  1. Bargains

I've worked hard and come up with this for our gang: OUR GANG I don't think anyone will mess with us now. 'Nuff said.
  2. ファイナルファンタジーXIII

What did you think of Blue Dragon? (If you've played it?) It sort of seems to be a FF step-child, but I don't know anyone who's played it.
  3. ファイナルファンタジーXIII

Well, you can rag on it all you want once we've got our hands on it, but in the meantime it's all just third party opinions. It does sound like SquareSoft might have finally dropped the ball a bit on this one, though. I hope it's not the case, but FFVIII had its fair share of criticism, and some people love it.
  4. The Wire

It may sound like a frivolous thing to do, but I doubt you'd find anyone here who would think that was a waste of money. A very wise investment!
  5. Movie/TV recommendations

Well, I've got one episode to go of Season 4 of The Wire (looking forward to it, although this season has so many balls up in the air at this moment, I've no idea how it can be satisfyingly ended. Time will tell.) Also, I finally finished Buffy! All done, and what a great show that was. Now I've got Angel 4 and 5 to watch and I'm done... until I get the comics for Buffy Season 8. Then onto Dollhouse. And Season 5 of The Wire. Woop.
  6. My little project

So is the point of this that the writing styles are going to vary wildly or what? Why hasn't anyone posted their chapters? Looking forward to seeing what Toblix comes up with. Me next!
  7. Movie/TV recommendations

I love that moment, though, because by the end they're usually saying, "that was pretty good, actually". My ex was in that, so I got to watch it being filmed and then walk around the set afterwards. As far as "likeable assholes" go, I prefer BlackAdder to Becker, but Becker definitely had some good moments. You see, if you'd started with "Ugh, it's in black and white is it?", you'd probably have enjoyed it a lot more
  8. Grand Thumb Auto XLVIII: Brown Power

Great game, everyone. That was hugely enjoyable, with too many highlights to fully recount (that crazy moment where everyone kept respawning in the same place with rocket launchers in their hands?). One moment that really got me, but which probably isn't funny to anyone else, was in the final death match: The baseball bat fight in the airport. At one point, as I was running to the helicopters, I noticed a pink spot right behind me in the map. Almost on top of me, infact. It turned out I was being chased by Grippage... and I knew if I stopped for a second I'd have a baseball bat in the back of my head, so I kept running. And he kept following. Right behind me. Like some relentless Terminator. Several minutes later (yes, minutes) Grippage is still right behind me and the helicopters are finally in sight. Except there's only one. When we get there, I just manage to squeak myself into the chopper before Grippage can do anything about it. I start to take off, but notice that he's trying to get into the passenger side... and suddenly I'm off the ground, but I feel bad. After all that running it seems only fair that I should allow Grippage the chance of being a passenger. Why not? It'd probably be fun, too. So I immediately begin my descent, and having only reached about 10 feet off the ground it's very quick... but find myself landing right on top of poor old Mr. Grippage, accidentally killing him instantly. I went from trying to do something genuinely altruistic, to looking like a complete and total bastard in about two seconds. I'm very sorry, Mr G... but the it did crack me up for several minutes. I can't imagine how it looked from the outside... a helicopter rising a few feet, missing a passenger, then suddenly dropping down and squishing said hopeful, before flying off. So many great moments. Great stuff. Also, the "in game" chat seemed to work a lot better than the party chat. We should do that again.
  9. Movie/TV recommendations

false = !true I loved Delicatessen and The City of Lost Children... but Amelie. Sorry, I found it to be far too sentimental and forced. Maybe I was in the wrong mood, but I don't think so.
  10. A History of Evony Ads Evony is something else (who cares about those cheap crappy online games). I'm more annoyed by the insane boobage that just about every female character seems to have in games these days... Who was that one from Soul Caliber? It's geting embarassing now. I was thinking that there needs to be a new campaign (it's been a while since the Blue Skies In Games one). Something along the lines of Realistic Tits In Games, or something.
  11. San Francisco

