Yuffy: Generally a look of fear, comfortableness or even lack of eagerness should alert a man that's something wrong. Don't you think? Secondly, you've played right into the hands of that fine pile of reportage, The Sun. Why are you assuming that anything it's saying is even close to being accurate? Every single quote pulled from that interview was separated from every other quote, an old trick that allows you to pile all the juicy stuff together to support the chosen tone of your article. Seeing that we can't tell if this actually captured the essence of what was said or not, what's the point of even bringing it up? You seem to be angry at Ulrika (and other women who talk about similar 'date rape' issues), when you should be angry at the newspaper: they're the ones who made a big deal out of the issue.

Not sure about the Polish, but a French friend insists that Zizzi, which is a UK chain of restaurants, means "penis" in her native language. Rather unfortunate for them.

Peter Molyneux: Games to have Godfather-quality storytelling by 2016
ThunderPeel2001 replied to Alex P's topic in Video Gaming
An odd choice of date, but disregarding that, I think we'll see some very moving games within the next 3 years. -
That was brilliant. Fantastic artwork, too. With some improved animation, better library sound effects and being generally padded out a bit, I reckon it could be seriously amazing. I mean The Cat Came Back got nominated for an Oscar, right.

I think it's where she sits when she's being carried around.

I believe some Thumbs mentioned an interest in this...?

I hear you... If only I had the money. This thing might do, though.

Hmmm. Big Sister doesn't seem to be part of the same world as Big Daddy. With the BD you could see recognisable pieces of old fashioned objects and styles. It was a nightmarish amalgamation of familiar things... The Big Sister looks like she should be fighting next to Ninja Gaiden Black. In space.

Anyone had a chance to play it yet?

You're a very polite troll. Are you sure you're not hungry?

It sounds like it's going to be very different... Hmmm.

Whaaaaaaaa...? Like it's not going to use the original music or something?

Yoko? I thought the rights were split between McCartney, Michael Jackson and Sony? Classic story that I'm sure you've all heard before: McCartney and Jacko becomes friends, working well together. One day McCartney decides to give Jacko a free tip: "Make sure you own your back catalogue -- there's loads of money to be made there. Trust me. It's what I'm planning to do." When the time comes, McCartney finds he's been outbid for the Beatles back catalogue, only discover it was by his new "friend", Jacko. That's business! Edit: Interesting!

Early Indiana Jones transcript... leaked!
ThunderPeel2001 replied to ThunderPeel2001's topic in Movies & Television
I doubt it's Kasdan, Lucas is the one who keeps everything. The recent "Making of Indiana Jones" book quotes part of the meeting, so obviously Lucas kept transcripts. -
I believe you meant to say: Ho2Q0LE-gNc Steps to video glory (I get it now): 1. YouTube URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ho2Q0LE-gNc 2. Take Ho2Q0LE-gNc 3. Sandwich it between YouTube tags like so: [youtube ]Ho2Q0LE-gNc[ /youtube] Voila!

Wow, I know there's a limit on how fast they can spin... My old DVD-Rom drive had a "super fast" mode that you could enable, but they warned if there was any damage to the disc, it would most likely shatter at that speed! It's funny the speed of a DVD drive is limited by how fast the disc can spin without breaking, rather than any other technological restraints.

Hmmm. I think that was my point really, it was only people like the eccentric news vendor that were actually discussing the possibility of war. As the film progressed the war felt more imminent and real -- in the comic it felt like something less tangible (to me). Maybe I should read it again. I'd definitely agree that Veidt was the weakest characterisation - far too OTT and what was with that hair??, but he's probably the hardest to pull off I guess. I think Veidt should have had oozed genuine charisma, but the way they played him didn't come across that way at all. As for portraying him as a "conglomerate bad guy", I think you may have added that yourself -- or at least I don't see it as being much different from the comic in that respect. He did have a scene where his "real motives" were subtly revealed, though: When he tried to get everyone together as a team again, and Blake set fire to his map (why didn't anyone put it out, btw?!).

What with Watchmen being over 18's only and all that (at least here in the UK), you think there'd be less of this sort of thing. But I've had some horrible experiences in cinemas. I remember when I saw Will Ferrell's attempt at The Truman Show (the average Stranger Than Fiction) there was this horrible couple that just kept talking loudly through the entire film -- I was half the cinema away from them and I could still hear them clearly... People were politely telling them to please be quiet, and they were being told to "fuck off!" in reply. It'd be one thing if it was scrotes, but this couple were in their 30s, and the people they were aggressively telling to "fuck off" were in their 60s... What the hell is all that about? Eventually more people got involved but it was pretty clear that these people were not quite "right in the head" and I don't think anyone fancied tussling with them. Thankfully they left of their own accord, but not without creating such a horrible atmosphere that it had ruined the film for a lot of people. Such a bizarre and horrible experience... why bother going to the cinema if you don't want to watch the film?? It's not like it's a cheap way to spend the evening.
