  1. My graphics card has kicked the proverbial

Can't you just sum it up in a few words? :\
  2. My graphics card has kicked the proverbial

I'm still waiting for answer from Patters... I'd like to know.
  3. Mein Thumbcraft—IdleT Dedicated Minecraft Server

Huh. Well I've just looked on the official site and that's basically it: Notch is just playing the game and adding things when he thinks of them, and removing them when they're no fun. That was fine to get going with, but he needs to step this up. Hire a beta testing team (maybe keep refreshing it with new blood) and work with them and a team of programmers to add several new features at once, based on the feedback they're getting. Work with the beta team and figure out what worked and what didn't, and keep iterating like this: At a much faster pace. Otherwise this thing will still be being developed in 10 year's time :-/ That's my 2c anyway.

Hehe. Sounds like you're having the same experience as me. For some reason I've managed to live with the laugh track (as much as I despise them in general). The pilot hurt so much because of it, but it's definitely gotten better, thankfully. My next episode is Season 1 Episode 13. Sounds like you're blasting through them. As for Sorkin, there's always The West Wing, right? This is my first Sorkin TV show, but I can see myself moving on to the West Wing afterwards. Note: How many episodes can one man write? The guy is a machine! For a 22 episode season you don't expect the showrunner to write many episodes. In fact, I've never seen a show where that's been the case. Sorkin has written the vast majority so far, and co-written all the rest. Wow.

Considering the guy's now a multi-millionaire, I'm surprised progress isn't being made faster on this game. It seems they're just randomly adding features, rather than implementing a coherent plan. Am I wrong?

    You're doing it wrong.
  7. Movie/TV recommendations

    Definitely. That's very cool...
  8. Movie/TV recommendations

I'm currently watching and loving Sports Night.
  9. Life

Both! They signed it in my presence, and I later had a little chat with Gebbie. (One awesome lady.)
  10. Life

And keep your eyes off my signed Lost Girls boxset (oh yes)
  11. Nintendo 3DS

Did you adjust it? Apparently everyone's eyes are different, so you have alter the slider to the side of the top screen when you use it. When I had a go, it made a huge difference.
  12. Life

That sounds like the right kind of life. Busy, active and full of use Hmm. It's sounds silly, but that didn't cross my mind. He's doing a reading, so probably no Q&A (knowing Alan Moore). Bus could be done for £17. Hmm.
  13. Movie/TV recommendations

Definitely. A good combination for a film director
  14. Nintendo 3DS

Google says a new battery is $4. You tell me if it's wise or not to invest in one.
  15. Life

Although to be fair, I've seen Predator many times... and I'm still up for drinks.
  16. Nintendo 3DS

    Buy new DS battery?
  17. Nintendo 3DS

No, I don't think so. It was such a weird decision!
  18. Unnecessary Comical Picture Thread

Yes, these are really the real posters for the movie. Behold and recoil in horror. (And no, it's not an April Fool's joke.)

NORTHAMPTON THUMBS I've just made a stupid fucking decision because I'm an idiot. I just bought tickets to an Alan Moore event in Northampton... and I live in London. Why did I do such a thing? As tickets are completely non-refundable, I'm believe I'm pretty much screwed. I just threw money away on something I can't afford. Why did I do such a thing? Would any Thumb like to see comic-book genius Alan Moore in Northampton? The tickets are a mere £5 each. I have two of them. Argh. I'm an idiot.
  20. Life

Our perceptions about the "good" or "bad" of certain things are completely irrational and based on our own pre-decided opinions. Kingz, instead of thinking you've become "compliant", why don't you try and twist it around another way: You're dressing smart so that you're more likely to get respect from your team. You're dressing smart so that your team is more likely to be protected from upper-management BS, because they'll have more faith in you. You're dressing smart because you like looking snazzy and powerful. You're dressing smart because it puts you in a better mindset for your new role. You're dressing smart because you know the sea of BS you have to swim through each day, and looking a certain way will make it easier for you to get the things YOU want. Don't imagine puffy suits that you hate, imagine yourself as a smooth character from any 40s, 50s or 60s movies you like. If none of that rings true, don't forget that you're the one whose decided to feel bad about your suit. Nobody else had said anything to you (that you've mentioned, at least). You may actually look super fucking dapper in that thing! Anyways, that's my 2c. It may not help at all.

Source Code - From the director of Moon. Another enjoyable chunk of sci-fi, with quirky, but realistic, characters. More sentimentality this time around, but it never goes too far. Very enjoyable. Fair Game - True story of the "outing" of a CIA agent, and the idiotic reaction of the US press. Interesting story. I wonder if we'll ever know the truth. Cave of Forgotten Dreams - Werner Herzog documentary about the oldest cave paintings in existence... in 3D! Well worth your time, and lot more interesting than it sounds. (They're all worth your time.)
  22. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

I don't see how anyone can dislike this song, even if is by a band The Dude hates.
  23. Nintendo 3DS

Did they fix the issue with Wifi Security from the first DS? I remember it couldn't handle WPA, only WEP -- which nobody uses any more.
  24. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

And just to repeat this: She did not write the song, nor did she have any artistic input. She was simply asked to sing in it and perform in the video. If you want to get angry about the artistic quality of the song, then take aim at the people who wrote it, recorded it, and made the damn video! Personal attacks are not criticism. Leave Britney Rebecca alone!!!
