  1. Videogames for very young children

Then surely this is what you want?
  2. audiosurf: Holy funk!

Well I've played Lumines for hours and just never really got anywhere, or even felt as though I was improving, or even understood where the strategy lay... Maybe I'm just crap at it? Audiosurf, though, I get the idea of why it could be fun, but in reality the level generated bears very little to the song that's being played... so it may as well just be a randomly generated level with Windows Media Player in the background. The gameplay seemed pretty random, too. Plus, what with every song the universe being available, it's not like you can even take satisfaction in comparing scores with your friends. Nope, just don't get it.
  3. Assassin's Creed II

So, what's the verdict, folks? Massive improvement, or more of the same?
  4. audiosurf: Holy funk!

This is another of those games, like Lumines, that just totally goes over my head. I really don't "get it" at all.
  5. Old Games That Hold Up...Or Don't

Started playing Thief and yeah, sure, it looks wank, but I'm enjoying the atmosphere and concept so far. (This is due to reading John Walker's retro-review of it, thanks to the link that BBX posted -- some great stuff in there that will get you itching to try out old games... like Thief )
  6. Movie/TV recommendations

I was really looking forward to that movie, but everyone told me the ending killed it. Should give it a go and see for myself, I guess.
  7. Old Games That Hold Up...Or Don't

Does it have widescreen resolutions by default? I have a feeling it doesn't, which may account for their "fatness"?
  8. Videogames for very young children

Haha! Awesome! I've no idea what to recommend, but I bet they soon start kicking your ass That must quite a fun moment for a gaming Dad: Welcome to the wonderful world of games... play this, this and this, and enjoy the best the gaming world has to offer. I'd be almost tempted to break out a SNES with Super Mario World and say: Start old school, you need to know your history (I bet they'd complain about that, though!)
  9. Black Friday Deals

Wow. Is KOTOR some super special version that works perfectly with modern systems? (Or does mine just crash because I patched it to run at a higher res? :-/ I forget)
  10. Just be prepared for them to suddenly turn their backs when they become successful...
  11. Beatles: Rock Band

    Ahhh, Twin Peaks.
  12. Bargains

Can we please tone down the filthy, disgusting ********* language, already? I don't want this site getting banned by my work.
  13. Do you want games?

Good gravy. I just did some research and there's some fantastic stuff there. My Dad loves puzzles and things, but doesn't have many DS games. I'd bagsy Prof Leyton, but seeing as that's gone, I'll go for Meteor or Touch Detective. If that's ok.... Wowzas.
  14. Do you want games?

Are these all DS games or what? I'm confused. Also: You rock, Toblix. I hope these games find some appreciative homes.
  15. Black Friday Deals

You can pick up the "Complete Edition" for £9.99 from Amazon.co.uk, too. (Anyone know what the extra stuff is like?) Edit: Apparently it's just 3 extra weapons and some multiplayer maps.
  16. Black Friday Deals

Holy crap! Take that, Steam! Now if only I could find a way to get it shipped cheap from the US... Hmmm! Edit: $35 for shipping?! Pfft. Whatever, Amazon.
  17. ファイナルファンタジーXIII

    Woot. Thanks for the heads-up!
  18. Black Friday Deals

Why does $9.99 equal £9.99GBP ($16.50) on Steam? :'( I'd buy it for $9.99, but not for $16.50 (really short on mulah atm).
  19. Black Friday Deals

I've never even heard of that site... But holy crap: Wow.
  20. Old Games That Hold Up...Or Don't

Great idea for a thread. I'd love to hear people's recent experiences playing old games. You hear so much about how "great" certain games are, but how much of that is nostalgia and how much is genuine awesome? Miffy just started a similar thread, so I suppose we add his SNES Mario Kart to the "is still fun" list.
  21. Have you met many other writers out there?
  22. Life

Aw, shit Hope things turn around. Getting mortgage these days must be a really tough.
  23. DZAaKH0FYO8 Oh the possibilities...
  24. DEAR DEVELOPERS OF THE WORLD - I NEED THIS

Yeah! That's what I'm talking about. Non-linear time-travel tactics that work into the gameplay itself. A sand-boxy GTA style game with a time-travelling Delorian. It's not THAT much to ask... is it?
  25. Life

This one is the best. (Seriously, you look cool!)
