Civ III had just the right amount of everything to allow me to get into it and enjoy it. I've never played IV, but I can't imagine it could be better than 3! (Am I wrong... because 3 is dangerously addictive.)

Is this cat thing really worth so much discussion, or was it just a nice find when you didn't know anything about it? It feels like it's one of the best things in the game from the amount of talk about it.... Is it really just a little joke (dead cat in a box?).

Good gravy... Usually most people don't start enjoying it until about midway through (once they've gotten used to it and it's starting to come together). It seems like you're off to a roaring start... shame you have to wait until summer

The Hound of the Baskervilles is NOT short-stories, as Kroms just wrote, but actually the third book. It's also easily the most readable and enjoyable (IMO), even though Holmes doesn't feature in it very often. I would probably suggest starting there, as I doubt you need the introduction to the characters that A Study in Scarlet provides. (Even if Watson is actually a fully rounded character in that one.) A word to the wise: The short stories get lamer as they go on, but even the best ones aren't filled with things you could "figure out"... you're just along for the ride. Also, get used to Watson .
