Every time I hear him trying to push for something cool (equal pay for women, consumer rights, better healthcare) he seems to back down and compromise. I realise that he doesn't have much choice at the moment, given his situation, but Bush managed to send the whole country to war with a "fuck you, I know you don't like it, but it's for the best, so shut the fuck up" attitude. Obama could use more of that attitude, or he could have used it before the democrats lost control. I remember when we had the fuel strikes here in the UK. Everyone was so pissed at the high cost of petrol, but Blair used the same attitude: "I don't care that you think it's so high. Get back to your jobs and stop complaining. I'm not dropping the price because of pressure. End of story." It worked.

Oh. That's a shame. I was planning to play on the Steam version and I don't particularly care about Steam Achievements.

Even on a PC they tie save-games to your Windows Live account... at least they do on some games (e.g. Fallout 3). As for bosses, isn't there some YouTube guides just get past them? At this point they don't even sound like part of the "proper" game, just something you have to tolerate in order to progress.

Yeah, but I only rate movies using one thumb.

Over the past few days I've become obsessed with the ZX Spectrum. This old 8-bit beauty was the system I grew up with, and it holds many happy memories for me. Yes, this isn't Retro Gaming, it's Nostalgia Gaming... it's not about playing older games, it's about bathing in nostalgia. I'm ashamed (and a little bit worried) to admit that I switch the emulator to full screen and let the games load in REAL TIME. Yes, I like that whine noise it makes... it's all part of the nostalgia experience. Has anyone else ever done this, or have I gone a bit peculiar?

I totally respect his composure. If I have any complaint about Obama it's that he doesn't come across as someone who feels passionate about his beliefs (although I'm sure he is) and I feel that, with a little more force when he's talking about something, he'd silence some of his naysayers. I think of his appearance on Letterman... MAVauLsJ56Q

It's unfortunately the only thing Obama lacks (IMO): BALLS! For some sad reason people need to feel that their leader knows exactly what is right and is sticking to it no matter what. That attitude is (I think) mostly what made Dubya so popular. I actually wrote a sketch about Obama being in the White House as a bunch angry and armed right-wingers storm the place... and his frustratingly calm responses to his aides as they try and persuade him to flee. *sigh*

Are you going to start a podcast just so you can use that name, Ossk? I love that idea Also: Well done, Toblix

I did like that poem, actually, (and I like Shakespeare, too) but other than evoking a few images and feelings, does it have a deeper meaning? Am I over-thinking it?
-
Damn. That sound terrible. Also, aren't saves tied to your XBL profile and so can't be shared?
-
Same here, I didn't rate that "joint" too highly, either. BBX loved it, though.

Yes, it's a play on "babylon", but you make good points. Just go with what you like, I reckon.
-
Clever, I like it, but maybe not as good as Game Parley or Video Game Babble-On in the descriptive stakes. You should probably just go with what you like, as you'll never please everyone, and there's plenty of good names here. Also, it probably doesn't matter that much.

As a British person who's lived in the US and who has many American friends, I believe the only answer is this: Everyone has different opinions, just like they do everywhere else in the world.

I'd love to be able to appreciate poetry. I understand that fault lies completely with me. Maybe I've just never found the "right" poet.

Give that man some money!
-
That depends of your definition of "your".

I do love Blood, Sweat and Turrets, very cool indeed. Also, "Behind the Crate" is cool. Both fall into the trap of someone like me looking for video game related interviews and not being able to find it, though. (I recently tried to find film podcasts to listen to, and I got this list. What would you pick?: Mondo Movie, Film FlimFlam, Filmspotting, The Hollywood Saloon, CinemaJaw, FilmCast... I have zero idea where to begin to find the kind of programming I'm looking for from these titles -- Are they reviews? Interviews? Commentary? News? So I do think a title is somewhat important... even if it becomes meaningless if you've built a brand.) Not sure about AnecTotally Video Games... I don't really get it. I kind of stole this idea, but it sort of works: Video Game Babble-On

I am similarly poetry stricken. I wish I could enjoy it, but I fail miserably every time I try. That Plath poem left me cold, for example. It just seemed meaningless, however evocative. In short, I think I was born without poetry appreciating equipment

That's absolute nonsense. We actually needlessly debate with each other whilst saying the same thing in slightly different ways.

The guy at the end was a little surprising... I guess.

Great idea! I'd love to do something similar with film. As for a name, I kind of think you can get away with anything, but being informative is probably a great help. So I'd almost lean to something boring, but descriptive. For example, "The Hollywood Saloon" is a podcast about loving mainstream movies, but a lot of people initially think it's just about Westerns. "Game Dev Interviews" is horribly dry, but it might catch the eye of someone who would love the show... Which is better than a funky name which tells you nothing. At least in my opinion, anyway. How about, "First Person Interviews - Insights into the game industry"?

Yeah, same here. Although I suppose it may happen eventually.
