1. Movie/TV recommendations

Watched Sunset Blvd. and I feel somewhat conflicted about it. On the one hand Norma Desmond is a raving lunatic, on the other, everyone feels sorry for her and treats her like a child... making her insanity worse.
2. Movie/TV recommendations

Why did you spoilerise your review? Spoiler tags are to discuss things with people who have already seen the movie (or don't care about it being spoiled). I'm glad I clicked on it to see what you wrote... I think I'll check it out now, thanks!
3. Unnecessary Comical Picture Thread

Nancy Reagan? I...
4. Back to the Future

Yep. That's quite a tall order, but I hope they manage that as well.
5. Red Dead Redemption

Lol! Yes, I remember that same feeling with GTA. Everyone said 'don't rush the main quest, enjoy the side ones and take your time'... but I had to go for that achievement Liberty City Minute didn't I? Did Rockstar learn their lesson this time?
6. Back to the Future

Maybe they'll get Eric Stoltz I think Hollywood stars are a little out of TT's price range, especially when they could probably get passable imitations for a fraction of the price. Love to be wrong about this, though. As for Gale and Zemekis being involved... surely not? Maybe Gale. Maybe. Again, love to be wrong
7. Back to the Future

ZOMG! Also, I still want a game with these mechanics....!
8. Red Dead Redemption

I did? I don't think I did. You just reminded me of John Wayne's broken character in The Searchers with your post. Also, how would I know anything about your love for Westerns? :0/ Big awesome that the game should elicit such an emotional response... If only I could afford the damn thing.
9. Movie/TV recommendations

Ooh, thanks for the recommendations! I really fancy Sunset Blvd., actually. I saw it a while back, but All About Eve has really made me want to watch it again (interesting that they were contemporary movies). I'll definitely add the ones you recommended to my list, though... Aside from Rope (which I didn't think was all that gripping, to be honest, but I didn't see all of it) I've not seen the others, and I'm sure I should.
10. Movie/TV recommendations

Watched The Seventh Seal. Was quite unlike anything I'd seen before, in fact, if I didn't know better, I swear it was a piece of art. It really wasn't what I'd call a "film", at least by my usual understanding of the definition -- it's obviously technically a movie, but did something I'd never really seen before. It was moving in places, profound in places, and well, annoying in places. Overall experience: Shocked. But a recommended experience.
11. Monkey Island 2: SE

Has he made an announcement yet? I have a feeling it will be along the lines of: "I'm going to take LucasArts and build on its obvious strengths of strong IP, but also start development of exciting new IP, to take the company in a bold new direction." ie. Blah, blah, blah.
12. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

Here's the video I tried to post ages back... Copyright stopped it from staying up for longer than a few hours, but now it's around. Since I tried to post it, it won an Oscar for Best Animated Short. I think it's awesome for so many reasons... 81d8SUaCMJo Reasons why you should watch this: 1. Se7en and Fight Club director, David Fincher, does one of the voices. 2. It's quite unlike anything you've ever seen before. 3. It's a cynical and subversive look at our world... 4. ...but it's also exciting, well crafted and fun. 5. Take a look at some stills from the film... Don't be afraid of the play button!
13. GTA LXII - Do I hear rockets?

Anybody up for some Grand Thumb Auto this evening?
14. Red Dead Redemption

You're a broken man. Ever seen The Searchers?
15. Movie/TV recommendations

And then I watch All About Eve. Also awesome
16. Books, books, books...

Lol
17. The greatest headlines in the world (and other weird news stories)

Ha! Stewart Lee does a great bit about a similar snafu in his show "Stand Up Comedian". Apparently he was interviewing Ang Lee about The Hulk (the comic of which he is a massive fan) and made a joke: "Don't me Ang Lee, you wouldn't like me when I'm Ang Lee". Second link here: http://blogs.warwick.ac.uk/jmiles/tag/stewart_lee/ Not sure it's true, but it's funny
18. Movie/TV recommendations

Wha...? Oh no! Oh shit! RUN FOR COVER!!!! There's an extra on the set that quite upset me: As a joke, Michael J. Fox plays dresses up and plays Marty "like a Mexican". Yeah. For reals.
19. Life

Good job on being so mature and rational about it. Post back when you've heard the results.
20. Happy Birthday!

What he said!
21. The greatest headlines in the world (and other weird news stories)

Most inappropriate typo ever... doh!
22. Movie/TV recommendations

Just saw The Apartment. WOW. What a movie BBX, yeah, I seem to remember there being more police or some sounds of rioting or something, as Marty and Doc are leaving. Very subtle, but a nice detail.
23. Happy Birthday!

Birthday + Thrik = Happy birthday to you too, Thompson (I have a feeling you're hidden your DOB, and so nobody knew...?) Anyways: You got the CS5 Master Collection for your birthday??? Holy crap, that's $5000!!! That's quite a lot for a birthday present...!?
24. Life

You need to lose that last bit, if you're going to make it a reality. All out!
25. Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse

Yeah, both Seasons improve in their latter halves... although I'm not sure the utterly surprising song and dance number in Season 1 will be as utterly surprising to someone who's played their more recent games? (Who knows.)