Well, I DID try and tell you...
  12. After my recent dip back into the wonderful world of GTAIV: Thumbs Edition - Live! (X-Treme Deluxe XXL) I'm keen to back into playing this again... So, I'm taking the initiative and getting this started early. Next Tuesday (the 12th) @ 9PM GMT. Be there, or be rectangular. Edit: Tuesday! Tuesday! (I meant Tuesday, sorry.)
  13. I hate RapidShare

Argh! When did RapidShare become so evil? I friend of mine is doing me a massive favour. He's uploaded a single file to RapidShare for me, but RS is doing it's usual "Servers are full except for Premium members" BS. It's been two days now and I'm still getting the same message. It's such a pain for him that I don't want him to go the hassle of reuploading it somewhere else... so I'm left having to spend £7GBP ($10) just to download a single file... ARGH. Fuck you, Rapidshare!
  14. Merry Christmas!

A little late for Xmas, but absolutely hilarious none-the-less... Say hello to my little fren'!
  15. Tales of Monkey Island

How's your re-tread of the S&M games? It's interesting to hear how people are kind of surprised at how good they are when they return to them, but it's also interesting to hear how they haven't found their voice yet.
  16. Tales of Monkey Island

I have to absolutely and totally agree with what you said (except for Ep 4 being the weakest -- it was most definitely the weakest in the terms you describe, but the atmosphere, story and puzzley goodness were excellent). The hamfistedness of Ep4's revelations and the total undercutting of LeFlay's character from a really interesting one to a two-dimensional one was pretty sad to see. (When did Guybrush become so popular with the ladies? That's not really in his character, is it? Oh well.) Also, as you suggest, the ending didn't make a lick of sense.
  17. Tales of Monkey Island

Ahh, that Rap Scallion scene always got me. No idea about Season 2, but I think you can take it as read that there is definitely going to be one. I mean, this has been their most successful series.
  18. Tales of Monkey Island

So I finally finished it. (I took my time.) I have to say that, despite my reservations, I really enjoyed it. The final "lonely" bit was really atmospheric, too (I wonder if anyone loaded an old save at that point, thinking they'd done something wrong?). It is a shame that nothing permanent/challenging/exciting was done to the universe, I do think that TT have a tremendous opportunity to take decade's worth of familiarity and really twist it into something even better than came before. Yes, better, because they can build on things in a way you couldn't have done in 1996. Plus, the the original generation of MI fans are no longer 12, but are now actually in their 20s/30s, so we've got a taste for something with a little more meat. (I'm not talking War and Peace here, I just mean being a bit braver to mix it up a little, and add more drama.) In all, it was a great finale to a great series. And for my predictions? Morgan LeFlay won't really be dead by the end of the series... Elaine and Guybrush end up happily together... The Voodoo Lady isn't really evil... ("it's all true, from a certain point of view") LeChuck IS really evil, but won't be destroyed... Jacques the monkey and Stan will both be in the final "party" shot at the end of the game... Bonus prediction: Guybrush will have his hand magically re-attached... out of 6 -
  19. My little project

I think there's a lot of interested people here (fantastic) but your brief is too esoteric. If you want people to get involved I think you've got to be very realistic about how much time and energy they're willing to commit, and if you don't set some sort of boundary then the time and energy required looks to be tremendous... meaning nobody will ever actually get around to doing it. If you can put together a very simple, specific and limited brief, I think that would help tremendously.
  20. I hate RapidShare

Lol, I think that just about sums it up. Thanks for the kind offer, toblix. I wish I'd known! Oh well, now I have to find other RS things to download over the next 30 days.
  21. Life

I think this is a recent thing, I've noticed it, too. I hope they fix it soon, it's very confusing.
  22. So.. Batman: Arkham Asylum

    I like Windows Live
  23. Books, books, books...

DOH! (I did put that in my original message, but then I thought, "nah, he'll have seen it".) Oh well. Maybe I should just add it to the old "inbox".
  24. Books, books, books...

How does In the Name of the Rose compare with the movie? I remember hearing that Eco hated the film, but I remember really enjoying it when I was younger. Are they drastically different, or are they both good, or would you say that the movie pales massively to the book?
  25. Movie/TV recommendations

Wikipedia begs to differ Interesting stuff, though!
