Brainy Gamer and something else. Dargh.

Hey! You're too young to be so cynical and apathetic. Get back to being optimistic and naive!

Awesome TED Talks (and similar enlightening lectures)

Hmm. Interesting points, sir, I think I'll have to think about what you say. -
Ha! I just saw it for the first time, too. Had the same feelings you do. Really enjoyed it, despite its glaring faults (abrupt beginning, empty ending - for starters). There was something uniquely charming about the whole thing. I saw Tron 2 and have to say that, for the most part, it was pretty equal to the original in terms of quality. The story is much better than in Tron 1 (what story! the entire film is just a chase sequence) but I do admit to getting bored... But since the first film was so flawed, it's hard to get too angry with it. I'm ambivalent about it, but I think that if you loved Tron, you'll find it's a worthy sequel... although maybe lacking a teensy bit of the charm.

Sci-fi shows? If you're looking for something pretty "lite", and possibly that your girlfriend will enjoy, FIREFLY -- all the way.

Anyone doing this? It seems quite fun, even if the changes of winning are next to zero. I've gotten 6 so far. http://store.steampowered.com/treasurehunt

It turns out that you need to be signed in to Friends for it to work. Lame, but ay least it works!

Jonathan Frakes Is The Devil (The funniest QL)

Well I am only judging them from the one video in this thread, so maybe that's too harsh. Especially when it was a not a "serious" piece. Still, the description you've posted sounds like something I wouldn't like, so... maybe it's not for me for entirely different reasons -

It's great that someone is attempting to get something truthful out there... althought the person seems slightly insane. Say what now? You think you're defined as being "Left" because you're anti-rape? I may not agree with conservative politics, but the ideals pushed by the "Right" are not "pro-rape". -
Hmph. I've logged into SteamPowered.com and the Steam client and I still can't get the "Logged in on the 20th" final step to be checked. According to my calculations it's 5.43am PST on the 20th Dec... It should register!

Don't forget to log in on the 20th, or it won't count for poop. It'd be awesome if one of us won

When it's £4.99 I'll pick it up

In what way?

Aye, I saw Mysterious Skin at the London Film Festival. Quite harrowing, but I was glad the author director and two of the actors were there (including the dude from Third Rock)... it made it seem a lot more palatable. Good film

Damn you, William Gibson!

The several-friends-with-a-microphone-who-are-mildly-uncomfortable-and-have-nothing-structured-to-say formula just doesn't do it for me. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, The Hollywood Saloon is a great example of two friends of 20 years shooting the shit, while also informing, and having interesting opinions. The also don't talk over each other. -
The one deal I missed. How cheap was it?

I remember a William Gibson book where he pointed out something really obvious that I'd never considered before: The AIDS virus is flawed... it doesn't want to kill its host (ie. the person it has infected) because it means it dies, too. Eventually it should evolve to the point where it is non-lethal, so it can survive longer.

Just watched it now. Yes it is!

Scary stuff I hope you find some kind of balance. Are you having to stop playing games altogether now? Or just certain games? If it's the latter, I'm more than happy to discuss slow games, as I'm not a "twitchy" game lover, myself. In fact, I think a good chunk of us are adventure game lovers.

Grumpy Santa is the best Edit: Hmm, both those games got great scores in all the review rags, are they really so bad? Edit edit: I read your thoughts. (Yes, I'm psychic.)

Gosh, in London, but Orbital and Forbidden Planet are about as close, I guess. Whereabouts are you, Mr. Ben?
