Don't know about Thompson completing it in 5 and half hours... I got a good 10 out of it (at least according to Steam's counter), and I never really got stuck. I did listen to every bit of dialogue, read every poster, and explore every nook and cranny, though... (I got at least three achievements from doing that.) It's still a big difference in time. Anyways, I thought it was a FANTASTIC game. Loved the world, the characters, and the story. And I loved working my way through Aperture, learning more about their history. Did everything a sequel is supposed to do, adding, expanding, improving. (It makes the original look quite bland by comparison!) As others have said, Stephen Merchant was good, even if he was just doing the same character he always plays -- it worked for the game. J.K. Simmons was brilliant, but I think we all knew that from the videos. Great balance between "test chambers" and more organic environments. Also a superb use of sound and music throughout the game -- wonderfully effective stuff. From the subtle score (which just added to the game instead of drowning it out) to the way they got sound effects to become part of the score. A gigantic improvement over the boring HL sounds that were everywhere in the original. Best Valve game? For me, yes. I always find their games a bit too clinical for their own good (I hate the "lead character never speaks" thing they do), but this time the world and other characters were so vibrant I was having too much fun to notice. Best game I've played this year Now onto co-op...

Good. I'm glad they did that. If some kids can change a score to what they want, a massive corporation like EA could do the same. Metacritic need to get their shit together if they want to be taken seriously. Edit: Oh. It seems I may have gotten the wrong end of the stick. Hmm. Lame.

Well, Portal 2 is going to go live in the next few hours. It's been fun
-
I think they really believed there was more story to tell. Oh wait, no. It's for the money.
-
Haha! Well done, you've exhausted yourself playing games. Here's your prize... more games!
-
Yes! The potatoes are a multiplier going for the remaining games, so they should be completed in half the time. If you've ever wanted to help out, the next 10 hours (while the potatoes are counting down) are when you should do it!

Nifty.

Hmm, indeed. Still, I'm glad I've had fun playing these indie games. I'd owned a bunch and never actually bothered to play them. As it turns out they were really good! I am wondering if we're going to actually unlock everything before the timer runs out. Especially as everyone is in work now. I have a feeling that 500,000 potatoes was what was needed, but who knows.

The potatoes remain a mystery. They increase your man hours, but nobody know by how much, or when. I wonder if we'll see a boost at 500,000? From one of the devs: http://valvearg.com/w/images/7/7b/Mail_from_Jeep_to_Ryukaki.png

Yeah, check your profile. The number of potatoes you've earned is displayed there. (Check mine for an example: http://steamcommunity.com/id/thunderpeel2001/) There's sometimes fiddliness with getting potatoes that the ARG Wiki doesn't cover. (It's still worth looking at, though: http://valvearg.com/wiki/Potato_Sources) I've tried to elaborate on what's written there for people who aren't completely up to speed on my blog (only because I can't figure out how to get an account on their wiki). I haven't done AudioSurf yet, although I do own it, so I probably should, but there's some background detail on the whole thing: http://thunderpeel2001.blogspot.com/2011/04/glados-reboot-help-portal-2-get.html If anyone has any suggestions or additions, I'll add them ASAP. Thanks. Also: I pre-ordered Portal 2. Yeah, they got me. I have to say, this whole thing has been a heap of fun. I'm so glad I played Defense Grid, I love it! Also also:

Damned economy problems brings out the worst in people. Hopefully it won't be long lived.

I've been updating my guide to getting potatoes, if anyone is interested. Defense Grid has a ton which are really easy to get. http://thunderpeel2001.blogspot.com/2011/04/glados-reboot-help-portal-2-get.html

Huh! Defense Grid is really good fun. Also, Cogs is pretty nifty. I now have 7 potatoes

Hmm. All this work to be a few hours early... Yeah, I'm getting a little less excited. Saying that, I've been playing some cool indie games
-
I'm actually getting quite annoyed that these challenges are so frickin hard. The AaAaA ones are painful
-
This stuff any help to you? http://valvearg.com/wiki/Potato_Sources

Lol. Yes, it wasn't very good. I've since put it back up, however, because... Check the page I created: http://thunderpeel2001.blogspot.com/2011/04/glados-reboot-help-portal-2-get.html

Haha, very good! I've started to put together a blogpost on how to get all 35 potatoes, if anyone wants to help me improve it: http://thunderpeel2001.blogspot.com/2011/04/glados-reboot-help-portal-2-get.html

Ugh. There's all kinds of errors in the Wiki, but I can't see how you can join to edit it? Edit: Nice graphic, btw. Captain F. Did yo make that especially for me?

I saw Scream 4 yesterday. Wasn't terrible, just I also saw Limitless, which was highly entertaining, if flawed in many ways. (The behaviour of the drug doesn't match anything close to our bodies real relationships with drugs, and the ending wasn't really an ending. (Or at least I didn't understand it if it was.)) An enjoyable timewaster, but not brilliant.

I think it's pretty nifty because GlaDOS has "hacked" into these games -- FOR REAL. As in, these unrelated games have ACTUALLY been modified for this ARG. Everyone is working together to "reboot" GlaDOS which will, in turn, set the events rolling in Portal 2 (she'll no longer be dead). I think it's pretty damn genius... making us willing pawns in her rising. Literally making us part of the story. It's the best ARG I've ever seen. That said, they may have underestimated how much effort would be required from everyone :-/
