Haha. Very good. I think I would have said, "Three thumbs up!".

So I finished Episode 2. As everyone already pointed out: This is the shortest episode I think I've ever played of a TellTale Game. Noticeably shorter than anything else I've played of theirs. It wasn't bad, though. As far as the story goes, I don't think anyone can pretend that it makes a jot of sense... it's gotten SO convoluted now, with all kinds of weird, inconsistent rules. (Why would George McFly's face start to be erased from the Polaroid? That would leave an empty Polaroid photo... who would take a photo of nothing? The entire photo should have disappeared. Doc says things like, "I can remember going to the cinema", as if that's proof that history doesn't change, but as Ben pointed out: The people who change time don't recall the changes. And the ending: I'm pretty sure even the die-hardest BTTF fan has found problems with all this leaping around by now. The only time I used a hint was for the final puzzle, which was bizarrely timed. Even when I knew the solution, it wouldn't worked for me. I just had to keep trying over and over until it clicked. As for bugs, I witnessed several. If you're standing where you can see the cinema in the distance (the far distance, near the Speak Easy) and a car goes past, the whole game grinds to a graphically corrupted halt. Subtitles kept coming on and going off during Trixie's singing (I play with them off). And, strangely, I ended up with the gun in my inventory at the end... How did that happen? In all, I still enjoyed it, though. Looking forward to part three.

How about Bannigan? dBQ3HbB0c8Y

No, he was. Seriously. Just a lone gunman who wanted to be famous. Nothing more than that. (I love the diagram in the court room showing the "official bullet path" -- it was almost deliberately distorted to make it impossible.) Some amateur animator took all the available footage and modelled the most accurate 3D representation of the Daley Plaza ever created. He won an Emmy for his troubles and his work was independently confirmed by a forensic modelling company (they said his work displayed "absolute geometric integrity"). He was initially a conspiracy theorist, but ended up proving himself wrong: The bullets all came back to the "sniper's nest". Clippy: ikIRB3lvFvw More detail:

Such an amazing movie. Stone at the top of his powers. Not sure if I've seen the Director's Cut or not, though. Hmmm. Also: As amazing as this movie was, it was essentially utter bullshit. I find it hard to believe that Stone bought into what he was selling, but (I think I'm right in saying) apparently he did. *shrugs*

I know a lot of people here really hate them, but I'm the opposite: I love them (provided they're not really annoyingly difficult to get). I know it's sad, but I do get a sense of accomplishment knowing I've done "everything" in a game. (Although, I hate Steam Achievements, but because there's generally 5,000 of them per game.) I occasionally look around my XBox Live friends' profiles and compare our achievements, but there's no getting away from the fact that it's really, really, annoying to do: There's no "compare all" option, and you have to scroll through shitloads of games before you see the games you both own. It's really irritating, and rather crappy. (Maybe it's better on the PS3, I don't know.) Does anyone know of a site that puts all these things into one place, so you can compare your progress? (A website somewhere?) I find it rather useful to see a) If I'm shit at games and If an achievement is actually achievable by normal humans. Also, it's interesting to see how far people have gotten into games before they've decided to do something else. (I just noticed that a Thumb -- I forget who -- has completed every single Fallout 3 achievement, including all the addons! Wow.) Speaking of which, I wish XBox Live wouldn't mix addon achievments with main game achievements. I spend time wondering what on earth a description is making reference to, and then realise it's from some add-on that I don't own. Pointless!

Do you have a SATA 1.5 port free? Some old HDs don't play nice on SATA 3 ports.

Yep. That's the one achievement I don't have for that game. Shame because the original PC/Amiga/ST combat was actually fair. According to TrueAchievements.com, only 3% of players have this achievement. There's a guide for combat on there, too. But it's far from watertight:

That's brilliant! They even used the crappy default blue background with white text (although not the default font). So good.

Can someone help me identify this strange hard drive?
ThunderPeel2001 replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Idle Banter
This is so true... and yet I'm always terrified when I do a system upgrade or reinstall. Or just put them in your CD drive and use them as a normal hard-drive. (I think most people don't know this trick!) -
It may seem (and actually be) a bad description, but "Social Games" is commonly used term that people recognize (god knows I spent a lot of last year reading about them and discussing them).

In more positive news: Episode 2 has a really strong opening act. Totally pulled me in and wouldn't let me go until it was over

Same here. Them getting rid of Heather was one of their worst decisions from a user's point of view.

Mein Thumbcraft—IdleT Dedicated Minecraft Server

I'm currently unemployed, so I can't donate much, but I'd hate to see the server go. Suggested donation amounts? -
Yes I was... I still have an original boxed copy of Outcast from when it was first released :-P The reason I know that little anecdote was from a review at the time of its release that criticised its cheesy script (I personally didn't notice it as I didn't play with subtitles on). (Sorry ;-P)

Interesting that that's posted by the news network itself on their official channel... Clearly this is part of the expected banter they have?

I'm surprised I had to set my resolution and graphical settings again... can't it see what I used on the previous episode? I don't wish to sound spoiled, but I've given TellTale Games a lot of money over the years... but their attention to detail seems to be getting worse, instead of better. It's weird... Are they trying to boost their profits? If so, I'd suggest upping the prices instead.

[Sesame Street] I guess we all have to buy a Kinect now...

Hey! Remember this? Everyone was trying to guess if the other box's wrapping paper gave clues to the then unknown games (Double Fine said they were producing four games -- two were known at the time). Looks like the box on the left did hold a clue afterall... So what's going to be in the box on the right? (It looks like razor wire/barbed wire to me... Some war game?) -

XBox 360 HD that's been removed from its case? A better place to ask might be here: www.superuser.com
