Oh balls. Maybe I should cancel my order then...

Thanks for the link that's an interesting review. I stupidly went to PC World on the off chance that they might have something for a good price. Isn't there anywhere in London where you can buy a card at a reasonable price? Guess I'll have to wait for Scan to deliver.
-
Huh, this looks interesting. Any reason why this wouldn't be a good recommendation? http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1gb-xfx-hd-6870-black-edition-4600mhz-gddr5-gpu-940mhz-1120-stream-processors-2xdvi-hdmi-mdp

Hurrah! Thanks for that, Patters. You too, Nappi.

Ooh, I like your thinking. It's an Antec True Power Trio 550W. I run three hard drives (sometimes four), two DVD drives, and a old Audigy sound card. Plus misc USB devices. Edit: How is SLI/CF these days? I remember reading about them back in the Voodoo days (remember them?) and it was like having extra cores... Unless the software you were using specially took advantage of them, they did squat. Has the situation/general support improved these days?

I was hoping to not have to rebuild any time soon, but my machine is pretty old now (I'm still running an Intel Core Duo E6600, if memory serves correctly. My motherboard is a Gigabyte 965P-DS3P. What a pain Not sure what my max budget is. I just want something reasonable :-/

Just been looking this up, and apparently it would be cheaper... Wow. But I have the following concerns: - I'd prefer a larger screen to having 3D on a smaller screen. - I'm worried that DS games won't scale up well (?). - Small screen... Maybe the XL will come down in price now? :-/
-
I just borrowed my Dad's Nintendo DS, and damn if I'm not loving playing on that thing. I'm still not convinced about the 3DS, though. If I was going to buy a DS, it'd be a toss up between the DSXL and the 3DS... leaning towards the DSXL. Any thoughts/advice?

Holy fuck. Congrats on getting through that, Sno. Lord knows it must have been stressful! subbes, does that mean you won't be able to make a Thumbs drinks if there is one?

(Howdy, Tommy Gun, long time no see!) I guess I'll wait and see what the general consensus is on Dust before I commit :-/

What Tanu said, also: Batman: Arkham Asylum GOTYE for a ridiculous £3.75! (~ $5)
-
I put that into my Bad-O-Meter and it was so bad it actually went round to "Good". Well done

I'm leaving all anus-related humour to you from now on.

Other things: Avoid the lower back (unless you're homeless - you could probably score some comedy money). Don't get one that says 'Mom', that's just creepy. If you're going to get a Chinese symbol, take a Chinese speaking friend along to make sure it means what you think it does. Especially if you're planning to work for a Chinese company, meet your fiancé's Chinese parents, and/or move to China.

I'm very sad that I didn't notice this myself. I would have written 'Gears f War 3' and seen if anyone would have gotten it.
-
Jeez, when I saw all those sad faces, I thought the game had been canceled or something. I can handle a delay, as long as it's definitely getting released.
-
Reading this thread, I've realised that tattoos should either be iconic (as with JD's) or allude to something (like the 'Corley's Motors' logo, or something). They shouldn't be obvious (like 'Gears of War 3' written across your buttocks).

You don't have real fingers?

Actually, that's quite a good point: Abrams was not as involved in the show as people think. I'm pretty sure they gave him an EP credit as thanks, more than anything. He certainly wasn't involved after season one, at least. The B5 thing is intriguing. It's a shame out wasn't executed exactly to plan, though. Makes me wonder if it's worth watching, but does something being pre-planned automatically mean it's better than something that wasn't? Lost, Twin Peaks and Battlestar Galactica all made stuff up on the go, but they were also great in other ways. (BG was the most successful in telling a big arching story, out if those three, if you ask me. Very satisfying.)

You guys are being way too hard on Lost. The greater mystery is what hooks you, but it's the characters and stories that make you stick around, and what made it good. The final episode wasn't a great big reveal a thon, it was the ending to the character's stories. As I said I did get frustrated when I was aware of being played like a fiddle, but I still cried during the final episode... Because it was the characters that made the show worth while. That said, I don't think I'd be so eager to jump into another "mystery" show again.
-
That sounds like a TED talk worth watching to me. As much as Lost frustrated me, and as much as I felt resentful at being played like a fiddle sometimes, I think it was an excellent show that ultimately excelled in creating great characters and stories.
-
Wow. Are you sure you were paying attention? Hard to believe you can't remember that the killer wasn't revealed. You're right about the comparison to Lost, though. I guess if you don't like that sort of mystery format I can see why you wouldn't rate the story. Season one is great, imho, and Season two has some great moments - but also some horrible ones, too.

Very funky tat and shoes!

Yikes, what? Where were they living before? Pretty odd/inconsiderate not to tell you!

That would be really interesting to see, but I imagine out would take a very long time to do!
