simon was actually too involved with it (can't seem to find any episodes that were actually written by him on the IMDb). Treme: New David Simon show about New Orleans. Scheduled for 2010. Is it enough? Is it even good enough? I don't know
  3. The Wire

Dear god, I LOVE The Wire (Sorry, just started watching series 3.)
  4. Yeah, but it's hardly set in reality, Dan... This is the series where a goth lives in the boiler room. Every character is OTT in some way, not just the "geeks" (who more often that not are the ones we root for). The series is extremely affectionate towards geeks, IMO. Graham Lineham is a self-confessed (Psychonauts loving) geek, so that kind of sums it up to me. Did you think that Father Ted was making serious statements about Catholicism with characters like Dougal and Father Jack?
  5. Five BioShock sequels

You missed the last bit of his comment: "And just LOOK how successful Star Wars was!!! I think we've cracked it this time!" I can't wait to see the half-built Rapture II! (*thud*) Anyway, I thought Bioshock was designed to be more middling than just "good versus evil"? This is the game that gave you the option of harvesting children, afterall.
  6. Bah! The IT Crowd is really rather excellent I loved Father Ted, so anything approaching that level gets my respect.
  7. Rock Band 2...

...in *2* days?! Yikes! I hope they don't region code this one... but with all the licensing issues with the music, I'm guessing they will
  8. That was from Decline, not the special, IIRC. Wasn't this in the main series, too? If so, the defence rests, m'lud. Either way, this discussion is a great excuse for me to watch them all again
  9. Hmmm. It's so weird that so many of you like the Special as much the main series. For my money it just wasn't anywhere NEAR as funny as the original series. I watched it for the first time straight after watching the series, so it was back to back. As far as I'm concerned, the best Brass Eye was the last of the series (Noel Edmunds going crazy and shooting Clive Anderson - still makes me smile thinking about it). http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=W8X38AptH9s For me, Brass Eye was at its best when it was so outrageously over-the-top about serious issues. The anti-drugs charity called F.U.K.D.N.B.O.M.D -- and no-one noticed or said anything. In fact, anyone even responding to the "charity" was worth laughing at, it was so ridiculous. The whole absurdity of "Cake" and the music they listen to. I remember Peter Baynam recalling asking Morris what he was going to do with the massive yellow block of "cake" he had in his hands. "Oh, I'm going to tell them this is Cake." "You mean a model of what Cake looks like?" "No, I'm going to tell them that this is the real thing. They take one nibble, go into a drug frenzy and have to shove the rest in." Wonderful! Anyone who fell for that deserves to be laughed at, especially when they're espousing a "serious message" to viewers. In the Special, however, I seem to remember that the fake letterheads weren't that OTT at all, and that it would be perfectly reasonable for people take them seriously - instead of insanely, rapturously funny. *shrugs*
  10. What... The... Fuck...???

    Apparently they're extremely rare now.
  11. Metal Gear Solid 4 - Guns of the Saucer Men From Mars

    Oh, er. Hey Kroms!
  12. What... The... Fuck...???

I hereby surrender my civil liberties to the "watchful eyes"...
  13. New people: Read this, say hi.

    ****** *** ********* and most definitely not *** ********* *** **** ********* *** ********** you!
  14. What... The... Fuck...???

    Arrrrrrrrgghhhh!
  15. What... The... Fuck...???

No way is that real. Sorry, I don't buy it.
  16. Yeah, I'd like to give them both a shot, really, but as you can tell - I'm not chomping at the bit. Which is a shame. I'll put Barley on my DVD rental list.
  17. I LOVED Brass Eye. I LOVED Blue Jam/Jam... but the Brass Eye Special just wasn't as funny/effective as the original series (even though it needed to be made). Bushwhacked was a less funny version of videos already available on the internet. I haven't seen # My Wrongs #8245 - 8249 & 117 or Nathan Barley, but I've heard some very mixed things about them. It's sad to say, but I'm just not as excited by new Chris Morris as I used to be. If I were to over-analyse his recent public appearance that was bootlegged, this may sound absurd but... They say that every good satirist is a frustrated optimist and well, he just sounded miserable and pessimistic to me. Has father time corrupted him?
  18. Metal Gear Solid 4 - Guns of the Saucer Men From Mars

Didn't you leave in a huff?
  19. Well there goes any hope of me getting a job

Good lord. What's going on?? Did they suddenly make research illegal?
  20. What... The... Fuck...???

  21. What... The... Fuck...???

Holy blood hell, that was scary for a moment. Thanks for posting that! What's gotten into the press recently, then? Even the broadsheets are going crazy now?? Ugh.
  22. Grand Thumb Auto

But sadly it is a requirement.
  23. Wut? Dudes patch & mod Planescape: Torment

Really? After all this time and there's still bugs? Maybe you should email the patch makers? (What bugs have you seen, btw?)
  24. Availability

Weds are pretty much the only day (other than weekends).
