  1. Piracy has hit a new low....

You have to remember that these so called "piracy" figures are NOT numbers from torrents or Rapidshare: They're just the number of times the bundle has been downloaded from the official site, compared with the number of donations they've had. Which actually means that 1 in four people who have bought the software legitimately, have downloaded it twice. (Possibly, also legitimately.) It's really not that shocking when looked at it in that way, if you ask me. I could see myself downloading it twice for any number of reasons (second computer, etc). This just looks like crappy, lazy journalism to me (shock!). As for the people who actually DID pirate it, I imagine that a lot of them might not even be aware how cheaply it is available (they just clicked on a link that someone sent them). (Plus the "penny gap" is still pretty huge.)
  2. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

Aye. The Guild is something special. I have yet to watch Seasons 2 and 3. Their website is insane... it's go TOO many features. It's like a mini social network. Very weird. Crank call... yXpxC02HmOo
  3. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

Apologies for spamming the thread, but if you enjoy the first episode, chances are you'll want to watch the rest... Best amateur internet series I've ever seen. grCTXGW3sxQ Qb7GNu3NN-E SrCoUqWns6g OplPTPdDSKA pKkVIbA5iyE JtBO4R-ZD_A f3dRlbjgp7o rNWt0J-MYko orFgoo28IOU rq05zQjgoUA
  4. Post your face!

Your face is on the back of your head.
  5. Monkey Island 2: SE

Yeah, I'll never forget how awful the X-Wing games were...
  6. Monkey Island 2: SE

    Crap.
  7. Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box

The first game was the er, first game that my ex ever completed. She loved it.
  8. Recently completed video games

Wow, this year... I'm not sure I've beaten ANY game. Hmmm.
  9. Life

What the fuck does that mean?! Makes me angry just reading it.
  10. Fallout 3

Ah, but these guys are living in absolutely squalor, and they sound like robots... Robots I tell ya! (We shall see if I'm right.) I think the anti-happiness in sci-fi thing was a reaction to the grey, white picket fence 50s, and the fear of conformity. The Stepford Wives, etc. (Just my 2c.) Thanks for all the suggestions (especially Squid Div), looking forward to getting stuck in again
  11. Hands on Deathspank

Yeah, I think it's a bit simplistic to imagine Ron just sitting on a huge pile of cash. He business partner went to prison for taking out loans based on forged documents saying Disney were going to buy their company (as I understand it, apologies if I'm getting that wrong). He joined as Creative Director of Hothead games... in order to make DeathSpank? Are all people who make games at Hothead made Creative Directors of the whole company? Also, I thought DS was episodic... has he finished all the episodes? Sorry, but there's definitely more to him leaving Hothead. Even if it's not exciting, there's definitely more to it. You don't just quit a job in this climate, especially before the reception of your first game for a company... What if it's a huge success? Will he return as Creative Director again? It's all a bit odd.
  12. Monkey Island 2: SE

No, it's more contentious than that... If anything there's friction simply because some of us aren't super OTT in love with some of what we've seen so far, and because we were burned with the first SE, and so are bracing ourselves for the worse. Of course, there's still hope for MI2... and some of the stuff we've seen does look very nice indeed.
  13. Fallout 3

Ha, wow! I've not come across that. It's hard to know what's unique and what's something that everyone will have seen. There's that weird town where everyone is super-happy. I've yet to explore that properly. I've not seen that Lovecraftian house near Tenpenny Tower yet, either... I've still to explore TP Tower at all (although I did take one save and go and blow up Megaton just to see if you really could -- answer: Yes, you really can, and it's quite impressive!). Well it looks like 80 to 100 hours is what I'm looking at. Anyone know how far into the main quest I am (at the Citadel). I'm afraid that you can't continue after you've finished the game (from what I've picked up in this thread), so should I do as much exploring before pushing on with the dull story?
  14. Fallout 3

Damn And everyone complained that the game was "too short"? Whaa? Anyone else got a different estimate?
  15. Life

Man, that sucks! Can't you complain? Being forced to move twice, the interruptions, the drilling?
  16. Monkey Island 2: SE

    wtf?
  17. Fallout 3

Can't believe I'm still playing this... Ok, so I took a long hiatus, but I feel like I'm so far behind everyone else. Really enjoying it, though. Think I might go for all the achievements, in fact. I've put in 45 hours(!) so far -- really can't believe I'd bother to do that for any game these days, I really must be enjoying it. I'm trying to do as many side-quests as I can find. The main storyline is pretty dull and unexciting, but the whole atmosphere of the game world is quite addictive... although it's getting much less scarier now I'm level 15... and I remember hearing how easy it gets when you hit level 20. Still, very much enjoying it Can I ask: For those who bothered to explore every location, what was your final hourage? I've seen elsewhere that 50 hours is about average, but someone in this thread managed 140(!). I'd like to get a rough idea how much longer I'll be playing....
  18. Hands on Deathspank

Yeah, I guess so. It seems odd that's he's leaving, but whatever.
  19. Movie/TV recommendations

    Best. Story. Ever.
  20. Hands on Deathspank

Anyone know why Ron Gilbert left Hothead before the game was evening finished...? Also, stepping down as Creative Director at the same time. Seemed like a really odd thing to do.
  21. Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box

Loved the first game, looking forward to playing the new one.
  22. Floppy-tastic.

    Haha
  23. Gizmodo seized by police

It was just silly. They clearly should have just paid for access to the phone, rather than the phone itself... Or maybe I don't understand the law in this situation?
  24. Brütal Legend overload...!

Yeah, I remember thinking that playing the multiplayer AI was far more enjoyable than doing the story RTS stuff... I actually began to realise there was a well balanced game in there, but then I gave up and forgot about it. Thanks for the links, I hope I won't just get stuck playing against some super god who kicks my ass.
  25. I guess I did! I'm not about to buy it again!
