  1. Christmas Cards

Oh yes, indeed! Snoogles, your parents should rest easy. I sent Toblix my address and all I got was some awesome games. Oh, and that pedophile. Nothing to worry about!
  2. Double Fine's next new game announced: "Stacking"

Everybody moaned and complained about DeathSpank and it came out... Nobody is saying these games WON'T come out for PC, they're just playing it safe after nearly going bankrupt a bunch of times.
  3. Double Fine's next new game announced: "Stacking"

Oops... I missed the thread (and I looked for it, too.) Apologies!
  4. DeathSpank

That was me. But to be fair, I was juggling darts at the time.
  5. WTF is Telltale's new game?

I guess because they think it'd be easier to program? So, let me get this 100% right: The deck is a "real" deck. Which is to say, if I fold when two players go "All in", and I watch the cards being dealt ("the river", or whatever it's called) and realise I would have won if I'd gone "All in", too... Then I REALLY would have won if I'd gone all in. It wouldn't have been different cards that would have been dealt? If so, I'm very pleased
  6. WTF is Telltale's new game?

    Interesting:
  7. WTF is Telltale's new game?

Damn you, Jake! Oh, well. I still had a huge amount of fun playing it last night!
  8. HELPS!

Not sure if you've tried this already, Miffy, but have you tried putting the game in "software" mode? Sure, it'll look as ugly as sin, but it should be a lot more stable. Also, I take it you've installed the official patch? I wish someone would fix this game for modern machines/graphics cards
  9. Back to the Future

    Screenshots look sah-weeet! http://uk.pc.ign.com/articles/113/1136346p1.html
  10. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

Yeah, I wasn't sure if I was supposed to bring myself to laugh AT them...? But I couldn't, it was just amusing and entertaining.
  11. WTF is Telltale's new game?

Apparently I'm not retarded at all... it doesn't make a different, or so Jake says: http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/showpost.php?p=397674&postcount=55

I can't agree that she rips off Tolkien (or Dahl), but I do agree that there's some problems with some of the books. The first two almost gave me headaches (especially the first one) because of how simplistic they were. 3, for me was a huge step up into something interesting, and I really enjoyed it. 4, for me, was the peak. She knew how to drop crumbs all over the place, leading you down certain paths, letting you convince yourself that you'd figured it out all out... only to learn that she'd wanted you to think that all along. Very clever! The first third of 5 really needed an editor, but then it got (finally) got going and was good. 6, left me a bit cold, especially the awful way she handled the ending... There was no emotional resonance, whatsoever. 7 was brilliantly structured, and once again she showed off her supreme skills at weaving a tale where you genuinely didn't know how it was going to end (if I had to pick one aspect she's utterly brilliant at, it's throwing you off the trail, and not succumbing to tropes with anything obvious). I think I've already said in my earlier post how I felt reading it, so I'll continue to say that I think it's really something special that she never resolves their impossible situation using deus ex machina. The epilogue, however........ Dear god, if there was ever a few pages that needed to be stricken from the series, this was it. It nearly ruined all previous thousands of pages it was so.... horrible, and dull, and left nothing to the imagination. The ending of the final chapter was the PERFECT place to leave the series, but no... she had to add the pages she'd been keeping in her trunk all those years. Except she really didn't. They sucked balls. Anways, that was my experience with the series
  13. The greatest headlines in the world (and other weird news stories)

Hehe, it reminds me of this... Rotation Of Earth Plunges Entire North American Continent Into Darkness Classic.
  14. WTF is Telltale's new game?

Excuse me for just about to start sounding retarded... If I download my copy from TellTale directly, will I still get the Steam achievements? (Told you I'd sounded retarded.) The reason I ask is I hate the way Steam games require Steam to boot and connect before the game itself will run. But I would like some tasty achievements for no good reason.
  15. The greatest headlines in the world (and other weird news stories)

    Let me guess........ Daily Mail.
  16. WTF is Telltale's new game?

Hey Jake, I'm really interested in the AI that's used... I'd love to learn more. Did you give the NPCs pre-set traits? Do their chance of making a "mistake" (i.e. not playing optimally) change for each turn? How accurate is the poker simulation? Etc. I've always wondered when it comes to these sorts of games. Thanks!
  17. Bot quotes

Can't you also administratively rape them through the pants? Puh-lease? These two, for example, keep posting: http://www.idlethumbs.net/forums/showthread.php?p=157012#post156932
  18. L.A. Noire

Ha! Exactly Well, that or the trailer isn't representative of the level of storytelling.
  19. Movie/TV recommendations

Well that's fair enough. I think I enjoyed the fourth book the most out of the series, and if you didn't like it, you didn't like it. You have to remember though, these are books aimed at kids. I found the first book almost painful to read, because the language was so simplistic, but it's aimed at a very young readership, so it's kind of expected. Thankfully the books get more sophisticated as the series progresses (the characters and the readership growing up together). I was perfectly happy with her level of language used in book 4, but then I wasn't reading it expecting it to be The Great Gatsby or Moby Dick. The level of the language used and the storytelling itself both continue to mature with each book, but if you weren't uttery grabbed by her ability to accurately capture the feelings of being a teenager, and her excellent storytelling skills, then it's most definitely not worth continuing reading... Especially as the first third of book 5 is in desperate need of an editor. Me too, it was actually the film that me think, "hmm, maybe these folks who love the books aren't so silly afterall", which led me to reading them all.
  20. Movie/TV recommendations

*draws blade* In all seriousness, that's quite a bold claim. Can I ask which of the series you have read? Same goes for you, Ben. I'm really, genuinely interested. Please don't be shy.
  21. Kinect

If you're talking about the racing game video, I think it's only fair to point out that there's plenty of racing games using controllers that are exactly the same... at least on their early levels.
  22. Broken Sword: Director's Cut

    ARGHHH...
  23. Direct mp3 download

Wow, that's a pretty specific breakdown!

  25. WTF is Telltale's new game?

Heh. I bought my game from TellTale, so no Steam download for me. I don't mind, it's just I never seem to get alerted when the games I've bought are actually available. It's not a biggie, just mildly annoying. Edit: Oh wait, it worked! Why is there nothing to tell me that on their site? Thanks, Popper!
