Battlestar Galactica (BSG) and spinoffs
ThunderPeel2001 replied to Marek's topic in Movies & Television
You won't find answers, but listening to Ron Moore's podcast at least reveals intentions. Also: Wow, you watched every episode... in a week?! That's something like 60 hours of TV?! Which means you'd have to have spent 8 hours a day watching it...? -
Any recommendations of his?

Pi is ok. Not a bad start for a filmmaker. Come on people, list your favourite film! (If I can do it, anybody can -- this is probably the first time in a decade I've answered that question!)

Well, I'm looking forward to reading the continuation of the Buffy-verse in Angel: After the Fall and Spike: After the Fall, and also in Buffy: Season 8. As for the comics I've been reading at the moment, they've been Buffy related, too Joss Whedon did a story with a character called Fray, set in the future but in the same universe. Very good. He also put together two anthologies of stories written by the Buffy staff, Tales of the Slayers and Tales of the Vampires, too. Both were excellent, but the latter was better. Yes. I know. I will eventually come out my Buffy isolation, but right now I'm having a ball

The greatest headlines in the world (and other weird news stories)

That's actually a lot more interesting than I thought it would be! -
I need to read more of Wodehouse, I have a feeling that his Wooster series isn't representative of his best work. Maybe I should check out some Evelyn Waugh. As for other authors, I've heard that Mark Twain is surprisingly hilarious, too (ie. it has aged really well).

Ugh. I can't even bring myself to click through... -
I didn't work "in the industry" while I was there, but I know people who do, and they seem very well-adjusted. But I also remember meeting people who were absolutely obsessed with "making it" (and hadn't), and it made me realise that I didn't want to be like them, and also that I certainly couldn't (and didn't want to) compete with their tenacity. So it kind of killed some pipe dreams I had... but in a good way. I was kind of like, "if that's what I have to do, then you can keep that dream, I'll take another one thanks". Of course, you may remember me telling you that your first 12 months in LA are considered the worst. After that, it does get much better (you've made good friends, and actually have a life, etc.). How has it altered your hopes and dreams, as it were? It sounds like you had the same experience as me: "You can keep those dreams, I'd rather enjoy my life!"

Lol. I live in the London, so it would be quite a trek. I was there last August and plan to be there again this August. (You weren't there last August were you? Did I totally flake out and forget to suggest meeting up? If so, I'm sorry!) I was just wondering how it went. Quite a unique place, isn't it? I really do think my little maxim holds true: "It's a nice place to live, but I wouldn't want to visit."

Battlestar Galactica (BSG) and spinoffs

Don't forget the Battlestar Galactica Viewing Order for maximum enjoyment! -
The original thread wasn't good enough for ya? I still want to talk about Civ III... As far as I'm concerned it's the pinnacle of Civ gaming. Except I haven't played Civ IV or Alpha Centauri.

グレートscottの!

That's precisely how I felt. Odd they haven't made more of a big deal out of it... it's a major addition to the game! I'll pick it up this weekend and post back my thoughts.

I haven't seen anyone talk about the Hammer of Infinite Fate DLC, so I assumed it hadn't been released... but apparently it has?! Although it comes with a ton of new material: Three new outfits (Mountain Man, Black Metal and Zaulia Threads) Seven new back patches Four new paint jobs for the Deuce Three new weapons for the Deuce Six new Mount Rockmore heads (including Tim Schafer) Four new multiplayer maps Nine new achievements But the main thing I'm interested in is the last addition: The Occulus of the Lost -- basically something that shows where all the undiscovered items left on the map are. Any thoughts on this? As far as I'm concerned that's the main reason for getting this DLC... I don't really care about the rest of it (although I don't mind it). God knows I can't be bothered to search everywhere to collect everything! The weirdest thing is that XBL only describes it as adding two new maps and an axe (if I was reading the right one correctly). Very odd.

Lol. Of course, it's patently obvious that the red and blue thing you're wearing is because Back to the Future is your favourite film I can't name a single favourite film, but throughout my life I have had some: Back to the Future was my favourite for years. Then it was Die Hard. They're still both great, but now, if push came to shove, it might just be Network... but there's so many great films to choose from.

I'll be there, although I'd prefer if they'd add the one improvement every one of these games needs: Invulnerability to the worm you did the most damage to in the last round. Otherwise it makes sense to just focus on one worm at a time -- and this upsets your fellow players.

Naughty Miffy, it's clearly all your fault, and you should be forced to apologise for everything. Even for me not turning up until 10. Hope whatever it is that's got you so low isn't too bad, or at least gets better soon. -

FAIL Podcast wins again. Damn you podcast! -
Congrats on turning your life around... That's amazing that you left with a single C and have pushed yourself to become a Doctor. Awesome props A friend of mine became a doctor, or nearly did (I think he was 6 months away from finishing) but he quit because he couldn't take the stress anymore. I think he'd become an alcholic long before then. Now he's a janitor for a special needs school... and has never been happier (still has problems with the drink, I think though). But I also have a friend who's a nurse (who enjoys their job) and I know that the medical profession is very diverse and offers dramatically different experiences depending on where you're working. Could you not move to a less "depressing" department once you're qualified?
