  1. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

That 10k trailer doesn't look anywhere near as beautiful as the 1K one. I think part of what makes the original so pretty is just how... beautiful it is. From editing to music, to the 1,000 yellow cars flowing like water particles. Just wonderful.

    Is there a short answer?
  3. Recently completed video games

That's cool. I don't like that quote, either. Hmm. I think we're all going to see where they finally end up with this... I'm still not sure either way. It could definitely be as horrible as some are suggesting. Time will tell! Yep. This is the James Pond game they released between Robocod and James Pond 3. Personally I've never been a fan, and I particularly disliked the Aquatic Games because it was so randomly difficult... but it always bugged me that I could never complete it. Cue: Man with lots of free time on his hands
  4. The threat of Big Dog

I think that's more to do with your internet speed, than your PC's speed, but either way: Hermie! Your home town is pretty, wow! That's a lot of mountains!
  5. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

That's really, really cool... How long must it have taken for one guy to do that? (Assuming it's not on a server because of the Netherworldy bits.)
  6. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

That is so cool (I bet we see it in a Hollywood Matrix-style movie soon.)
  7. Gemini Rue

Cool graphics, a sci-fi theme, a point and click adventure, with an added dash of noir... and this game is popular before it's even published?! Somebody get Charles Cecil on the phone -- Beneath A Steel Sky 2 is a go!
  8. The Legend of Kyrandia

Fair enough, but as I say, from the ones I've played, being able to tap "down" twice to avoid an attack has made a negligible difference to the ones I've played. Obviously I've just not been playing the right ones.
  9. The Legend of Kyrandia

That may be the case. I've never played Virtual Fighter, but I've played plenty of other 3D fighters since, and I can't say that the gameplay felt any different... but I don't know anything about VF, so I can't comment. I'm sure there's plenty of other examples where there were no additional -- or very slight -- gameplay benefits from jumping into 3D, though.

    Love this!
  11. The Legend of Kyrandia

Yep. The "3D Revolution" went even worse from the ugly pre-rendered stuff that it started off with. I remember saying around the time of the Sega 32X (anyone remember that?) that graphic quality had gone backwards. From the hand-drawn beauty of this (in 1993)... To this "3D progression" of this (in 1995)...

  13. Movie/TV recommendations

Yeah, that's quite a big difference... Although if you remove the "living in a whale" aspect, I can see how you might try and interpret it like that. Also, now I understand your "pirate themed motel" reference, lol!

So nobody was convinced by my argument, then. So be it.
  15. Movie/TV recommendations

No worries. I just haven't seen it yet, and I wasn't sure if that was going to ruin any of the impact when I did. Well, for what it's worth, the Coen bros say that the film isn't a retelling of the Book of Job, so you should share your thoughts! (It's an amazing movie, IMO.)
  16. Weirdness in games... isn't it normal?

Totally agree. Brooker has progressed away from his guise as the "angry reviewer" into something much more substantial. Even his angry rants are usually extremely accurate and balanced (which just makes them funnier). Plus he's not afraid to write about how much he loves something. Of course... that's how he began his career, writing for PC Zone. (Although I think he was just angry about everything back then. I never found him to be particularly insightful or interesting in PC Zone.) I never said that Yahztee's reviews were better or worse than anyone else's specifically, let alone the two reviewers you mention that I've never even read/watched/listened to.
  17. Movie/TV recommendations

Huh? That's not my understanding of the Book of Job. (Maybe mine is wrong.) Job is, as far as he knows, completely innocent. He has no communication with God whatsoever, and wonders why he is being punished so. It's ultimately about a man wondering why he must suffer... just like the film. (Also, in the Bible his friends all say he must have sinned to have been given God's wrath, but in the end God says they're wrong and rewards Job.)

Arnold Schwarzenegger and John Millius on the Conan the Barbarian DVD. 86-vveE9DI4 People voted this guy Governor.

The Amiga version is slightly better, but I can understand going for the DOS version for ease (it was just a port of the Amiga original). It's worth looking up the controls before you begin, so you can save your progress

Bleurgh. That sounds horrible One day games will mature with the audience that's playing them... One day. In other news, I'm unemployed, as this video (my second ever posted to YouTube) shows far too well... mm9n3xBeQUo (Yes, another Amiga "classic" completed.)
  22. Weirdness in games... isn't it normal?

Did you watch the review I linked to? Quote: "If my daughter brought a multiplayer game home I'd rinse out her vagina with baking soda." Gee, how "edgy" of you, Mr Yahtzee. He's not even making points anymore, he's just trying to cram as many "hilarious" offensive comments as he can. Edit: To be fair, his Top 5/Bottom 5 of 2010 did make me chuckle a couple of times.
  23. Weirdness in games... isn't it normal?

In some ways, yes. Yahtzee became pointless long ago, in my opinion. Edit: He's still at it... and my god is he bad. I couldn't watch it all the way through... http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/2519-Assassins-Creed-Brotherhood
  24. Toonstruck... 2?!

That's really not much at all... but who signs online petitions these days, anyway? I hope we get to see this become a reality.
