  1. Fallout 3

Wow. I just checked. I've got 363 saves, equalling 1.72GB... and I started playing on 27 November 2008. It took me a while to finish that game! My game folder (presumably including Broken Steel, although I'm not sure) is 5.64GB. That's quite a lot of FO3 on my HD. If you don't have the saves anymore, there's other more "creative" ways you can get them...

  3. Mein Thumbcraft—IdleT Dedicated Minecraft Server

Holy crap! There's been some major developments in New Haven...... I'm scared to think how long they must have taken! The airplane... the chateax of unknown origins... the Scumm Bar! Wow!
  4. Life

Manchester, eh? I bet this is commonplace wherever there's trams (or "trolleys").

Ha. Well the joke's on me then. Seriously though, good line-readings as Ben there, er, Ben. I can't stand shitty line-readings (and it seems most people have a tin ear for that sort of thing -- see TellTale's Bone "Special Edition", or those folk who think Fate of Atlantis sounds perfect), so I give you this complement not lightly! (Of course, the fact that it's the same person saying all the lines really throws off the timing, and the microphone is no good, but aside from that... it sounded exactly the voice/delivery I imagined when playing your games.)
  6. The Last Express

Limitations of the time, but certainly the most immersive experience until things like that happen. Probably an unpopular suggestion, but I'd love to see a HD update of this game... Same style of graphics, but with more frames and smoother transitions.
  7. Plug your shit

I agree (apart from the bit I struck out -- those sort of recommendations never work out). From a usability/reader point of view, the text doesn't seem to be part of the artwork. Also, I was thinking about the whole "what is an opinion" question, and it vexed me a while. But I think I've figured out why Thompson's explanation doesn't work for me: An opinion isn't something that can withstand facts. If contrary facts are presented, then it changes to a lie or a delusion, not an opinion. Likewise, if an opinion is proven to be true, then it is no longer an opinion, but a fact. So anything that can be countered by facts isn't classifiable as an opinion (in my opinion). Which is backed up by this dictionary definition: A belief or judgment that rests on grounds insufficient to produce complete certainty. If your statement is on ground that sufficient to produce complete certainty (either for or against), then it isn't an opinion. Anyway, that's my 2c on the (quite interesting) matter.

Yeah, I wonder who added that and why.
  9. Fallout 3

Wow. It took me 70+ hours using fast travel (could not handle that annoying respawning)... without it, I don't like to think how long it would take.
  10. Fallout 3

These are easy to get. Just load a level 7, 13, 19 char and kill enough innocents/give enough water to the thirsty chap outside Megaton/Rivet City until your Karma is good/bad enough to be neutral. Then get some XP. I thankfully didn't have much trouble with these, in fact I'd say the achievements in FO3 are some of the better ones: They're (mostly) worth getting during a thorough playthrough (like collecting all the Bobbleheads), and are definitely achievable to all players.
  11. The Last Express

    Agreed.

gNMPevekcwQ I'd react in exactly the same way as this guy
  13. The threat of Big Dog

    Cannot watch.
  14. Fallout 3

I got so sick of seeing the same factories over and over. They were probably my least favourite bits (along with the main storyline). Agreed that Oasis and the B&W sequence were probably the most interesting, though.
  15. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

Remind me why I can't play this again (Not sure about Dan's voice, but Ben's line-readings were very good -- I laughed several times. Dammit. Several times!)

It's so weird, because all he had to say was: "You're right, that sounds terrible and I'm really sorry for any offence it may cause. My intention wasn't to make light of this awful tragedy, but was rather my attempt as a human being to rationalize something difficult and unpleasant. It's hard in situations like that to always say the right thing, and in this case I obviously failed. Once again, I'm very sorry for my insensitive remarks." Of course, after the accidental assassination of a UK civilian by the police, Sir Ian Blair (head of the police) said exactly the same thing (in different words) as soon as he put down his pre-prepared speech. He somehow got away with it in the media's eye, I think, but he was soon forced out of power by our new Prime Minister -- so it didn't go completely unnoticed.
  17. Christopher V. Flett - time to grow up

Well to be fair, he's not published a comment in some time, so he may have not wanted to start a new discussion. And he DID publish one pro-gamer comment.
  18. Are they trying to start a trend of "dumb" adventure game heroes?

Comedy comes from characters' inability to handle situations... this is pretty standard stuff in comedy, including games that want to be funny. Just because two adventure games did this poorly doesn't mean there's a "trend".

    It's only a movie. It's only a movie. It's only a movie.
  20. Christopher V. Flett - time to grow up

Damn. Well, he decided against publishing my stinging, damning rebuttal. No doubt he was brought to alpha-male tears at my many crushing points. Well, maybe not. I tried to point out: 1. We're the first generation of folks who grew up with games, that's why there's no-one older than us playing them -- this will change as we grow older. 2. Female gaming is on the increase -- are these women losers, too? 3. It's certainly not any more childish than watching sports ("My team lost the match... *cries*") or hell, playing sports. Going to the gym -- sure, that makes sense -- but organised sports? Why do you need to kick a ball around with other men? It's no more "mature" than gaming. Considering the posts he did decide to publish... I think mine deserved a response.
  21. Fallout 3

Yeah, I wouldn't classify myself as someone who loved the game... there's plenty that's pants about it. I did enjoy it, though, and I'm really glad I finally finished it, so it's not bugging me anymore.
  22. Stacking

The Good Fuck me, this game is beautiful. There are times when I it looks like a real stop-frame animation, and not a video game. I love that. Even beyond that, the general art-direction is fantastic. The game feels polished. The concept is a good one, and it's clearly explained. It's fun to mess around in that world. The Bad I'm 75% through the game, and each level works like this: Go around trying every doll to see what skills are available on this level, then randomly try them on each "puzzle" to see if they solve the problem for you. (Usually, they will.) Then stick around to try and solve the puzzle in different ways (i.e. repeat what I just described). The "puzzles" are spectacularly basic and don't use the potential of the concept. Generally speaking you just "stack up" until you reach the size of the doll with the skill you want, and then just use that skill. There never seems to be any problems that require you to plan ahead, so that you need to have the right smaller dolls inside you... even for the alternate solutions. Conclusion It's a wonderfully original concept, made with immaculate attention to detail, and a real eye for beauty. It's a fun world to mess around in, and it's definitely worth your time, but the actual gameplay feels rather random and basic. Thankfully, you'll forgive it because of the pros (I think).

This is just audio, so you'll have to make the video in your mind (I'm sure it'll be good!) LISTEN: Guybrush Rockwood Taken from this site: http://hvv.ocremix.org/
