  1. Brütal Legend overload...!

Hoo! Love that adventure game version. Sweet graphics! Just got 100% completion on this the other day, too I can confirm that playing the game officially makes me nauseous. Seriously. I've no idea why, but it does. I can play it longer if I turn off the sound... Going around getting the achievements has actually been quite enjoyable (not the 100% one, that was a pain in the ass, the other ones). I don't know if I'm building up an immunity, or if having the audio turned off helps, but I've actually enjoyed playing it again.

Derailing threads is sometimes forgiven, and in this case, dammit, I'm pushing for it (if only briefly). One thing I've noticed about JN is that he seems to seriously hate having his picture taken. There were only a few photos of him published in Your Sinclair and AP, and in the "Making of" of the radio show he did, Mil Millington claims he's never actually met him. Do you reckon that's true? Have you ever met him?
  3. Spaff working on a Movie with CryEngine3 ?

    Sure looks like him!
  4. GTA V

But not with the character's journey, which appears to be your primary complaint.
  5. GTA V

Saying that, they managed a good balance with Red Dead Redemption, I thought... and I do think there's massive room for improvement, given how their model provides so much space to tell a truly gripping story. Rockstar: Get a decent screenwriter to come in and do a great job, instead of giving it all to Dan Houser and that awful DJ.

Really? I followed him (and the rest of the gang, Stu Campbell, etc.) from Your Sinclair to Amiga Power. Then to AP2. But then I lost touch. Are you a real-life chum, an online chum, or a reader-type chum? Lol. (I know he uses the word "chum" a lot ) I wish he was reviewing XBLA games or something.
  7. GTA V

The story was good, as were the characters. The fact that you become a murdering bastard in the missions themselves is a problem with the game itself. I'd prefer to have a well-rounded character, than having a homicidal maniac just so he stayed "in character" during missions.

I've listened to it 500 times now and I think it's beginning to work. Thanks for the tip eExfV_xKaiM

Looks like his HTML hand work, lol. Thanks for the link... I wish he'd get some help with his designs. Also: First episode of the radio show, for free: http://orsomething.co.uk/481/the-adventures-of-sexton-blake/

Are you a follower of Mr Nash, then? If so, what's he up to these days? Also, was this radio show any good?
  11. AWESOME time-killing sites with huge archives of gold

Holy crap, I didn't know two AP writers were also responsible for the Adventures of Sexton Blake radio show. Wow, good on them. http://www.bbc.co.uk/buyersguide/1078 (Never heard it, heard anything about it, and apparently it's over now... but still!)
  12. Hard disk fail

Yes, static damage. It's not recommended, but some folks claim to have done it without problems (like yourself).
  13. Piracy/theft

Ha! Excellent bits of trivia I vaguely suspected that I recognized her from Father Ted, but I'm probably thinking of somebody else. (Or they used the same make-up lady on that show, too.)
  14. GTA V

No chance after what happened, but I agree, I thought he was a strong character.
  15. Movie/TV recommendations

I saw Rango and The Adjustment Bureau today. Rango: The beginning of this film is fucking sublime, but it turns into a standard Hollywood flick by the end. Looks beautiful, though. The Adjustment Bureau: It really is Inception-Lite For Romantics. Which is to say that it wasn't that bad at all. Just not great. Paul was also better than I was expecting.

It's THE PUBLISHER who decides what platform they're going to release a game on. I'm sure Double Fine would LOVE to be paid to take their games onto other platforms. A games studio being paid to make games = Happy game studio. Do you think they dislike Wii, DS, and PSP, too? If they're being PAID to release a game on another format, then why on earth would any development studio decline? (Unless there was a serious lack of development skill available in-house, but that's another thing entirely... it's not like they wouldn't want their games on other platforms!) You could argue that DF should shop around until they find a publisher that is only going to publish their games onto every format, but that's a different discussion. DF aren't publishing these games. It's worth adding that after nearly going bankrupt during the making of Brutal Legend, I'm pretty sure they're not in the greatest place to be picky about what deals they get. If these four titles sell well, maybe they'll be in a better position to shop around for the perfect deal, but right now I'm sure they're probably trying to find some stability while improving their status in the gaming world.

    You're turning into Kingz, Patters.
  19. Piracy/theft

Videos! UK people will know that this annoying little advert pops up at the beginning of a lot of UK DVDs. It's really irritating, especially when you can't skip it or something. It's also really loud (so it tends to make you jump), embarrassingly "hip", and horrendously patronizing. Enjoy it, foreigners. HmZm8vNHBSU It's obnoxiousness was nicely spoofed in an episode of the IT Crowd, too. I9_hWoGrxWg (Sorry if you've already seen these things.)
  20. Stacking

Every time I've played Brutal Legend I've felt sick. I'm wondering if it was a frame rate issue, too.

Steampunk is something set around the Victorian era during the height of the industrial revolution. It was sparked by weird facts like Charles Babbage inventing the first computer before there was electricity. http://www.cbi.umn.edu/about/babbage.html Anything that doesn't evoke the era pre-electricity and post-steam is not Steampunk.

To be fair, grumbling makes perfect sense, but getting angry is what strikes me as pointless.
