There's a trick to enjoying Glastonbury, I think, and that's camping as far away from the Pyramid stage as possible. (Don't tell anyone!) I'd love to go again this year, I really enjoyed it two years ago.

GF and I were surprised at how little the kids in our screening bothered us... Despite it being quite a slow movie, they were all rather entranced (The 3D may have helped?)

Yahtzee reviews Duke Nukem Forever.
-
Are you sure about the origin's of Duke's name? The Captain Planet episode: "Meltdown Syndrome" originally aired on 9 July 1991.[link] The first Duke Nukem game was released 1 July 1991.[link] Bit of a weird coincidence, actually... Edit: But! The character of Duke Nukem appeared earlier in the CP series, apparently. Episode "Deadly Ransom" aired 13 October 1990! How bizarre!

Why isn't it Gobliiiins 4?
-
It's pretty shitty that having a hip-hop artist at Glastonbury created such a fuss.
-
You're kidding?! He's awesome on that. wtf?!
-
Sounds like it could be awesome What's this about a holy trinity? Edit: Bah. I thought this was the character Nico assassinates in the cafe (turns out that was "French Tom"). I thought it could have been an emotional journey -- You get to know this character only for him to be killed in the end. Bah. Could have been good.

No idea, I haven't done it in RB2, but I distinctly remember RB1 explaining most of this stuff to me. Oh the pain you could have avoided! Also, since you asked, the ION kit's pedal isn't actually supposed to be that great from what I've read, but I presume it's only the real die-hard drummers that are complaining(?).
-
??? No wonder your leg hurts! Have you done the drum trainer?

Ok, this is off-topic, BUT! Consider the beautiful simplicity of Gondry's video and the poor production values of this one: cQo2kf4Y4hQ It worries me that, despite a funny idea and a brilliant comedic actor doing his best, that simple things like framing, lighting and editing bring this down to the point where it interferes with the comedy... (Also: The guy in the background is such a poor actor he can't even look convincing standing still, nevermind his "hilarious" wig - ugh.)

You've RUINED my birthday!
-
Well I spotted his "acting" before I knew who he was, so that should tell you something. Still, he wasn't terrible, just not professional level. You're not talking about acting, you're talking about characterisation, but whatever. The character of Mouzone was a difficult pill to swallow, but Simon says (ugh - that was unintentional) that he was based on various people he and writers had encountered, or heard about, over the years (as was pretty much every character). The actor playing Ziggy did a magnificent job (probably why Simon cast him in Generation Kill), but if you want to talk about transparent Greeks then it's got to be THE Greek that fails the personality test.

Aye, you should lift your heel... There's much less pain that way. (I thought this was explained ingame?)

Monkey Island 1 special edition coming to XBLA

Could be a "magic wand". -
No. He's simply saying it's not less compelling than the other seasons. (?) Anyhoo, I was a bit disappointed in Season 2. If felt less real and more like standard TV. Plus, unlike Season 1, the other side of the story wasn't told (the women in the box were pretty much forgotten about -- and when we did others like them, they appeared to be very willing prostitutes - weird). There also wasn't much real police work and the setting up of a special unit to "do whatever we want to" seemed a far fetched. Saying all that, though, it was still flipping amazing TV. Plus once I'd gotten used to the direction The Wire was taking (after watching Season 3), my appreciation of Season 2 went up, too. I think Season 1 will always have a pretty special place in my heart. I've only started watching Season 4... what's the deal with the drop in picture quality?? (And damn... I could tolerate Jay Landsman, but there's seriously poor acting going on in the minor support: There's one minor actress in the first episode (I think) that looks at her marker as she walks into the head's office!)

"There is no uncanny valley any more," declares French developer
ThunderPeel2001 replied to Wrestlevania's topic in Video Gaming
However you pronounce them, they SUCK. I suppose it's about time somebody thought they'd give the "ooh, look at the graphics"/"forget the gameplay" model a go again. Shame no-one seems to learn: Dragon's Lair, Microcosm, Rise of the Robots, 7th Guest all weren't that long ago, were they? -

Jesus... the uncanny valley is very much still there. I think I preferred GTAIV: Lost and Damned's cut-scenes! -
Monkey Island 1 special edition coming to XBLA
ThunderPeel2001 replied to Marek's topic in Video Gaming
Wrong (unfortunately). The backgrounds for SOMI were drawn in Deluxe Paint and not based on any external artwork. MI2, however, did use backgrounds scanned from paintings by Steve Purcell (and probably others, too). I agree that THAT would be awesome to have (In fact I'm drooling just thinking about it.) -
Holy crap Ossk... That's freaking awesome! Yes, indeed it's true, I love Hellboy! Wow... Thanks to everyone else, too! (Although less thanks than Ossk gets, obviously.) I had a very nice birthday. Not only did I get a ridiculous amount of superb presents (I don't believe I've ever felt so spoiled in my entire life!) but I also had a very pleasant evening with my fiance, stuffing our faces with delicious Korean food - Plus... Rock Band Party Saturday, too! (Woo)

Monkey Island 1 special edition coming to XBLA
ThunderPeel2001 replied to Marek's topic in Video Gaming
This could be fabulous... or this could be awful. I want it to be great, but... Are they really going to bring in voice actors, 3d artists (it'll be in 3d -- you know it will), record some new music and design a whole new game engine... just for a XBLA title? It just doesn't sound like something a big company would do..... Surely they'd this farm this out to a 3rd party? And if it's not big budget then surely it means: Crap music, crap voice acting and possibly the horror of "new puzzles" and sub-games? Or will LucasArts just SuperEagle up the graphics and sell it for 800 MSP?? Unless something ground-breaking is on the horizon, I really can't see this being more than a "cheap 3rd party 3D port" (Prince of Persia, Speedball II, etc) or a "cheap 2d scale-up" (Pacman, Galaga, etc). I just can't see this being done with the due care and attention that people who even know what "The Secret of Monkey Island" is, would want. (What's with the awful title, anyway? "Special Edition"? Yeesh.) Finally: Monkey Island achievements? Maybe I love the original game too much, but no, I don't want them. Adventures aren't made to have achievements! Bah. Colour me 90% extremely cautious and 10% hopeful that I'm wrong. -
Wow, you guys are totally awesome! Junk mail, an entire festival in my honour in the Netherlands(!), a heart attack and some drawings. Plus, an ACTUAL present -- Thank you Erkki, what a wonderfully kind offer (I actually already own that very version ). Colour me chuffed. Best birthday ever

Wow. It's amazing what you can do with lighting and animation. Truly stunning!

I still haven't played Th1ef, T2eif or Th3if... I know I should get around to them one day.
