PC gaming is still ridiculously expensive, in lots of different ways. I know for myself that I don't plan on upgrading my computer just so I can play certain games any time soon (although I would have done in the past). A console is a lot more cost effective, especially since the advent of things like XBLA. The cool thing about OnLive is that it's instant. No downloading and installing a demo only to discover you hate the game. You just choose it and then you're playing. Don't like it? Try another one in a few seconds. Installing games and upgrading hardware just seems archaic and unnecessary in the face of something like this. Even if OnLive doesn't take off, I think this will ultimately be the future in some form or another.

So true. I intensely dislike the hatred he spews into the world, as much as I dislike any hatred spewed by militant religious people. He offers no solutions to the problems he poses, he merely attacks those who disagree with him. I totally agree with taking down negative religious dogma (homophobia, sexism, etc, etc.), I admire and enjoy his books (except for maybe The God Delusion), and I agree with most of what he says, but as a person he's lost his way. I remember in an interview where he was asked if he would like there to be a heaven. His answer was, "No, I'd get bored". Which just cracked me up. I imagined a scenario if there was a heaven: You'd be like, "Holy shit! I can't believe it! Heaven actually exists! This is amazing!" Then you'd look around and see his miserable face, "I'm bored." "Dude! This is heaven! Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon are playing a gig together tonight. Shakespeare's written a movie that Kubrick's directing. There's no death, famine, war. No suffering at all..." "Really?", he'd petulantly pout, "I wish I was dead." He's so anti-religion he just can't help himself sometimes.

The trailer looks awful... I'd be prepared to give it a try, though.

Take from subbes's Milkshake thing. Just brilliant:

Are you sure you're just not making excuses for her being stoned? Hmm. Well this video wasn't an attack on her talent, but I'd not heard that she was well known for getting nervous in interviews.

Saw the new Harry Potter and I have to say... I really enjoyed it. Still hated the Epilogue (so utterly, utterly narratively pointless) but possibly my favourite Potter movie. (And I really hated Part 1.) But overall, quite good!

The only GTA I've ever properly played is GTAIV. I enjoyed it a great deal and I picked up the Rockstar Pack last time it was on sale on Steam. Now I've got a choice: Which one to play? GTA GTA2 GTA III GTA: San Andreas GTA: Vice City I'm not planning on playing through all of them, to be honest, probably just the "best" one. So... which is it? I have a feeling that either VC or SA are the ones that people go back to/have fondest memories of/are the most enjoyable/have the least annoying main character, but I can't remember which one it was. Thanks!

It's true, Girls As Link definitely works for me.

What? No... NO... NO!!!! Edit: Bah, I can't find the Family Guy moment that I'm referencing. Ah, well.
-
No, that'd be crazy. Animation is usually something like 12fps, The Thief and the Cobbler was unusual for doing the full 24. Also you have to remember that cinemas are going to have to upgrade to display anything other than 24fps (with animation they just printed the same cell twice to make their 12fps fit into a 24fps projector).

I just queued up for 4+ hours to spend two minutes with Alan Moore. I wish I could say it was worth it, but it really wasn't. I feel outstandingly let down. I totally boiked the question that I wanted to ask him, too, so I got a rather lame response. Ugh. Still, I got League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: 1910 But why oh why did I think it was going to be worth a four+ hour wait to get it signed? Especially when I could have just taken it home and read it... Ah well. Note to self: Signings generally suck. You queue for four and a half hours to spend two minutes muttering mild platitudes to someone you admire (and would much rather have a decent conversation with). Bah

Well you could always order it from TopShelfComix.com -- they're the ones who actually own it and distribute it in the US.

I believe Messr. BBX was merely jesting.

I bet Luiz Boat drinks Grog XD.

Words and Alan Moore go together like magic and Aleister Crowley. Definitely. www.TopShelfComix.com is the greatest. I've mentioned them here before, and they truly rock. (Anyone who hasn't read Blankets should do so!) Edit: Holy crap! Dodgem Logic has folded (no surprises there -- it was half superb and half utter shite) and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Vol 3 Part 2 is out. http://www.topshelfcomix.com/catalog/league-of-extraordinary-gentlemen-vol-iii-century-2/635 Edit edit: Apparently DL is only "hibernating" while they figure out if it has any life in it. They should cull some of the sub-blogger "journalists" while nobody is looking, too.

I scanned the cache and loaded the new XLive software it previously installed, and one of them seems to have helped. Still a great game!

It was working perfectly in a UK office last week... so I guess it's already here?

Ugh. Just actually enjoying playing through GTAIV on a PC (the sound is SO much clearer with five speakers, and I'm noticing more things about the world) but then it goes and crashes after 5 mins of play. Is it generally unstable?
-
Hmm. Not with 48fps? That's a specific look they're aiming for. Changing it to make it look like 24fps would make shooting it 48 pointless. Although I guess when it's on DVD/Bluray, it probably will have to be offered in a 24fps or at least 30fps version. (I wonder what they did with Public Enemies, come to think of it?)

Haha. Very good. I do remember that issue where he went through all 22 cards and told a story (at least, I think that's what he did... it's been a while).
-
Oh wow. I bought the Star Wars Galaxies boxset, too. What a disappointing waste of life that was.

Have you read Promethea? It might give you some ideas...?
