You liked Limitless more than Source Code? Oh, man. Also: Thor was better on second viewing. Quite a well constructed little super-hero film. Considering how little interest I have in a character called Thor, I was surprisingly involved. Not sure I'm about to rush out and buy Thor comics, but considering he comes from such a lame idea (he's Thor -- but a super-hero), I thought they did a great job.

Sounds pretty good, then

Here's what Alan Moore has to say about Ossk's question: "There are a lot of things that can be done with a film that can't be done with a short story or novel. Information can be presented visually in an efficient an measured fashion concerning character and environment that would take a lot of bulky description and exposition to convey with words alone. Also, since our current society has a greater visual orientation than a literary one, a visual flow of narrative gives a much more immediate and involving sensory impact to the work in hand, even though much of the emotional depth and resonance is forfeit in many cases." E.g. Car chases, explosions, fight scenes, slapstick comedy. It's hard, if not impossible, to have the same level of visceral impact of such things in prose alone.

Yes, it made my blood boil when it arrived through our postbox. *sigh*

Here in London there a slight vibe of excitement, but not really. I think it's mostly that we're getting a day off

Thanks!

I never remember being filled with rage at Xen. It just made me feel very apathetic, as I recall. All this talk of HL1... Maybe I should give it another go, for old time's sake. I might really like it now. Hmm! Miffy, how long does a HL playthrough take, roughly?

Lol. Everything has been done in books, Ossk. That's not proof of anything. Could you point me to a great literary car chase? I'd like to see if it gets my pulse racing like watching the French Connection does.

Is this because you think people are laughing at Serbians when they enjoy his videos?

If only Notch had more money, then he could pay developers to iron out the bugs more quickly. Poor, poor Notch. -
Thor - Another enjoyable Marvel romp at the same level as Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk. Not bad at all.

Heh. I'm surprised that less people make the same Star Wars connection with The Borg that I do: Star Trek Writer #1: "How about a giant technological death machine floating through space?" Star Trek Writer #2: "Brilliant! It could be a big mechanical planet!" Star Trek Writer #1: "Yes! No, wait. That's the Death Star..." Star Trek Writer #2: "Oh, yeah. Um. No, problem! We'll make ours a cube!" Star Trek Writer #1: "Genius!"

Wow. Dude, I don't even remember that scene. Talk about an obscure reference, but a great quote, non-the-less!

The second half of Season 2 was the same ("Scar" -- I hated that episode). The network finally gave up in Season 4, apparently, and let them go back to telling a larger story. Saying that, I LOVED New Caprica.

But surely the fact that he IS Serbian is what makes it funny? I wouldn't be remotely interested in hearing some random American attempting to mock Serbians, but this guy is just having fun with a stupid stereotype -- sort of mocking the stereotype itself by the fact that he is Serbian.

It is yours. Just let me know when you're all Steamed up. Edit: That came out wrong.

Was he piss-poor, or was he awesome?

What are these changes? I'm intrigued now.

I'd drop all hopes of "realism" when it comes to the computer tech. It wasn't written by a bunch of Microsoft MVPs, it was written by a bunch of military history buffs. Also, if it's any help, they're not using Earth tech here. Who knows what their machines or the Cylon machines are capable of. On the plus side, I'm pretty sure they're done with the tech stuff. It's never a major plot point that I can remember, other than the things you've mentioned (which just sets up the feeling that the Cylons are always waiting to pounce). That said. Keep it up, I'm interested to hear how you get on. I remember being frustrated with Season 2 myself. It seemed to get a bit cookie-cutter, and I was antsy for "macro" events to start progressing, instead of "micro" day-to-day gubbins, that had no greater bearing on things. Still, I think the characters and the way they behave in a military sense is remains pretty cool. And the political stuff is quite interesting. It's nice that there's actual protocols, and the ship's Captain isn't going off on dangerous missions every two seconds (a la Star Trek).

That makes me sad. I feel as though we should all send you our spare games! My cash is very up and down, as you know. All I can offer is Puzzle Agent and Portal 1, if you want them... If you don't want them, they're up for grabs for any other established Thumb, come to think of it.
