Yeah, I saw Toblix had written that... kind of a different reaction to the rest of you guys!

But only one in Europe (Actually it just goes to show: The internet isn't the first time that technology has caught on really quickly and changed the way people communicate.)
-
But LucasArts (LucasFilm Games) renamed it to Pipe Dream. I loved it as a kid!

I'm watching Battlestar Galactica at the moment (only three episodes to go!) and the last episode I watched was so freaking (should that be frakking?) awesome that it reminded me how good TV shows can be. The Onion AV Club put together their 30 best shows of the last ten years. I've only seen a handful of them, but if the rest are as good as the ones I've enjoyed, then I can only assume that the rest are definitely worth my time. Has anyone got any recommendations from that list? From the list, these are my recommendations (they're also the only shows I've watched "properly" from that list -- hopefully a testament to the quality of the shows I've only seen sporadic episodes of or haven't seen at all!): The Wire (natch) Battlestar Galactica (first series and a half is a slog, but it gets better and better) Firefly Curb Your Enthusiasm The Venture Bros. (awesome, awesome, awesome) Buffy The Vampire Slayer (the first season is pretty awful, but there's only 12 episodes. Later it reaches the peaks of The Wire - yes, that's what I said) And to a lesser degree... Lost (good, but can be very hit-and-miss and very frustrating -- I'll tell you when it's all over if I think it's worth the time! ) Futurama (skip the straight-to-DVD films and the episode on internet piracy -shudders-) Anyone else got recommendations from that list?

[Pedant mode = ON] Beguiling? [Pedant mode = OFF] (Sorry ) I'm guessing he didn't choose Fox, they were probably the only ones who picked it up. I wonder if he could find something for HBO?

What are you talking about?

Gears of War (1 and 2)? And where's Rock Band, already? Also, BioShock.
-
Wow. Did they really expect Brutal Legend to sell 2m copies...? And it sold, what, 446,668? (According to video gameCharts.) :-/
-
Well the game was set in 1917...? Where there a lot of phones back then? (I have no idea.) I've heard this before, but I can't find any evidence for it anywhere. In fact, on Barwood's own site he lists his involvement as "Design & Writing".

Just watched The Men Who Stare At Goats and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Left me with that warm fuzzy feeling. Loved it.

I thought that thing you posted pretty much proved it was bye-bye Liberty City? (Next stop, mountain ranges?)

Real deleted/extended scenes from the original Secret of Monkey Island as written by Tim Schafer and Ron Gilbert. Yes, I'm not joking. Weep with joy. Now I want to see the stuff they deleted from MI2.

The Secret of Monkey Island... Deleted Scenes!
ThunderPeel2001 replied to ThunderPeel2001's topic in Video Gaming
I personally found the Special Edition to be appalling in many ways, although I'm not sure it has anything to do with laziness, but probably more to do with lack of time/money. Also, I've said it before and I'll say it again: I don't think for a second that the team behind the SE said, "Yes! This is the version we've wanted all these years!". Unfortunately it seems that somewhere along the way they started trying to guess what "the fans" wanted... (a "hip" Guybrush?) The interface should be given the gaming equivalent of a Razzie (what was wrong with CMI's interface?). The voices were often ridiculously absurd. The tieing of the dialogue to the lines of text being displayed was a massive mistake, too. The dialogue. Sounds. Like. This. There were bits of artwork that were literally unfinished. They left the "10 O'Clock" bug in... *sigh* Still, it was a great idea to tie it to the original Scumm Engine (apart from the dialogue, which they should have set to a higher speed by default) and I'm glad it exists... I'm just too much of a fanboi to enjoy it, I guess. -
I'm Gay curious but I don't think I can make it tonight. I hope it's good so I can try it out next week...

Yeah, I think there's times like this when deliberate absurdity is lost on the reader. Charlie Brooker (I could tell it was him just from the quote) is akin to (and probably better than) Zero Punctuation.

Ok, but do you like 1993 adventure games, or was this a shitty version of a 1993 adventure game?
-
I've not seen that version, but I think every one I have seen has been pretty faithful, technically, but they always make Scrooge a 2D baddie and turn him into a 2D goodie. I think The Muppet's version is pretty decent, too. I'd just really like to see a version where you felt his transformation rather than just watched it. In a weird sort of way, The Game does this quite well for Michael Douglas's character.

Happy Older Day!

You make it sound like that's a bad thing... Although, barrel breaking sucks and has always sucked (IMHO).
-
That better not be a spoiler

Lol, you weren't a pillock, you were just really excited that it might be Keiron Gillen but were too afraid to ask... so I asked for you (Yup, it wasn't him - although it did look like him.)
-
Damn! That bad? What happened? Studio interference? Lack of a budget? Rushed production? Or did they just lay a stinker? Not the type of question you could ask in an interview... but you'd really want to.

Man, getting 100% on missions is HARD HARD HARD.
-
It has some potential, but it might well be relegated to the "past masters" category like Mata Hari. (Incidentally did anyone play this?)
-
I hope so. There's so much fun and wit in the Dicken's story that's completely omitted from every filmed version I've ever seen. For some odd reason everyone plays Scrooge TOO straight and he becomes a weird caricature, instead of a real person who's lost their way. The best version I've seen is the Alastair Sim version from 1950, it still has the same flaws I've just mentioned, but Sim does the best you could do. Really Scrooge should be somewhat likeable to begin with, almost funny in how curmudgeonly he is... and then it should get darker.
